Balassar will begin to just gently pet the wolf's head "Need you to be strong and protect the horses and these people Ghost, you understand?" he asks as he lays out some food for the wolf as well.
Alton helps out Balassar by using a bedroll and some clothes to make a bed in the back of the cart. Hoping that the familiar smell with help keep Ghost calm.

"I guess this will do for tonight, at least. We should find a place for ourselves." When they are ready to leave, Alton passes a gold over to Juniper. "Thank you, and hopefully Ghost doesn't cause you any trouble, Ma'am."

Alton scratches his head, "I think it was somewhere along the main road into town, close to a blacksmith, if I remember correctly. I'm sure once we see it, we will know it."

It's now quite late at night, so I think you would decide not to disturb the Lawmaster at this hour.
Last time you stayed at the Goldfield Tavern and Lodge; you can rest there if you like. A room can fit two people, and costs 4 silver for a night, with discounts available for long stays.
The common room is still busy when you enter; you can talk to the locals, or head straight to bed if you prefer.
Before paying the barkeep for his room, Silent will try to do a bit of drinking with the locals and sneak in some questions about the war - not trying to come off as prying or especially inquisitive, but as a traveler casually looking for some news.
Alton goes to pay for his share of a room and gets himself something to eat and drink. While Silent goes off to mingle, Alton finds a spot where he can keep an eye on the crowd while he eats.

Silent, you find a group of halflings and gnomes, one of whom you might remember as Isbel Rover, the gnome woman who defeated you in the first round of the Harvest Close wrestling games; she recognises you and calls you over, laughing. If you join them, you can ask any questions about the war you like, as Isbel tells the story of her famous victory over you.
Alton, you see a few people glance over in your direction, or Balassar or Silent, eyes wide before returning to their conversations. You get the impression that you're becoming a little famous in Felderwin, and wonder what stories people are telling. You're too far away to overhear anything though. :)
Silent, Isbel has finished telling her story and the topic of conversation moves on to general life and the war, so it's easy to get an answer to your question. What news we get officially is good, but we don't get much news. You know how the Empire is. But there's not many folks coming back from the fighting, not yet at least. I dunno, it feels like everything is just holding, waiting. How about you? You heard anything new?
There was some kind of attack, right at the start of the war. Almost brought down one of those big spires. Dunno any more than that, though. Scary to think the enemy could strike so far into our territory. Makes people nervous, gets them talking about whether we're in danger here. Nothing to be done about it though, except support the war effort as best we can.
Silent downs the last of his drink and shakes his head. Bad business. You're right though - no sense worryin' about what we can't control. The fish can't control the currents of his river.
He shakily gets to his feet. Thanks for the company. 'Bout time I was headin' up to bed though. See you around, fellas. He staggers up to his room and retires for the night.

Ghost whines, and lies down, looking utterly miserable. He ignores the bedroll and clothes completely.
Having done your best to see Ghost is okay, will you head to town now?

I'm sure he won't. And I'm sure I can get a message to you if he does. You'll be staying in town, right? May I ask where?
Where did we stay last time, lads? I remember the lodgings being decent.
Balassar just looks around "Uh...I just remember really good booze."
Alton scratches his head, "I think it was somewhere along the main road into town, close to a blacksmith, if I remember correctly. I'm sure once we see it, we will know it."

Tell you what, miss, one of us'll run back here to let you know where we're staying.
Silent is ready to head into the town in search of the Lawmaster (unless there's anything else we'd like to do first).

A few drinks in, Silent says, Say, you lot catch wind of anything from the war front? Looks like all's well out here... knock on wood.

Can't say I have, no. Hopefully no news is good news.
Thinking we might head to Zadash for a bit of a visit once we finish some business here... you ain't heard anything from 'round those parts, have you?

You rest in the inn; the sleep refreshes you. You wake in the morning, having completed a long rest.
What's the plan for the new day?
