Balassar just gives a heavy sigh “We need to report this as well when we get back to the cart. There’s potentially two missing soldiers involved now as well.”
Alton pats Balassar, "Well, we have some sort of lead at least. It will probably be dark down there too and I can't see very well in the dark. Do you want to head back or keep looking?"

You make it back to Silent, who is still fiddling with his weapon I think? Silent, no-one has approached you or spoken to you since Balassar and Alton departed, and you've been alone with your thoughts. Now you hear footsteps, and look up to see the halfling and dragonborn walk back towards you.
Balassar looks to Silent as he asks his question "A lock broken on a grate going to the sewer system and the guards that should be there missing. No sign of them either."
There's no sign yet of anyone else approaching or entering the alleyway. The sun has risen though, and the street beyond is getting busier; a few passers-by glance in the direction of your group, but walk on.
You stand, and get ready to go find the Lawmaster when you hear the march of footsteps on the ground in the street beyond the alleyway, and before you can do or say anything, nine Crownsguard appear. They are a mix of humans, half-elves and one halfling, and these are all wearing proper Crownsguard uniforms, no mercs mixed in.
At their head is a human woman who seems to be higher in rank. They come to a stop in the alley and the woman speaks. "Good, you fit the description I have. Good. So, they're inside right?" She looks at the carriage but can't see the interior from where she's standing. "Captain Girell. I'm just here to check it's safe before the Lawmaster comes for the handoff. We're going to need to do a search." She looks at you, nods at the carriage, and is clearly waiting for and expecting a response.
Alton takes a step forward and gives a polite bow, "Captain Girell, I'm Alton. As much as my friends and I would like to comply with your request to search the wagon; we cannot let you do that. We have strict orders that the cargo only be delivered to Lawmaster Stonegrasp and to let no one else see the cargo. I can assure you that the wagon is completely safe."

Balassar, you don't find any sign of a discarded lock or guards in the alley. You can search elsewhere if you like.

Balassar gives a defeated sigh “Yeah, could be more dangerous we may need help down there.”
Do you walk back to find Silent? Or do something else?
Thinking we are heading back to SIlent now.

Silent looks up. Lawmaster taking his sweet time getting here, apparently. What'd you find?
Balassar looks to Silent as he asks his question "A lock broken on a grate going to the sewer system and the guards that should be there missing. No sign of them either."

Alton takes a walk around the place and returns the empty tray and bowls that had their breakfast to the inn.

Balassar just impatiently paces back and forth “Is now a good time to suggest we just go knock on their door?”
Silent stands up and sheathes his blade. Yeah. Enough waiting. Let's go find them.
Are you headed out? Where are you going?
(OOC: Silent wouldn't know this but I think the Crownsguard told Balassar the Lawmaster would be at the King's Hall, so maybe there?)
Yeah Balassar would lead them there if Alton said it was good.

Balassar watches as the soldiers approach and just looks to Alton “You wanna take lead on this?” He asks as the soldiers approach.

Girell frowns, looking a little suspicious.
Alton, make a Deception check.
