(I'm just going to say that Alton hasn't seen a firbolg before and wouldn't know what one looks like.)
"Wow, this place looks fancy! I haven't see anything that looks like them either. Have either of you two?" Alton points at the firbolg that is reading the book.

Silent, the figure looks up with a start, and a broad smile crosses his face. "Well, there, welcome customers. Welcome to the Invulnerable Vagrant. We have all sorts of interesting knick knacks and magical trinkets if that's the kind of thing that takes your fancy. Or perhaps you're more of the fighting persuasion? What sort of things are you interested in?"
He seems very friendly and interested in helping you, and he casts his eyes over the group. "You look like adventurers, if you don't mind me saying. New in town?"
Silent produces a Potion of Radiant Resistance and a Potion of Stone Giant Strength from his rucksack and places them on the counter. My friend over there is a dab hand with the, uh, arcane arts. If we wanted to get something useful for him, how much would trading these potions in get us?
The shopkeeper casts a slightly dubious eye over the two potions, and then picks each one up in turn, examines it from several angle, and gives the potion a little shake. "Hmmm. You know, I think I'm gonna need a second opinion on this. Hey, come out here a moment!" he calls into the back room.
You hear movement, and an identical person walks through the door from the back of the shop.
"These folks want to trade in some potions. I think I recognise them, but best to double check these things. They do look interesting though."
The second figure walks over. "Hi there, folks, welcome to the Invulnerable Vagrant, now just give me a second here," and he repeats, with uncanny similarity, the same inspection of the two potions as the first with all the same exact hand movements.
"Well, that would be a strength potion, a rare one, and then also a potion of resistance to radiant magic. Very useful."
"I agree, and thank you for the confirmation."
"You're quite welcome. Just give me a call if you need me." And the second creature returns to the back of the shop.
The first speaks again. "Well, now, I won't buy these off you, but I'll take them in trade if you are interested in any of our items. I'll give you a thousand and three hundred gold credit for the pair. How's that?
(Alton, you see a number of strange items - is there anything in particular you're on the lookout for?)
"A bit low on weapons at the moment," the shopkeeper says, looking a little embarrassed. "The Righteous Brand has taken a great many on a kind of long term loan until the war is over. I'm very happy to contribute to the war effort and glad to think of my items protecting our brave troops on the front line. As to what's left, I've a dagger and a mace over there in that display case, and that's about it. A bit more in the way of interesting items. I've got a cloak that makes you harder to see if you need to get somewhere unnoticed. And another cloak that I've only recently finished enchanting myself, that will help you a bit more on the battlefield, so that's more of a protection thing yes."
"Don't forget the hats" a voice calls out from the next room.
"I was just getting to those. This one's more a kind of helmet thing, very useful, quite impressive and helps you with study; you can use it to understand languages that you don't normally understand. Very useful for exploring strange forgotten places and so on. And I guess this one's more of a helm too, it will help you underwater, with breathing and seeing and so forth. So, anything strike your fancy?"
At the moment, Alton is just looking around to see what is in stock. After a few minutes of looking he does pipe up to ask, "Do you have anything that would help with healing, carrying things, or talking across long distance?"

"Everything that heals you has been taken off, like I said, by the Righteous Brand", the shopkeeper replies apologetically. "And I had a really useful haversack, but sold it a while ago. I think I can help with the talking though." He reaches below the counter and brings out a box, from which he takes two large pieces of jade that have been smoothed and polished and would just about fit in Alton's palm. He turns them, and from some angles there appears to be a face in profile on the surface, though this vanishes from other angles. "These here you can use to send messages between the holders of the two stones. Only once a day, though - that's the limit of the magic. But at any distance at all. Here take a look." He hands them to Alton. "I'd charge you four hundred gold for these. So well within your credit, if you're selling the potions."
Alton takes the pieces of jade and looks them over wondering how the faces vanish at different angles. "Okay, it's like what I can do, but both sides can use it instead of just one. What did the haversack do that you sold? Oh, and I heard you say that a helmet can let you read any language, would that include like coded messages?"

"Well, it was a very nice haversack, you could fit lots of things in there and never mind the space, and it weighed next to nothing. Very handy to have around. No, the helm just helps understand languages the folks speak or write. For something in code, you'd need to find a way to break the code - talk to an expert maybe?"
Balassar just shrugs, he understood the weapons issue. He just looked at the man “Could I see the cloak that you just finished? As for weapons could you enchant some if we brought them to you, maybe for a discount if you need more I could open up a line to a local smithy to bring you what you needed?”
(OOC: Silent, while Alton and Balassar are dealing, is just staring at the back of the shop and craning his neck to try to catch another glimpse of the shopkeeper's apparent twin)
"I'm afraid I'm all tied up with the enchanting for the war effort. Hopefully all of that will end soon and I can be of more assistance, sorry," the shopkeeper replies. "But yes, please take a look at the cloak," and he walks over to a display case, opens it and lifts out a very high quality blue cloak with gold trim and hands it to you. "It will make you a little harder to hit, you see. I can change the colour before you buy, at no extra cost. Eight hundred and fifty gold pieces for this one."
Silent, you have no idea. He looks friendly, but you've never seen such a creature.
(I'm just going to say that Alton hasn't seen a firbolg before and wouldn't know what one looks like.)

Silent whispers Can't say that I have, and walks over to the counter. 'Scuse me, ah... sir? What kinda magic stuff you got here?

Balassar just shrugs “I’m local father owns the Silverstone Smithy. These to though are new in town and are looking to maybe spend some coin.”
"Well, you have certainly come to the right place. Let me know if there's anything that uh, particularly catches your eye."
