If Darren also notices the playing cards and can quickly scoop them up and pocket them before his new companions open the door to the next room. He will do so. If not, he’ll make a mental note to come back and get them as he positions himself near the door Balassar.
Darren grabs the cards; they're old but perfectly usable, and a complete set. The designs appear to come from somewhere outside the Empire; perhaps the Menagerie Coast.
Whoever is nearest (Balassar I think?) sees a new room; empty except for the odd pile of trash here and there. There are two doors leading further; one in the north wall, one in the east wall.
Darren motions for Kef to join him on the opposite side of the door. (The one on the east wall. I assume Alton/Balassar would take the other. With Swin somewhere in the middle?)
Swin has been toggling her awareness back and forth between Brodi her familiar and herself. The owl’s perch in the courtyard should give a decent view of what’s going on outside. Assuming nothing notable she prepares a fire bolt for anyone dangerous behind either door. Assume her bladesong is over by now, it’s been a minute?
Balassar just takes point at the door opposite Darren's choice on the east wall. He just sees the hand form around the knob and holds his shield up nodding to Alton to open the door.
