Rhane finds the time spent in captivity has dulled his combat skills more than he thought.
Kef descends, and similarly shoots at Bandit 2 - and hits! For 3 points of piercing damage.
Brigands 2 and 3 charge in to attack Balassar. Two attacks each, four total, all misses - the highest attack roll was 21.
Brigands 4 and 5 stay back and shoot crossbows, one at Swin, another at Darren: Brigand 4 against Swin: 16 against AC, hits for 7 piercing damage. Swin looks really bad. Brigand 5 against Darren: 7 against AC, sad miss.
You also see Brigands 2, 3 and 4 each chugging a healing potion.
Swin casts a firebolt, hitting Brigand 5 and doing some serious fire damage. They then retreat to the corner, badly wounded and trying to avoid taking further damage.
Darren moves all the way to the wall to his left and in front of the barricade. Doing his best to find some cover. (That fire spell really hurt and he’s a bit scared now). He clasps his hand together as he’s moving, rotates them in a circle, then pulls them apart to reveal an ice knife which he promptly hurls towards brigand 4 (rolled a nat 1+8, 10 dmg, which likely doesn’t happen. Brigands 3,4 &5 need dc 16 dex saves or take 6 cold damage. No damage if save)
After casting his spell he drops prone. (Trying to get total cover from any attacks.)
Stepping to the right to get a clear shot, Rhane fires at the injured Bandit 5, this time going for more accuracy than deadly placement given his recent misses.
Attack: 23 to hit, 12 piercing damage (Sharpshooter ignores cover)

12 was exactly what you needed to kill him; Brigand 5 goes down.
Kef shoots too; at Brigand 4. It's another good shot and good chunk of damage.
The brigands notice on of their fellows go down; they look at each other, clearly a bit unhappy, but they keep going, attacking the best target they can find.
Brigands 2 and 3 attack Balassar with their maces. 18, 7, 8 and 14 against AC, all misses.
Brigand 4 shoots at Rhane: 14 against AC, another miss.
“I agree!” Darren responds to Alton. “Can you conjure such magic?” Darren crawls his way up the barricade, sends a fire bolt towards brigand 4 and immediately takes total cover behind the barricade again. (1+8 to hit for 9 damage)
Totally understand if I've missed the boat on this but Swin would have started her final Bladesong as this fight got started, making her AC 20 (base 13 from mage armor which should still be going, +2 Dex, and +5 bladesong). If so, the fireball hit but the crossbow missed, meaning she could get 7hp back. Let me know if you'd allow that, and if so, I can add back onto my sheet.
Swin, smoke swirling about her long coat and from her brown hair, rolls her shoulders. "Ow! That hurt!"she says to no one in particular, patting out a flaming sleeve. She begins humming to herself, trying to dodge out of the way of a crossbow bolt. Her eyes dart up to the brigands. "Time for the big guns,"she mutters, and casts Melf's minute meteors. Six sparks of flame begin orbiting her head. "Don't look, Rhane, keep your eyes shut!"and two sparks lance out at the spot just south of Brigand 3. They need to make two DEX 16 saves or take all of 4 and the 7 fire damage, of half if not. (Directing two meteors to the same place, and they explode and anyone within 5 feet is affected.) Goal is to get all visible brigands and no allies. If we can't have Bladesong running, she activates it now.
She'd prefer to stay where she is for this, and then drop to a crouch for cover, but if she needs to get a clearer shot, she can move to the space right in front of Darren and make the shoot over the barrier, and then drop to a crouch behind the barrier.
Balassar whomps Brigand 3 badly, and Swin finishes him off. It's a horrific explosion of fire and burning flesh; the surviving brigands are barely clinging on and now look very, very afraid.
It goes so well that nobody notices Alton and Darren's poor aim. :)
Brigand 1 is elsewhere.
Round Four: Rhane and Kef Brigands 2 and 4 Darren, Balassar, Alton and Swin Brigand 1
Aiming at the brigand closest to the exit, Rhane quickly reloads and fires the borrowed crossbow, hoping to take him down so Balassar can box the final one in.
Crossbow: Attack 17, Damage 5

That hits, but the man is undeterred, retreating out of sight.
Round Two:

Rhane and Kef
Brigands 2, 3, 4 and 5
Darren, Balassar, Alton and Swin
Brigand 1
Rhane and Kef are up.
Rhane:
Rhane slides east to get a clear shot on Brigand Number 3. He uses his training to ignore the cover, hoping to actually hit this time!
Attack: (DnD beyond character dice roller not working. Planning 1d20+4, 1d8+14 damage)
(Edit -- Die roller works in character sheet on laptop but not phone: Attack: 7, Damage: 18)
Another carefully aimed shot going wide -- Rhane is used to his elven longbow, not this clumsy bolt-chucker!

Concentration check: 20 (dc was 10 I believe from taking the fire damage since Darren is concentrating on magic weapon for Balassar)

After casting his spell he drops prone. (Trying to get total cover from any attacks.)
Brigand 4 dodges, avoiding the initial attack and the splash. Brigands 3 and 5 are not so quick and take the 6 cold damage.
Balassar and Alton are up.
Balassar just follows up to his companions attack with his own, swinging at Brigand 3 twice.
OOC:
Attack 1: 10 to hit for 6 damage
Attack 2: 10 to hit for 5 Damage
Giant's Strength Damage: 5

"A flaming sphere would be good for this situation." Alton says as he fires off another crossbow bolt at one of the brigands.
Action: Takes a shot at brigand 2. Attack: 26, Damage: 11 Piercing
Be excellent to each other, and roll for initiative dudes!
Luck is not with Balassar this time; two powerful blows, but both miss as the brigand twists his body out of the way.
Better from Alton, whose crossbow bolt hits the brigand's chest, not anything vital but looking like it hurts a lot.
(Brigands 2 and 5 look pretty bad).
Whatever Brigand 1 does, you do not see it.
Round Three:
Rhane and Kef
Brigands 2, 3, 4 and 5
Darren, Balassar, Alton and Swin
Brigand 1
Rhane is up.
Rhane:

Action: Shoots a bolt at Brigand 2, Attack: 10, Damage: 7 Piercing
Be excellent to each other, and roll for initiative dudes!
I will allow that for Swin, yes.
Balassar whomps Brigand 3 badly, and Swin finishes him off. It's a horrific explosion of fire and burning flesh; the surviving brigands are barely clinging on and now look very, very afraid.

And take him down is exactly what Rhane does; it's a clean shot through one eye, and Brigand 2 is dead.
Kef shoots his crossbow, and misses.
Brigand 4, the last survivor, takes off running down the corridor. There are no enemies remaining that you can see, but you are still in initiative.
Darren, Balassar, Alton and Swin are up.
Darren moves as close as he can to the hallway. (He was prone for better cover. Can he get a view down the hall? If so, what does he see?)
