Silent grimaces when Truda mentions Palma Flora. No easy way to say this... Palma Flora's sunk. Taken over by shark-folk. Handful of survivors made it to Port Damali but there's no way in the Nine Hells that either of you should head there, I'm dead serious.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(I have an herbalism kit - would that give me anything?)
Nature check: 16
Arael nods to the pair, "Palma Flora is, to be frank, gone. I would recommend staying away from there. There are worse things than Giant Frogs in those parts and no offense, I don't think you're prepared."
The sahuagin, that's deep sea folk, have declared war on us that live on land. We're on our way to find someone with the Clovis Concord to tell them what we've learned. Palma Flora might be the first in a series of attacks.
Really? she says to Silent. Sunk? There were rumours of something - a tremor perhaps - spreading through the city, but one tends to disregard idle gossip.
She says to Arael: I certainly do intend to stay far from there; you could say that's my entire purpose, to find an alternative source for... various items, the flower included.
To Pockets, she says: The sahuagin? I've never seen one in person, though I hear they are a plague in the coastal villages sometimes. I wonder what has them riled up. The Clovis Concord? You mean the Marquis? She looks you all over and gives a little laugh. I doubt she would see you. But you might find a Zhelezo who would take you seriously. If you very lucky.
She finishes her breakfast. Now, if you would excuse me. There's much to be done. Come along, Barr, dear.
The dwarf stands and, accompanied by her bodyguard, leaves the inn.
Arrogant fool, Dajarkal mutters after she's gone. I hope the frogs get her.
(No, the herbalism kit doesn't help with this. It might help you identify the flower's properties if you had one to hand.)
Silent exhales deeply and looks around at the others after Truda and Barr leave.
Well we all knew getting the bigwigs to listen to us wouldn't be easy. I've been thinking... if we're really going to be sticking our necks out instead of cutting and running, we might need to take matters into our own hands. Make inroads with some other mercs and sellswords in Port Damali and take the fight back to the sahuagin. Before they bring the fight on land.
You leave the inn, and head down to the waterfront. You see a handful of little fishing boats, none really large enough to accommodate your party. There's one larger boat, a little smaller than the Blue Torrent that you rode to Palma Flora that first time. The boat is old; you see patches and repairs covering large parts of the deck and hull - this vessel has had an interesting life. And there's an odd chemical smell that you can't quite place.
The boat looks to be about to depart, with the small crew moving purposefully about the deck untying ropes that moor the boat to the dock. At the wheel stands a human woman with a frown on her face as she observes her crew; she doesn't seem to have noticed you.
Silent raises a hand and gestures to the other four. Couple o' travelers looking for passage to the Port. Between all of us we got experience seafaring and killing stuff - got room for a few extra hands?
A couple? She casts her eyes over the group. Since when is five a couple? I'll take paying passengers, but I don't need any extra crew wanting paying and the like. Two gold each, and that's final.
Silent bites into a gold coin and holds it forth. One gold now and two on arrival. But if we end up killing any monsters that threaten your crew and ship, I keep the two gold and we call the deal even. What do you say? Waters are dangerous these days.
The creatures that attacked Palma Flora are out for blood, Captain. We’ve seen them ourselves. Still, I’ll just pay the two gold and help out if we’re attacked. Otherwise, I have some designs to work on.
Pockets will head below decks unless directed elsewhere.
Pockets heads below. Dajarkal also pays the two gold and boards the ship.
Silent, make a Persuasion check. A straight roll - you have advantage from Arael's help, but disadvantage because the captain already said 'that's final'.
Two gold now, or find another boat, the woman says. The sails unfurl; Pockets and Dajarkal are on deck; Keyo, Silent and Arael still on the dock. Are you paying the two gold to jump on?

I guess we should start asking around about boats heading that way.

Hoy there! You lot headed to Port Damali?
Yep, says the presumed captain. Who wants to know?

Pockets hands over two gold for himself.

I'm with Halfsy Two, 1 gold now, 2 on arrival, but if we save your skins from any attacks, we'll consider it even.
(OOC: I'm glad to know that if I've contributed anything at all, it will be a series of off the cuff nicknames.)

Yep, Silent pays up and boards the ship. (already marked off the gold after seeing that big 8...)
