MB's Curse of Strahd

 The chest contains three blank books with black leather covers (worth 25 gp each), three spell scrolls (bless, protection from poison, and spiritual weapon), the deed to the house, the deed to a windmill, and a signed will. The will is signed by Gustav and Elisabeth Durst and bequeathes the house, the windmill, and all other family property to Rosavalda and Thornboldt Durst in the event of their parents’ deaths.

Leaning against the wall in the hall not entirely sure what's going on in the room "We done up here yet?"

Lavena would put the stuff into her pack, just in case it was needed,then head out to join the others.  'Anyone able to use these?" She would ask, offering up the three spell scrolls.  "They are not a kind of magic I can use." She explains.

As she moves to leave the area with the chest, Lavena would check to see what the skeleton has in its hand.

Guenhyvar would join the others as they come out of the room, "I cannot use magic, sorry. Have you found anything else of note?"

Lavena would detail all she had found in the chest, not hiding anything.

 The dead adventurer has a letter clutched in his hand, bearing the same seal that was on the letter given to you in the tavern. The letter is written in the same flowing script and reads:

My most pathetic servant,

I am not a messiah sent to you by the Dark Powers of this land. I have not come to lead you on a path to immortality. However many souls you have bled on your hidden altar, however many visitors you have tortured in your dungeon, know that you are not the ones who brought me to this beautiful land. You are but worms writhing in my earth.

You say that you are cursed, your fortunes spent. You abandoned love for madness, took solace in the bosom of another woman, and sired a stillborn son. Cursed by darkness? Of that I have no doubt. Save you from your wretchedness? I think not. I much prefer you as you are.

So the forgery that brought us here - is it this Strahd or is that another fake? Ain't we a bunch of rubes, saps or whatever

Lavena would hand the letter over as she looks it over.  "Seems He has invited you here for some purpose."  She says with a shrug, refering to their other letter.  "Something to consider later perhaps, for now, where to next?"

Letting out a sigh "Why does he use all of these lies... Adventures will come if you challenge them."

 Elias nods at Saxis' words and says: "Aye, None of these lies makes sense. Why would someone go to such great lengths to trick people to come to these strange lands?"

I guess that is all for this floor, up thataway I suppose Ronny points to the next set of stairs There is a glow of enchantment up there

Lavena will nod to the others, then start her way up the stairs to the next level.

You climb the red marble staircase to its full height and come to a dusty balcony with a suit of black plate armor standing against one wall, draped in cobwebs. Oil lamps are mounted on the oak-paneled walls, which are carved with woodland scenes of trees, falling leaves, and tiny critters. You also notice tiny corpses hanging from the trees and worms bursting up from the ground. There are four doors on this level.

Elias will follow up the stairs. Are the lamps lit? If not should we light them as we go?

Saxis will follow as well

Guenhyvar will follow the others up and examine the armor, again checking to see if its practical or decorative, and then move to guard the stairs as before.

Lavena will move to check the first door she comes to.

Passive perception: 18, passive investigation: 22.

Guenhyvar moves to check the armor, and as soon as he's in front of it, its arms and legs squeal as it lunges forward to attack.
