Welcome to the world of Exandria, originally the homebrew world of Matthew Mercer, then popularized by the livestream show Critical Role. Now, it has become an official Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting. This makes history, and you now dwell on this very world.
You are on Exandria, but more specifically, you are on the continent of Wildemount. Fractured by the recent emergence of a war between the Imperial Humans of the Empire of Wildemount in Western Wynandir, and the diverse devoted dark elves, goblinoids, gnolls, and many other races of the Kryn Dynasty in Eastern Wynandir and the wasteland of Xhoras. War has changed the lives of nearly everyone on the continent of Wildemount, from driving out any immigrants from opposing nations from their newfound homelands, and to the settlements caught between the fire in the middle of the continent, where the fighting is happening.
Though chaos is now running rampant through the continent, in the far off frozen lands of Eiselcross, new settlements are being established and magical relics and ancient monsters have surfaced. In the Menagerie Coast, recent attacks from Sahuagin have increased, causing a near war between the people of the land, and the sea dwelling races. On the twisted Blightshore, both the Empire and the Dynasty are attempting to set up strongholds and tame the near-aberrant land. In the Dwendalian Empire, new laws are enacted by one of the two governments (who imposes which laws is a matter of debate), causing many people to rebel or flee, and be consumed be the wild-lands that they attempt to flee to.
This is Wildemount, a land filled with opportunities and problems left unanswered. A land thirsty for adventurers, for quests, and prophecies, and someone to learn the secrets of this strange, yet almost familiar, land.
You are in Rexxentrum, brought here for different reasons. Some of you were born here, others eventually moving here, some of you held captive, and others just common visitors.
The Scene: A normal street in Rexxentrum, with buildings on either side with shops, bars, taverns, inns, restaurants, and some rundown and abandoned.
Hasira, you are walking down the street, headed towards the building you've been called to. You see passing the opposite direction of you a 2 cloaked small figures, just over 3 feet tall, and one of them appears to be holding something small in their arms. A cart is in front of you, you're about to pass it, about 7 feet wide, the platform suspended 2 feet above the ground by 4 large wooden wheels. The cart is about 5 feet tall, and arched, covered in a gray cloth. Pulling the cart are 2 horses, and standing at each corner is a human guard, with spears and shields coated in the symbol of the Dwendalian Empire on a shield. At the front of the cart, sitting on a seat wielding a whip is a middle-aged man who has a whip at his side. You see in the back of the cart, iron bars with an embedded lock connected to a swinging door made of iron bars are placed at the back of the cart. You see in the cart, 2 figures, both wearing common clothes. Sitting in the cart are 4 prisoners, bound at the wrist with manacles, but otherwise unchained. What do you do?
Vani, you are dressed in dark robes, with a cowl pulled above your head, almost covering your face. You are quickly walking beside your husband, who is holding your child. You look back, and see the cart and the figures inside, though you can't make out their exact figures. What do you do?
Cu'Lune. You were captured by Dwendalian soldiers, and are currently sitting in a cart next to 3 other prisoners. Your wrists are bound together by manacles, but your legs and feet aren't bound, and you're not gagged, or connected to the other prisoners. There is another guard in the cart keeping a watch over you sitting in front of the only exit. You are sitting beside a white bird-shaped humanoid.
Beornrun, you are also in the cart, shackled at the wrist, and you are sitting beside a goblin in manacles.
Thorin, you are walking down the street preaching the way of Pelor.
Brocc. You are walking down the street the same direction Hasira is.
Hasira, a willowy copper dragonborn dressed in a muted blue and green robes continues walking, talking to his friend Wave, a female water genasi dressed in common white and browns. "You see, the Academy is largely designed to teach kids how to not blow themselves up, which is much more difficult than you'd expect. Once you get over that barrier, the rest is fairly eas... Wave. Waaave. What are you looking at?"Hasira follows her gaze to the cart. His curiosity now aroused, he walks up to one of the guards, using this opportunity to look into the cart."What did they do?"
Brocc continues on his way. He has to get those supplies for his father's shop, then get back so he can call his work done for the day. He notices the prisoner wagon and wonders what the prisoners did to get locked up.
An older dwarf, dressed in rather plain clothes for a paladin of Pelor, Thorin continues his walk, using his battered warhammer as a walking stick. "ANYONE WHO NEEDS A MEAL COME TO WHERE THE MUDTOP WARD MEETS THE TANGLES, CLOSE TO THE PLATINUM VERANDA. PRIESTS OF THE DAWN FATHER WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU WITH FOOD." When he sees the cart he frowns for a second before deciding he doesn't like the looks of it and his older instincts take over. When the cart passes him he reverses course and follows, continuing his calls.

Beornrun looks at the guard "Hey, you there...the ring you took...it's a signet. I'm supposed to meet someone here....someone important . Maybe you should contact someone there about me"
8 Persuasion
The guards somehow new of Beornlin's Lycanthropy when he arrived, as if someone tipped them off and had asked them to look for him. Beornrun suspects maybe all his "new" family is not happy to have him here....
"What do you think they did to have the Empire parading them around like that?" Vani asks her husband, drawing her cloak closer to her face as the cart passes by. She stops as she does so, looking back to it, wanting to do something.

Cu'Lune and Beornrun. You are thrown off your seat a couple feet in the air, but Cu'Lune and the bird-like person fall on the ground, as well as the guard. The guard drops his spear, and is struggling to stand up in the tilted cart. The cart is now tilted, with the platform of the cart now touching the ground in one corner, making the cart's platform tilt at about a 30 degree angle.
The guards outside ready their spears and shields, those of you who are outside can see that 2 of them go to investigate while 2 maintain their post.
"What in the name of Tartaurus?" Says a now kneeling guard, as he picks up a piece of the now fractured wheel. "What could've caused this?"
