Thorin just shrugs. "Aye, most crimes they don't care much about after a while. Murder though, that they care." He follows the group as fast as his short legs will carry him.

We can jump ahead, unless anyone wants to cash in on my promise to explain the situation once we left the city.

Brocc would want to get somewhere further from the city prior to big explanations, so jumping ahead is good.

Okay, do you walk through the woods, or on the path. On the path, there's 0% chance of getting lost. If you go through the woods, one person that you agree upon will need to roll Survival.

(Are the woods close enough to the path that we could walk in the woods while keeping an eye on the path to know where we're going?)

"Um... is anyone good at trucking through the woods and not getting lost?"

"I have before....we should stay off the path for now...the guards will be searching"

Okay, you're able to go through the woods for the rest of the day, if you'd like to. You don't hear anyone moving down the road from this far away, but you could check occasionally. 

As they walk through the woods, Vani asks, "So... what's actually going on right now?"

"That's an excellent question.  The blue flame entity reached out to me immediately after we saw each other at the prison break.  It instructed me to get in contact with you all, and get you out of the city.  I don't know anything about its motivations, but I know that it threatened my family and had some... I don't know, leverage against each of us.  Including you Thorin.  That's why I've been so weird.  I don't know anything about the creature, but I have suspicions.  I think it is using some kind of Dunamancy.  Specifically Chronurgy, the time bending aspect of Dunamancy.  I focus on the spatial, the Graviturgy, but when I was first learning, I learned the basics of it.  I know how it feels.  Beyond that, I know none of the specifics.  This creature has been hounding me, well, us I guess, for 24 hours now.  I don't understand what it wants from us or why, beyond what I've been told."

Hasira is tired and this style of travel is not something that he appreciates.  He's beat, and worried, and generally an anxious mess.

"Its got blue flames?"

"Ah, by that I was referencing his delivery of letters. Perhaps being a bit dramatic."

Thorin looks over at the dragonborn. "What does it have on me? It tried to kill me and I told it to do its worst. I'm already old. If I die now I'm not loosing much." 

"Ah, you're right, I don't think it actually gave me any specific leverage against you.  It just told me that I need you to come with.  I assume that it's because you were sympathetic to Beornrun."

"So why did it target us?"

"That... I have literally no idea about.  I don't know why it picked us.  I tried to ask it, but it utterly outclassed me when I tried to resist.  I would also like to know what it wants."

Thorin nods. "I don't like the idea of working for someone with hidden motives but I see that most of you have something more than I do at stake. I don't like that idea so I will help you, as long as we don't become any more of criminals than you just did."

"Look, I don't want to commit any crime at all either. However, I won't let my wife die. "
