(Oh, I like that idea Faleon! I'm thinking about how much could a stampede avoid something put in front of them suddenly. Illusion or not. So here's what I'm thinking... I'll do 3 INT checks against your spell DC of 13. Elk have -4. If all three fail then those three in the front manage to make a path around your illusion boulder and the rest follow suit. If any pass it's not so much that they saw through the illusion as they just couldn't get out of the way of it. In that case you and Oscar will need the Dex saves.)
Elk: 7, 14, -1
The first elk to get to you hesitates for a moment but swerves around the boulder. The second looks like it's going to crash right into it but manages a leap off to the side. The third elk veers around the 'boulder' as well and by this time the herd is alerted to it's presence and parts around it. Oscar and Faleon have a front row seat as legs and hooves thunder past them kicking up dirt and grass.
(OOC: Does that mean the stealth check wasn't needed then, and I still have the inspiration? I don't mind either way - your call)
Faleon smirks to himself a little, despite the terrifying sound as the Elk herd thunders around them. Not quite able to believe his trick had worked, but intensely satisfied that all of his training and dedication, learning from Elril had actually had real, practical use in the world outside the Dale.
Bree and Gallo are totally safe from the impending stampede. They find little hidey holes that are totally out of the way.
Oscar? I want to be clear on your action. You're forgoing your other stealth check and spending that action to give Faleon the bonus from Warding bond and do a regular dex save to avoid damage based on your first roll of 14? (which is pretty dang for you!)
After the stampede has past, Oscar would look around.. still holding his shield out in front of himself. "Well ya.. that was a neat trick!" he would with a sigh of relief.
After the sound of the stampede finally fades away you don't see any more shapes in the fog but you can still hear noises ahead of you. Strange screeches and occasionally snapping sounds. It reminds you a little of the noises that ravens makes when fighting over a carcass.
You all cautiously make your way further into the pass. The ground has been completely torn up and trampled into a mud pit making it difficult terrain so it's slow going.
After a little while of slogging through the mud you see shapes start to resolve in the fog. There are 2 large griffon screeching at each other as they tear chunks of flesh off an elk between them.
Bree is tapping her foot with restrained energy as the group waits. "Sure we couldn't..." She would start several times, but be shushed by the group. Then she would start to whistle, again getting shushed.
"Finally." She would say once the griffins flew off. "Let's get moving..." She would then head out with the others.
oscar would sigh impatiently multiple times as the griffons eat their meal. When they finally leave he would release a loud pent up groan. "FINALLY! UGGGHHH" He would shout as he slings his mace over his shoulder. "This trip is gunna take forever if we hafta stop fer every bit of wildlife along the way."
As you finally get moving again you see the elk the griffon had torn apart. There's barely any meat left on it and several of the bones have been snapped and scattered around. The whole area has been churned and scraped mixing mud and blood. Once you get past the scene of carnage the walking gets easier. It's still wet and muddy but not churned up from the stampede.
As you travel through the rest of the afternoon the rain starts to taper off and the visibility improves. The end of the pass is in sight and you can see it give way to rolling hills and scattered forests. Just as night is falling you hear the sound of water and find the spring at the end of the pass that Tog spoke of. It's a very idyllic looking spot. A crystal clear flow of water trickles down moss covered rocks to collect in a small pool. The pool itself looks shallow and is about 6' around, nestled in between a few boulders. There is a cluster of purple irises growing in one of the spaces between boulders on the right. To the left is a brier of black-caps.
Gallo says, "I don't know too much about camping, but I don't think it's a good idea to hog a watering hole like this. Lets take our fill and move further away from this."
"Don't be such a worry wart Gallo" Oscar would say as he removes his helmet. "It gets awful hot and sweaty under this thing and a bath sounds nice.." He would say looking towards the water. "I'd fill yer waterskins before I get in there if I were you..." He would add as he places his shield and mace on the ground and begins to undress. "We don't hafta camp here but I think a dip might be nice.

yup!
Bree stays in hiding after the sounds of the stampede fades, wondering if something was chasing the creatures.

Bree's voice comes out of the mist. "Shall we continue to move quietly?" She asks.
Gallo says, "Might be a bit late for that. Lets just continue."
"I ain't worried about being quiet.. the critters around here sure aren't" Oscar would sway with a grin as he clunked his way down the path.
"Fine with me." Bree says, stepping out of the mist and skipping along with the others. She begins to whistle a tune as she moves along.

Gallo stops and says very quietly, "Lets let them finish their breakfast, shall we."
And he heads back into the fog to the side of the road onto firmer ground and waits.
You all wait until the noise dies down and after a couple hours you hear the griffons flying off.

"Anyone else want to take a swim?" Bree asks, smiling at the clear pool. "We are camping here tonight after all, right?"
Gallo says, "I don't know too much about camping, but I don't think it's a good idea to hog a watering hole like this. Lets take our fill and move further away from this."
