Melody gasps, "The very thought," she says, pulling a cracked bottle from her pocket. "I found this near the goblin. Why would I lie to the Watch?"

Casting Prestidigitation to make it look like Melody has evidence

Auric:

Smiling at the bard, Auric says, “One must show discretion in sharing important tactical information, even if it is with law enforcement.  Still, I trust you will properly and honorably deal with any more...potions...that may show themselves.”

"Besides..." Mal'thrae says as he approaches them, handing the loose end of the goblin's rope to the guards. "What matters is that the goblin's stopped. My friend here talked to it while I wrapped the rope around its legs. It fell over (my other valiant friend here sparing her from being crushed as it fell and then shrunk. The little bugger identified itself as 'Gribble.'"

He sighs and looks toward the destroyed market square. "Bigger concern is getting everyone's stuff back. Gribble here doesn't seem like the type to have enough to pay full reparations to everyone."

Rayner looks at the goblin: “ Master Gribble, now look at what drinking potions that have no labels did, you need to be more careful!” He snides at the goblin, with his finger pointed at the creature.

Valen nods as it appears the group has the matter well in hand.  "Shall we get back to our drinks then?" he asks them.  He give the watch a nod of respect.  "Unless you have need of us for something more..."

Auric:

Shrugging, Auric heads back over to his lance and picks it up, stowing it and heading back to the Yawning Portal.  "Hopefully my squire hasn't downed all our drinks yet," he jests.

"Oh I almost forgot about those drinks," Melody sighs, "let's hope some random dude didn't finish them for us," she smiles, tucking the lamp into her bag.

(Nice work...turned what could have been a dicey battle into a social interaction!)

The guard looks a little confused, but takes the bottle and walks off shaking his head. Gribble is pulled along, sobbing and wailing. One of the other guards pulls out a purse with 20 gold pieces and hands it to Mal'thrae, saying "for your assistance." before walking off as well. The area goes quiet for a few seconds, and then cheers erupt from the gathered crowd. As you walk back through towards the Portal, people are patting you on the back, shouting encouragements and praise, and offers for drinks. "Finest handling of a goblin and da watch I seen!" says one particularly bleary eyed human. Once you make it back to the Portal, once again, all of your drinks and food are purchased for you with requests to relive the encounter.

Valen retakes his seat and keeps an eye on the door as he drinks from an ale.

Rayner returns, now praising Melody and Mal'thrae to all the patrons. He goes a little overboard on the ale, and might make some aditional details that didn't hapen.

Auric:

Smiling and heading over to the bar, Auric again picks up the drink orders.  Nodding at Durnan, he says, “Well, that was over quickly.  Let me know if you hear of any more good-paying work for us adventurous types.”  

The Dragonborn takes the drinks to the table and settles in to listen to Rayner’s story.  Noticing it going off the rails a bit, he chimes in and tries to help with some well-places nudges (using the Help action to give Rayner advantage on that storytelling roll).

Mal'thrae is beaming as he and the others head back to the portal. He thanks the guards.

As they're returning, he takes some coin out of the purse. Of the 20 gp, he gives Melody 10 and Auric 5, and keeps the last 5. Over quippers and an ale, he happily tells of the party's deeds. He also takes the charm he has, looks at it, and smiles, thanking Ellistraee (goddess of surface-dwelling and rogue drow) for their good fortune.

Melody cringes at Rayner's attempts, but she has a rule about not telling her own story so stays silent.

Urukar trudges back to the inn behind everyone else.  He grumbles to himself about not getting to fight the goblin as he sits down with the others.  Once the hubbub around their activities dies down, he slams his tankard on the table.  "If you are all done with the fawning fools, perhaps now we can eat!"

"Yes, food would be good." Valen agrees.  "Were we trying for lizard or horse, I forget?"

Auric:

"Definitely not lizard," says Auric, his own scales flaring a little bit at the thought.

"Oh you're all so funny," Melody laughs, "why would you be worried about horses and lizards?"

Rayner starts telling the story, and keeps drinking. Everyone seems to be enjoying at first, but when he starts talking about the mind flayers and flibbertigibbets, they start edging away. Auric's inputs help him back on track, and a few more drinks make him interesting again, bringing everyone back.

Food is delivered, drinks are served, and a grand time is had by all.

Melody laughs and has another drink before excusing herself, planning on going back to the scene of the crime looking for the Djinn
