Auric keeps an ear towards the conversations around him, trying to determine what opportunities for glory and honor might be ripe for the taking.

Melody pauses as she prepares to leave, thinking about it for a moment. Could he have returned to the lamp without her realizing it?

Urukar grumbles as the crowds gather round them again like flies.  At least in his homeland, doing something considered 'heroic' would only get you a few challenges to combat from other orcs looking to prove themselves.  Despite horse nor lizard being available on the menu, he still wolfs down his meal, and then sits watching Auric curiously as he manages to eavesdrop on the entire room at once.

Mal’thrae attempts to be proactive, asking Durnan and anyone else he can find if they’ve heard of any opportunities, jobs, and the like for him and the party. He references the fight with the goblin, buys a drink or two for people if it’s needed. Whatever’s asked for, Mal’thrae hears them out, even if it seems to not be what they’re looking for.

Melody: you're thinking that djinn can reappear in their lamps. He probably went back in there.

Auric: you overhear several conversations of middling importance, and don't pick up on anything promising. You do, however, notice several people in the milling crowd that look like they've taken an interest in a few members of your group. They seem to just be observing right now.

Mal'thrae: you don't get much more than a surly shrug from Durnan, and you pick up on the same piddly jobs that Auric overheard, and are no more interested in them. You do gain some friends with your efforts, though.

Melody smiles pleasently for a while before dismissing herself, "Do pardon me, after all the excitement of the day I need some alone time." She leaves for her room and sits down on the bed, rubbing the lamp once again.

Satisfied with the day’s work, Mal’thrae waits for the group to wrap up. If they want to head back to their new home to sleep, he’ll follow them, otherwise he’ll turn in for the night as well.

Valen continues to scan the crowd and watch the door as the group does whatever they were doing.

Passive perception and insight are both 14.

When the group starts to break up he would return to his home for the night, or to the new place if others are going back there.

Auric:

With a meaningful glance towards Valen, the brass dragonborn moves over to one of the individuals quietly observing his group and says, "Can I buy you a drink, friend?  Maybe answer any questions you might have?"

OOC:  If it matters which one, Auric approaches the individual who seems to have taken the most interest in Valen, as he is concerned that whomever is after his friend may have found him.

You aren't able to pinpoint one keeping an eye on Valen in particular, so you approach the nearest. It's a hefty dwarf who wears expensive clothing, and has been watching the group as a whole. He watches you all the way to his table and gives a thin smile as you sit down. No need, I believe I've seen enough. I have a question for you-ever heard of The Order of the Gauntlet?

Auric:

Somewhat taken aback that the dwarf doesn’t immediately start asking about Valen or their group in general, Auric responds warily, “Aye, they are a group of dedicated individuals who follow human deities of honor and holiness. I know little more than that; why do you ask?”

Not sure exactly what is going on, Auric tried to decide if this dwarf is truly interested in Auric’s view on the Order, or if he is trying to distract him so as to better focus on Valen.

Insight:  10

The dwarf is stone-faced, and you can't get a read on him at all. You are correct. We are always looking for capable warriors who would fit in with our ideals...the way your group has been dealing with the issues that have been cropping up in Waterdeep has brought you to our attention.

Auric:

   Relaxing fractionally, the young Paladin says, “You are part of this organization, then?  Very interesting.  I personally would be very interested in coordinating with your Order at the very least, as we have common goals and likely common approaches.  I cannot speak for my companions, however.”

Looking back at his other companions, he adds, “But we are looking for work—of the adventuring kind—and quests that encourage righteousness in the face of evil could nudge us in a beneficial direction as a group.  Do you have anything for us in that vein?”

Rayner with all the talking, all the drinking, maybe some patron would offer him some work?

Valen stays put at the table, eyes always scanning, always moving back to the door.  He would eye random people as they walk in, trying to decide if they finally have decided to make a move, but nothing ever happens.  it does not make him less watchful or relaxed.

The dwarf pauses for a long moment, staring directly into Auric's eyes. Finally, he says Perhaps. We'll be in touch. He lays down a gold piece on the table and walks off without looking back.

Rayner, you don't get offered any work today, but you make a few contacts that say they'll keep their ears open.

Valen, no one approaches you.

Rayner having met some new contacts, pays the tab, and heads back to the trollskull manor, to rest.( he already has changed his stuff to there)

Seeing some of his companions heading out, Valen heads back to the manner as well.

Auric:

Assuming that gold piece is for the dwarf’s tab, so Auric leaves it alone.  Heading back to the others, He heads back to the manor with the others.

OOC:  What time of day is it?

(It's late afternoon)

You make your way back to the manor, and you almost walk by it. The outside has been transformed into a beautiful landmark in the alley. You almost don't recognize it. Walking in, you see the same thing's happened inside. The floors are shiny and polished, there's a lovely oak bar with gleaming taps lined up behind it, and fine tables and chairs fill the dining room.
