"Right, right." Mal'thrae sits back in a chair, rubbing his elbow. "There's gotta be a guildhall for food and alcohol somewhere. Think they're still open? I'll go if you want, along with anyone else." He looks to Urukar.

Auric:

The suite of rooms on the top floor is elegantly functional and simple.  The rooms for the squire and page are comfortable, and the cupola for the lizard mount is cozy and dry.  Auric's room is a simple affair, though the luxurious fine sand used for cleaning his scales was a nice touch.  Room for his possessions and a small shrine to Bahumat round out the décor.

Coming downstairs, Auric says to Melody, "I'm not sure exactly how all this got done, but please give my thanks to our benefactor."

Urukar grunts in approval at the mention of procuring food and drink.  "Better than sitting here waiting for more of you to fall through the floor."

Mal'thrae or Urukar, make a history or investigation check. (whichever makes the roll can have advantage if the other helps)

If allowed, he would also ask Valen for guidance, adding 4 to the roll.

It takes you a little while, and by the time you find the right place, it's closed. You'll be able to go by tomorrow and get some booze.

Mal'thrae sighs.

"Tomorrow then. Bright and early." he says, yawning. "Back to the manor, then."

The half drow and half orc return, where he tells the others of the place they had found, and their intention to visit tomorrow.

"If you had not insisted on the left turn at the fountain, rather than the right, it would still have been open", Urukar grumbles, as Mal'thrae updates the others.

"They probably wouldn't have been able to get anything ready anyway if it came down to one turn. Getting enough stock for an entire tavern takes a good while." Mal'thrae says as he leans back in a chair. "No point worrying about it now."

You all sleep wonderfully in your newly appointed bedrooms. The night passes, and light begins to creep in. It's almost time to wake up when a loud banging on the door to the tavern can be heard throughout the whole mansion.

Mal’thrae, his hair ruffled, goes downstairs and opens the door.

Mal'thrae opens up to a human in carpenter's clothing, with quite an angry look on his face. Finally! Just what do you think you were doing, exactly? He looks expectantly at Mal'thrae, obviously not asking a rhetorical question.

Auric:

The noise awakening him, Auric sends his page down to find out what is going on and starts getting ready for the day.  Putting on his gambeson, he calls over his squire to help him properly don his armor.

Mal’thrae rubs his eyes as he listens to the carpenter. He manages to piece together the situation rather quickly.

”Oh. Ah sh*t. Sent here because as far as you know, the reconstruction wasn’t done by licensed members of the carpenter’s guild? Do I have everything right, sir? Come in, we’ll sort this out.”

The man storms in. You're damned right! No construction is to take place without the approval of a licensed member. And....he trails off, looking around the place, eyes widening. My....you have done some work...He remembers his place and whirls around. You've redone the entire place! We had no idea construction was even going on!

Auric, your page runs back up, out of breath. "Angry (huff) human (huff) carpenter, from the sound..." he continues huffing.

“I see, I see. Before we talk further, my name is Mal’thrae. Mal for short. How might I address you, sir?”
