Lanarial will scout out the area while Iri checks on Tex. Horses and a lone cow...maybe the ranchers tried to escape the orcs and are here in Conyberry somewhere? Well, where there is one cow, there are probably more, so listens and sniffs the wind for that distinct odor of farm animals...
Realizing what happened to Tex, Iri collapses on the ground looking at her hands. They are shaking. But... No... There must be something I can do... She sends out a silent prayer to Selune, to the spirits of the forest, to anyone listening, Please, there must be a way for me to save him. As her vision gets blurry, she looks back up at Tex and mouths at him, "I'm so sorry." Slumping back down to the ground she shakes her head. I can heal any mortal wound, but there is nothing I can do for him. Why not? Dear gods how can I save him?
Vi settles for forming a perimeter while Iri looks at Tex, just in case there are some lurking raiders or wild animals. When she sees Iri collapse, she immediately runs over to the pair. "What is it? What's wrong? Is it Tex, is he bad, or did something happen to you?"
Gareth-Wyn watches as his fellow goliath succumbs to sickness. He contemplatively hefts his greatsword. "Tex." He mutters. He seems about to say more, but snarls a little and walks forward to stay in front of the wagon as we progress to Butterskull.
Butterskull Ranch occupies a large plot of land on the north side of the Triboar Trail, nestled between two hills. Beyond a ramshackle wooden fence stand corn fields, an apple orchard, gardens, and pasture land. A path breaks off from the trail to lead to a two-story farmhouse next to a pond. West of the farmhouse are the charred remains of a barn and smithy that have been burned to the ground.
Pigs harmlessly wander the fields, gardens, and orchard. Between the farmhouse and the gutted barn lie the scattered corpses of two orcs and five humans (ranch hands) swarming with flies.

By the time the wagon gets onto the ranch, Tex’s fever breaks, his skin, while very pallid even by Goliath standards, doesn’t appear to be getting worse. Whatever curse was plaguing him has settled in for better or worse. Tex will stand, and, drawing on his background as a bounty hunter, search around at the bodies of ranch hands and orcs to get a better sense of how recent the activity is around the ranch
Iri doesn't respond to Vi, doesn't really respond to anyone. The rest of the way up to the ranch, she is very uncharacteristically quiet. She follows the rest of the party, lost in thought, shuffling after them.
Vi narrows her eyes, but elects not to push either Iri or Tex. She frowns upon seeing the bodies and sends Talav aloft to find out the source of the noise. "Not promising. Hey Gareth, toss me your greatsword. I promise you'll get it back in a second."
Provided he does so, the half-elf holds it and bows her head for a moment, focusing. "Feanor," she calls softly, and silver fire runs across the blade of the sword. Vi tosses the weapon back to Gareth. "Fire won't hurt you, but it'll do a number on your enemies."
Note: Gareth's greatsword is now a +1 magical weapon for as long as Vi maintains concentration, or an hour max.

Gareth-Wyn grins as the blade shimmers with magic. "Good."
With that, Gareht-Wyn will, perhaps uselessly, make an attempt at stealth, staying low to the ground and at the back of the group for an approach to the house.
Lanarial checks in ont he group before they head from Conyberry to the ranch, and looks at Tex lying in the back of the wagon impassively. "If he's infected by the wererat's bite, it may be better to kill him now while he's weak. Just sayin'..." He then moves ahead again to scout for the group.
Once at the farm, the rogue, of course, elects for a stealthy approach to the disturbance in the farm house. Bow drawn and poison applied to three arrows, he keeps tot he dark edges of the hills or the crops, staying our of sight and walking without making any extra sounds... (Stealth: 23)

Vi glances at Lanarial and says quietly to him, "I know there's a spell that can deal with it, I just don't have access - or power - to deal with it yet. For now, at least, let's hold off on pre-emptive murder."
The farmhouse is a two-story log building with a pitched, shingled roof and a stone chimney. Its wooden doors are set with iron handles and hinges. Its windows are fitted with wooden shutters that can be bolted shut from inside. All the shutters are open.
The first floor of the farmhouse contains a kitchen, which holds a large butter churn, worktables, shelves of foodstuffs and ale, and hanging pots and pans. Atop a small table is a skull-shaped wooden butter mold. The entire place has been ransacked and it smells like unwashed bodies in here. There is a dining room that contains two wooden trestle tables flanked by benches. Cattle skulls on the walls add to the decor. Finally, an open closet contains shelves holding dinnerware.
You can clearly hear the sounds of orcs upstairs - they are ransacking the place.
You guys head upstairs into what appears to be a common room. Padded chairs and game tables are arranged about this room. Scattered on the floor are Three-Dragon Ante playing cards and wooden Dragonchess pieces. A group of frustrated orcs are trashing the furniture. They're making so much noise they don't even see you pad up the stairs until it's too late. They're five of them in this room. You guys have a round of surprise.
The rogue is in his element, and fights the urge to whisper something witty. No, the benefit of an ambush is to strike hard, strike silently, and sow as much chaos and confusion as you can. So he pops around the door frame and selects the largest orc, or the one who may wield magic, and sends an arrow streaking toward its thick skull. He then quickly hides again, drawing his next poisoned arrow...
