Tex nods, “Thank you, miss Vi. Having an eye in the sky would help. And your right, well, right about a lot but mostly about us keeping each other safe.... ok, and the Iri thing, I’ll talk to her....After we take out the orcs??” (At this, Tex’s cool demeanor DROPS and a 7’ tall nervous wreck stands before you, all goofy and big, think Kronk from the New Groove franchise) “I’m just a simple frontier boy Vi, I have not interacted with another humanoid in the romantic way before and I’m getting too much in my head about it now! Maybe some fighting will clear my head?”
Vi gives him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Tex, I'm pretty sure she's about as inexperienced as you are. But if you're getting too much in your head, then see if dealing with the orcs helps clear your head a bit. But don't wait too long either, okay? There's never going to be a perfect time."
Tex takes a big sigh, forcing the air out slow, relaxing his tense shoulders. “Thank you. You’ve given me a lot to think about. I promise to talk with her AFTER we take care of these orcs, I think having a beautiful moonlit sky will help.” He’ll smile at Vi and nod his head before heading back inside to share what he learned about the woodland manse and the surrounding area with the group, ready to get started on the job.

Vi smiles back at Tex and watches the goliath head in, Talav coming down from the sky to perch on her shoulder. After communicating his new instructions, Vi feeds him a few more morsels before the raven takes to the sky.
The half-elf watches the black bird climb higher and scans the horizon briefly, eyebrows furrowed. Despite her reassuring words to Tex, she was still worried. She'd done well enough against Cryovain, but he'd taken a heavy toll on the whole team. She knew, in her gut, that the only way to do this was to keep fighting, to get stronger. But she was also worried...the last time she'd pushed through in a battle regardless of what her companion said...it hadn't ended well.
Thirteen years ago...
Vi's ears caught the sound of shouts and screams. She looked at her father, eyes wide. "What was that?" Cirion shook his head. "I don't know. Be cautious." Vi nodded, and the two warriors moved through the forest in a blur, peering down at the road. Before their eyes was a gut-wrenching sight. A young couple had clearly been traveling on the road, as evidenced by the horse and cart stopped in the middle of the road. The couple were standing in the road, pressed against the wall of the cart, their eyes wide with fear. Surrounding them were three bandits with swords out, two more with crossbows visible a bit down the road. A sixth bandit stood before the couple, smirking as he tossed a dagger into the air and caught it, over and over. Vi gasped and stared at her father. "We have to help them!" "Absolutely not," Cirion replies flatly. "It is not our place to interfere. We move on before we, too, attract their attention." "But...they need help, Cirion!" Vi objected. When she received only a shake of Cirion's head, the half-elf's face set into determined lines. Abruptly, she leapt down into the road, pulling her sword from her sheath. She heard a curse as Cirion raced after her, calling her a lot of things (like stubborn, thoughtless, short-sighted).
The first bandit fell with her blade through his heart before he even realized it. She stretched a hand out, and a bolt of ice pierced one of the crossbowmen through the side. She heard shouts as Cirion engaged the rest of the bandits, and focused in on the dagger wielding leader. Her blade came up to block his first slash, then a shield of spectral flames threw off his following stab. She ducked under the blade as it whistled towards her head, sending her own shortsword towards his leg. A bloom of blood heralded her success, quickly followed by a stab of pain as his dagger sliced along her neck. Vi gritted her teeth, feeling blood run down her back, but kept up her defenses, blocking the next blow. But she could tell the third would connect with her shoulder, rendering her unable to use her sword. Just as the blade pierced her sleeve, the bandit staggered, gurgling. Cirion yanked his blade out of the leader's chest, face tight with concentration. He narrowed his eyes at her. "We are going to have a serious conv-" His voice cut off in a gasp as he staggered forward, a crossbow bolt in his chest.
Vi let out a strangled cry as she saw the final bandit lowering his crossbow. Without even a thought, she expended the last of her arcane power to send three fiery missiles flying at him, knocking him groaning to the ground. She grabbed Cirion as her father fell, his blade tumbling from his hands. "No. No, no, no..." She shook her head desperately, but he was already gone. Vi bowed her head over his body for a moment, tears stinging her eyes, then looked up at the groaning crossbowman, currently trying to rise. She picked her father's sword up from the ground. "You're not going anywhere."
Vi looked around the sight of the battle, wiping the bandits' blood from her father's blade. The couple had already fled from the scene, back when the fighting first started. Now, there was just her, the bandits corpses, and her father's body. Vi looked down at the elvish rune on the pommel of her father's blade. Raven. She narrowed her eyes. The bandits here needed more than just some guards. They needed something to fear. A monster in the dark. The elf pulled her hunting knife from her belt and began carving a symbol in the side of the cart.
Following a trail through the woods, you come to a foggy clearing, in the midst of which stands a crumbling two-story manse all but hidden beneath thorny ivy. The large house is set atop a six-foot-high stone foundation, and the main entrance has a balcony above it. Pumpkins grow wild in patches around the manse, with several wild boars feeding among them. The boars snort with contempt as you draw near.
You guys arrive from the west side, heading towards the manse.
