Seeing as how he might fall into the flowing waters, Farnakees secures himself with a rope (50 ft) to one of the bridge posts. If/when he reaches the middle, he will ask his companions to toss him a rope tied to the bridge post on the opposite bank, then cut the first rope.
Lathalas hollers at the goliath from across the bridge. "I'll thank you for leaving the plate armor and iron pots by the bridge. No need to bring them into an area built for smaller folk than you. And it'll be easier for us to save you from drowning."
Mithrokk also hollers, “And no need to waste good rope; just use one. We’ll fasten one end on this side, you tie the other end around your torso, then cross.”
The bridge sags five feet above the water when Farnakees crosses, then snaps.
OOC - So when the bridge collapses, Farnakees is tied to a rope on the other end. He catches the rope thrown to him by Mithrokk, so the tension between the two ropes leaves him suspended over the water. When he cuts the rope on the other side, he'll still fall in the water then. Am I missing something?
OOC - All the way across from the midpoint of the bridge? I know there's a goliath in your party; how come I didn't notice the storm giant there as well? I'm going to rule that barring giants or the use of magic, the party does not possess sufficient strength to yank Farnakees all the way to the other side of the bridge. As for being pulled to the bank on the other side, what bank? There's no bank; you'll hit a cliff face. I'll rule that the party can try to pull Farnakees when the rope snaps, putting him on a collision course with the cliff face; he can roll a DC 12 Dexterity save to avoid 1d6 collision damage. Or they can let him fall into the water, then pull him out afterward. It's likely the water will cushion his fall and he'll take no damage.
OOC: No need to make an Athletics check; your buddies will pull you up. This bridge is wrecked, though, which means you'll have to climb to get to the other side.
The party is in a passageway headed west. This area is lightly obscured by mist from the waterfall. In the room beyond the passageway are two rapidly spinning devices that look like turnstiles fitted with stacks of long, sharp blades spaced 1 foot apart. The northern turnstile spins counterclockwise, while the southern one spins clockwise.
Farnakees is ever so greatful... He thanks Lathalas for spotting those restrooms along the way. Otherwise he'd be a bit more stinky, and a little less presentable to the party's gnomish benefactors.... He thinks Alianna would agree.
Rastaris: Structural Damage: 5
Lath structural: 4
OOC: When we need to roll high, we roll low. When we need to roll low, we roll high. 🙉
Mithrokk makes it across.
OOC: Roll high, Farnakees, roll high, hehehe ...
OOC: Whew! That was close. You can do it, Farnakees! Roll low... roll a 1...
OOC: Sorry busy :-(. D8 right? Weight: 260 weight + 234 equipment = 594

"Lathalas, could you use your Longbow to send the other end of the rope to Farnakees? It's too far for Mage Hand."
OOC - 3 plus 4 plus 5 plus 4 plus 5 = 21.

OOC: Please see posts #1395 and 1396. He only used one rope (secured to our side of the bridge) so we could take up the slack as Farnakees crossed.
OOC: Misplaced as it may seem, Farnakees' expectation is that he will be pulled to the far bank by the rest of the party :-)

OOC: Is that a waterfall on the map?
OOC - Yup, check the descriptions above; the waterfall is beside the bridge youse guy wrecked ... too many Oreos, man.
Farnakees takes his chances on the cliff. He will climb along the cliff face hoping his comrades do not let go should he slip.
Dexterity 4 + 2 = 10.
OOC: Hmmmm, I only edited in the total. Do I need to make an athletics check now? Let me know damage :-)
Farnakees takes 4 damage as he bangs against the cliff.

OOC: What next, intrepid adventurers?
To the DM: Is there space between the turnstiles to pass?
What is the light source in the room?
Any written warnings?
