Only ubermenschen like elves and dwarves see the spinning the blades. The hoo-man and the goliath can feel the wind coming from the room, but see nothing in the darkness.
OOC: Those with Darkvision can see that you cannot enter the room without getting hit by the blades.
OOC: Farnakees wants to make a good impression with the gnomes he tried to intimidate ealier?
Rastaris makes a thorough search of the passageway, but cannot find any secret doors or passages. If the spinning blades are an illusion, he thinks, they must be a powerful one with tactile elements, since he can feel the air pushed by the turnstile.
OOC - Standing just outside the entrance to the room, barely beyond the reach of the spinning blades, you see a small alcove to the west. You cannot see any gnomes there, though.
OOC - The range of the Find Familiar spell is 10 feet. No matter where you make Xelote appear, he is going to end up chicken nuggets.
OOC - Also, I just realized that this spell costs 10 gp to cast. At the bare minimum, you've already spent 40 gold pieces for this continuous re-summoning of Xelote. Where's that money coming from?
OOC - Given that Farnakees is speaking in Common, he gets no response to his feeding call.
OOC: Thanks for reminding me ...

Rastaris casts Light on his staff. With the room illuminated, he evaluates the scene.
Seeing the turnstiles, Rastaris ponders what is powering them?
"Mithrokk, could you check the walls in this passageway? The gnomes are known for their mastery of illusion as much as their expertise in tinkering."
"See if you, or anyone, can find a secret door or panel."
To the DM - Is there anything in the room unusual or out of place?
OOC: Make a Perception or Investigation check then.
Investigation Check: 7 +5 = 24

To the DM: How strong is the wind generated by the turnstiles? Gentle breeze?
OOC: Farnakees is a perplexing web of contradictions. He puts the oxy in moron.
OOC: Fairly strong, but not enough to push you back if you enter the room.
Farnakees taps the Paladin... "Leeeroy Jenkins time?"
OOC: You want to kick down the fans? Oooh-kay ...
Farnakees taps Mithrokk to suggest it's his turn should he want it. Farnakees doesn't intend to try that one out.
Seeing the whirling blades, Farnakees reconsiders the valiant but foolish example of his personal hero.
OOC - So the plan is ...
OOC to DM: What does the path to G12 look like? Does it look feasible for us to reach?
OOC - To get to G12, you have to climb down to the pool, swim to dry land, then climb 30 feet up the cliff to the cave.
To the DM: Do we see any gnomes beyond the turnstiles?
Farnakees remember the last time the party chickened out of climbing cliff faces. What was the excuse?
"Squaddies, maybe time for supplies?"
"Yo Gnome boys! Gnomies! We got your seals here...." Farnakees calls out.... "Cute little seals..."
OOC - Standing just outside the entrance to the room, barely beyond the reach of the spinning blades, you see a small alcove to the west. You cannot see any gnomes there, though.
Rastaris thinks that the turnstiles may be turning too fast even for the agile elf.
"Lathalas, please watch over me as I may be unaware of my immediate surroundings for the next few minutes."
Not wanting to risk Xelote flying through the area, Rastaris decides on an alternative course of action.
He concentrates and temporarily dismisses Xelote and has him reappear beyond the turnstiles (as far from the blades as he can).
Once on the other side, Rastaris sees through Xelote's eyes and inspects the area.
