No sound is heard from the other side of the door, and your attempt to finesse it open reveals that it is stuck and will require brute strength to be forced open.
"Damn," Anakis mutters as the door doesn't budge. "Can I get a little help to open this door? I'm not strong enough to open it and it's stuck. I'd rather move before anymore of those things come for us. I didn't hear anything on the other side."
Tarek steps forward to work together with you for advantage on opening the door. "I'll help you, my dear," says the paladin. "Only next time you cast one of your spells, try not to do it in my direction, okay?"
He smiles good-naturedly and counts to three before giving the door a forceful shove. Strength: 15
The door pops right open revealing a chamber about twenty feet deep and thirty feet wide. There are two ten-foot wide passageways leading out straight across the chamber from you and another narrower passageway to the left. Against the opposite wall, between the two passageways, are six sacks nearly full of copper-colored coins, with coins made of a bright white metal interspersed among them. Positioned around the sacks are eight person-sized mushrooms with many large holes in their caps, and in front of the collection of sacks, you can see a crudely made wooden sign on which is written in large lettering:
COINZ PROPERTY OF KRORUT. ANYONE TAKE KRORUT COINZ KRORUT SMASH!
Anakis, from where you are at the doorway, you can hear several of the mushrooms emitting faint whispery noises that sound like someone blowing air across the mouth of a bottle.
"I wonder who Krorut is? He has some musical mushrooms here," Anakis points to the mushrooms as they whistle gently, "Do you hear that? I wonder where the wind is coming from to make that sound? Do you think he's eating those mushrooms?" She suddenly realises she's spouting questions and stops, looking around (Perception looking for anything that looks unfriendly: 15). "Pity we can't carry a heap more coins, cause that is a lot of coin!" she exclaims quietly to no one in particular.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Aluzira shrugs in response to all of Anakis’ questions, “I have no idea but considering what the sign says perhaps it’s best we can’t take anymore. Although those mushrooms are very interesting...” she closes her eyes and listens to the mushrooms trying to see if there’s any pattern to there whispering.
The whispered notes of the fungi have no discernable pattern, and there's nothing particularly unfriendly looking about them except, as you observe them, they seem to occasionally shift their weight, their stems quivering slightly with the movement. Also, as you listen, there seems to be a palpable tension in their piping, Aluzira, as if something is being held back which could erupt at any moment.
I'm assuming no one has entered the room. What do you do?
Anakis looks longingly at the piles of coin, then to Aluzira as she recommends they leave them alone. "What if we tried to talk to Krorut? I mean, he's all alone down here. He might offer us some coin if we did something nice for him?" She looks back to the coins, "I could call out for him? He's probably just lonely, and he'd have to keep his door closed because of all the insects and bugs outside. Yuck. Maybe now he can go outside and doesn't need to stay locked up in here?"
“Possibly, I suppose it couldn’t hurt. But don’t get to close to the mushrooms or coins. They seem a bit tense in the way the whisper, like an alarm waiting to be triggered almost.”
Anakis takes a deep breath in, then using Thaumaturgy yells out with a booming voice, "HEY MISTER KRORUT! WE'RE HERE TO VISIT YOU AND HELP YOU OUT! WE SAW ALL THE BUGS OUTSIDE KEEPING YOU FROM GOING OUT!" As soon as she does this though, Anakis is prepared to leg it out of the room, quick smart.
(OOC - ah, sorry, I had thought we'd had to go in to see everything in the room. So I had thought Anakis was standing just in the doorway. I'm happy to play it there, though she would not have let the door close.)
No worries, I just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page. The door doesn't close.
As soon as the threshold is crossed by the two of you, the stems of the mushrooms swell with air, and from the holes that dot their caps comes a high-pitched and ear-piercingly loud shrieking noise that fills the chamber and echoes out into the halls in every direction, combining with and somewhat drowning out your enhanced voice, Anakis. The screech is continuous and shows no signs of ending.
Anakis covers her ears as the screeching continues. She tries to talk to the others, but her words are drowned out by the screaming mushrooms. She waves a hand to get the others' attention, points to a mushroom, then creates a mote of fire in her palm - Should I try burning the mushrooms?
Aluzira covers her ears and seeing Anakis’ gesture shrugs before looking to the others to see what they think. Then with a jerk of her head towards the doorway, tries to suggest they move out of the room in the meantime and steps outside the room.
The mushrooms keep up their horrific shrieking even after you've left the room. "I hope this doesn't attract any unwanted attention!" Remacle does his best to shout above the din, and the halflings begin looking back over their shoulders to see if anything's coming. So far nothing is. What do you do?
Anakis nods as she think she makes out what Remacle says, then turns to the mushrooms and fires fire bolts at one continuously as she attempts to set it alight. As she does this she watches into the room for anything that starts to move (Perception: 7).

Aluzira jumps a little, surprised by the loudness of Anakis’ voice before also preparing to run at a moments notice.
Anakis, are you (and/or Aluzira) now in the chamber? That is, did you go through the doorway?
Aluzira probably would’ve remained outside the doorway unless Anakis went to in to call out Krorut in which case she would’ve followed her in.
