"Aye, the girl is in a tree watchin' over the toads. They still be together, an' they buried themselves underground. I set a clear, easy to follow trail back to where they sit, but it's a couple leagues away. I told the girl we'd camp closer to her, but if yer tired we can rest. She's safe enough. That said, I'll still wanna get a move on real early so we kin pick up their trail again tomorrow."

"Doesn't matter to me if we hike a bit before settling in for the night." Fluin says with an easy shrug. "Can also just get an early start in the morning too, either way is fine by me."
"Then let us rest here, since breaking down this camp would take more time than it would be worth, and doing it twice doesn't seem like a good use of time." Fluin states, ready to sleep so they can get an early start the next day.
As dusk turns to night, and the full moon rises over the bog, you see the toads emerge from their burrows on the opposite side of the pool, Anakis, all of them between 75 and 80 feet from you. They all seem well rested as they dart from their holes after anything that moves. Even the one that had looked worn down as it fled from the battle this morning now looks strong and full of energy as it hops around, looking for a promising spot from which to ambush any unwary victim that happens along. They begin working their way towards you, down to the water's edge where they are more likely to come across some creature that has come to the pool for a drink before it heads home to its cozy warren to wait out the coming freeze.
Back at the camp, darkness falls as Aluzira takes her watch by the campfire as the sound of drums continues to echo across the bog. Does anyone keep watch with her, or has everyone else gone to bed?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Anakis continues to hide up the tree, pulling her poncho tighter around her. (Do you need me to roll stealth again? Just in case - 17. How many toads can she see in the moonlight, and have they seen her?)
You see all five of the toads. They don't take any notice of you. No need for another check. It covers your entire attempt to remain unnoticed until you come out of hiding.
Anakis remains silent and just observes the toads.
Things that she's keeping an eye out for: - where they end up laying in wait for their ambush if they don't go back to their burrows. - anything that might give us the upper hand in a fight, such as weaknesses etc.
(Also, just out of curiosity and maybe for future use, if I were to use my Witch Bolt on an enemy in water, would the lightning damage other creatures (including other players) in that same water, as it would in real life?)
Please limit questions to clarifications about the established fiction. If you want to know what would happen if your character tried a particular course of action, the best way to find out is to have your character try it. I don't think this is the place for rules discussions, so if you want to know how I'd rule on a particular rules-text or a situation that hasn't come up in the game, send me a personal message. That being said, you can rely on your spells doing what they say they do, despite what you happen to think they would do "in real life" where (as far as I know) there are no spells.
The pond begins to freeze over as the moon climbs into the sky and sails overhead.
At the camp, Aluzira's watch passes without disturbance other than the increasing cold. By the end of her watch, the drummers have ceased their playing for the night.
By midnight, Anakis, you can see the full moon glaring off the pool's frozen surface, and the toads leave its banks and begin to move away into the dark bog to find more promising hunting grounds.
The moon continues its journey across the sky as the bog becomes colder still.
As the dim light of dawn grows in the east, patches of clouds hang over the bog as the wind has dropped to a light air whispering in from the west.
The pool of water near your camp has been found to be clear and wholesome, so everyone in camp starts the day with a full waterskin. Anakis, your waterskin is now empty and the pool overlooked by your tree is cloudy and frozen.
The trail left by Torrent leads past the carved wooden figure in the direction of the place where Anakis and the toads were last seen the prior evening.
Anakis watches silently as the toads move away, making a mental note of the surrounds that she last saw them moving through. (I'm guessing they would have moved outside her 120ft dark vision range, but would she have been able to see them up until then?).
Once the group finds Anakis, she relays everything she saw the night before - the 5 toads, how they all seemed to have recovered and their hunting movements, before indicating where she last saw them.
After helping the others with breaking up the camp, she will follow them as they make their way to Anakis; listening as she relays the information. "At least their hungry, it should make it easier to lure one away," Aluzira says hopefully.
Anakis, the giant toads were visible until they moved beyond the range of your darkvision. You saw them depart across the flat meadow on the other side of the frozen pool.
The sun rises through the clouds as the rest of you journey towards Anakis. The bog is still frozen when you reach the stand of scented fir trees where she is hiding. In the morning light, you can see that the bark of one of the trees you pass is marked with a carved symbol in a style suggestive of the carved wooden figure. From the look of the tracks left by the toads in the frozen grass, they departed many hours ago.

Aluzira nods in agreement and offers to take the first watch.

In the morning Ulben would sugest that the others break down camp as he cooks breakfast.

Torrent would also wake up early, taking the last watch, and breaking down what he can without disturbing the others.
