Torrent, although encumbered, after pushing between Halfling 5 and Nicolas, you're within 20 feet of the piercer with a clear shot, striking it with your thorny vine.
Anakis, after squeezing through the doorway and past Ash, going left, your fire bolt sails past Halfling 7 but bounces off the piercer's stony shell.
Tarek's javelin flies through the open doorway and nearly hits Remacle, who dodges out of the way as it lodges in the remains of the nearest piercer. After moving forward past Remacle and Medard, the midmost piercer blinks at you with its one eye, not comprehending a word you're saying.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Standing astride the remains of the fallen halfling and the creature that killed her, Aluzira's footing, with her first stroke, falters on slime, but her off-hand attack strikes true, bypassing the monster's defenses.
Nicolas's energy beam flies wild, his aim thrown off by the difficulty of his attempted shot into the melee.
From Ash's position, directly behind Remacle, his target has cover from the halfling and Aluzira, and although neither of them are hurt, his crackling beam glances off the creature's shell.
The farthest piercer continues sliding towards the left-hand wall, giving Halfling's 6 and 10 the opportunity to attack with their spears.
Attack: 22 Damage: 3
Attack: 14 Damage: 7
The midmost piercer, having first suffered the point of Halfling 7's spear then the blade of Aluzira's dagger, checks its morale twice.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Halfling 6 drives his spear deep into the farthest piercer's shell and a disgusting smelling slime bubbles forth as the creature stops moving.
The midmost piercer also attempts to flee, trying to slide counterclockwise around Halfling 7, allowing Halfling 3, Aluzira, Tarek, and Halfling 9 all the opportunity to make a melee attack against it.
Tarek, still abrim with rage and seeing the piercer try to move away into his direction, will unsheath his rapier and strike at the piercer. (Attack: 23 Damage: 4)
The third piercer lies dead, but the victory for the halflings is not sweet. They quickly remove the husks of the two piercers that were still over their fallen companions and, placing their weapons alongside them, arrange what's left of their bodies in a form of dignity and rest.
"Alexandria, Folco, Holfast, my brave comrades in arms," cries Remacle, stating their names lovingly one by one as he lingers over their faces, "I've led you to this grisly end. What an overambitious fool I've been."
As the halflings pay their respects to the fallen dead, you can all see that through the doorway that Tarek and Aluzira have opened is another roughly ten foot by ten foot room with doors similarly placed, one directly ahead and one to the right. This room is also filled with cobwebs, but the ceiling is free of the stalactites that hang in the other two rooms. Apparently, this room was used for cooking at one time. Lumps of coal lie scattered about a makeshift fireplace where the petrified crusts of some kind of pastry, probably pie, seem to have been left behind in a hurry. There are also some sacks of herbs lying about and an abandoned kitchen utensil, perhaps used to mash fruit or vegetables.
Anakis creeps over to the old food and looks it over. She picks up some of the herbs, "I wonder if these will come in handy? What do you think, Custard?" and then pockets them. "Why would they leave food like that? If they were safe behind a locked door, then why did they have to suddenly leave?"
Aluzira watches as the halflings lay their fallen comrades to rest, her daggers loosely held in her hands. “I’m so sorry...” she says quietly, before looking over to the doorway and noticing the lack of stalactites in that room; cautiously looks around the other rooms to make sure they are actually stalactites hanging from the ceiling.
As the last piercer falls, Tarek's divine fury fades, and he sheathes his rapier. Looking solemnly at the fallen halflings, his brow furrows as he tries to comfort Remacle and the living halflings. "Forgive us," he manages to say. "It was our fault. We got you into this mess, and... I apologize. How can we help you?"
Anakis, the bag of herbs has a floral scent and Custard seems to like using it for a bed.
Aluzira, you don't see anything that doesn't look like an actual stalactite, but as you peer up at the ceiling in one of the corners of the large room, you hear the faraway sound of laughter again, echoing through the undercity. Only this time, it doesn't sound like children, but rather like something feral, like the eerie yipping and giggling of wild dogs.
Tarek, Remacle turns to you, wiping away his tears, "I know we ought to get going," he says, "but I can see you're a godly man. Do you think we could tarry here for just a few moments, so you could say some kind words of prayer to your deity asking for protection for these brave warriors as they begin their journey into the afterlife?"
Upon hearing the laughter Aluzira shivers and makes her way back to the others. “I heard the laughing again, but it doesn’t sound like children more like and animal.” she says to the others, before asking, “Perhaps a couple of us should keep watch?” While talking she re-sheaths her daggers, fidgeting a bit with the one near where her flute used to be.
Nicolas notices Aluzira fidgeting with her dagger and, having seen similar reactions more than once in his complicated career, recognizes the habits of someone reaching for something important that isn’t where it should be. “Could you tell a direction or how far away the laughter was?” he asks as he resists the urge to pry into her business.
Torrent also gathers up a bag of herbs, which he then suspends around his neck, with the package a little open. The aroma wafting up from the bag seems to calm him a bit. Hearing Aluzira's "Aye, I'll help take th' watch. I don't mind helpin' out a bit. Can't rest well round these parts any way."

“No, not really it’s hard to tell. I was over there when I heard it though perhaps that might help.” Aluzira says in reply to Nicolas, before adding “Actually I might go back and see if I can listen for it again.” She smiles a bit seeing Torrent making the herb necklace. She wasn’t used to seeing him somewhat out of sorts. “Alright! Ah, that makes sense...” she says becoming lost in thought for a moment before shaking her head and moving back to the corner where she heard the laugh. Sitting down cross legged like she had in the bog over a week ago, she listens for the sound of laughter to try and determine its location.
"Yes, that would be suitable," Tarek says to Remacle. "I will gladly initiate your fallen into the rest of the afterlife." He turns back to the party and says, "Go on ahead, I'll catch up," before kneeling onto the ground, opening up his prayer book, and flipping through the pages to find the blessings for the dead.

The very faint sound of laughter seems to be coming from the doorway that leads to the two smaller rooms. Its distance eludes you, however.
Remacle looks up at Tarek and awaits his reply.
