Whisper ties Ox and Dane to the mast as thunder bellows in the night sky, accompanied by a flash of lightning. The whip bites into your bare backs and the rain begins to fall while the crew watches the spectacle silently. When Luc-Pierre finally gives the order to cease whipping, the two of you are bloodied and in excruciating pain.
3 slashing damage for both Ox and Dane.
"I hope the two of you have-" The captain begins as Ox and Dane are released, but his words are cut off by a wild yell from the lookout's nest.
"Whale on the port side captain, and she's a monster!"
Ox is having an internal conflict. He obeys leaders most of the time as long as they are worthy of leading, but Ox has no indication that Captain Luc-Pierre is a good leader, and does have some evidence that he is a bad leader. He also is in the mindset that he has done absolutely nothing wrong and is being punished unjustly, which his gut is telling him to go against.
Additionally, he doesn't know how much the whipping will hurt, and doesn't want to die. He doesn't know the power of the captain, and doesn't want to be executed as an example. He also doesn't want to start a mutiny, because he's unsure how many people (if any) would help him in the process. He certainly can't stand against all of the crew if they are all loyal to the captain, and he sees that the other hired adventurers will likely not take his side if he were to attack the captain.
So, long story short, Ox has literally no idea what to do. He is in a stupor of thought, so wrapped up in this mind that he doesn't do anything. He just stops where he was, standing with his hands to his sides, glaring at the captain, not doing anything at all.

Skulklistens with mild interest to a few sailors who are chatting and laughing about some sort of religious spat that has broken out between other members of the crew. Just when he pulls a deck of cards from his pocket and hopes to start up a game, Skulk hears a cry from the crow's nest about the appearance of a monster whale port side. He runs excitedly to that side of the ship, hoping to see the cause of the commotion.
I quickly run to retrieve my supplies, readying my light crossbow, and using my crimson rite to cause the crossbow to be wreathed with radiant energy. I am now fairly injured, having to use my life-force to fuel these abilities.
I fit a crossbow bolt into the holding chamber, and go towards the side of the boat where the whale was spotted. How far away is the whale?

The only thing of note before the whale appears; when Dane takes off his top for the whipping, all of the newly exposed skin is riddled with burn scars. He puts his vestments and armor back on. The blood will come out. It always has.
After the cry of the presence of a whale, Dane prepares to follow whatever instructions the captain provides.

Anyone who wants can roll a Perception check to spot the whale, with disadvantage because of the storm.
Captain Luc-Pierre begins to shout orders to the crew to lower the rowboats into the sea. There are three boats in total, and each seats six men. "Ox, Skulk, Nylia, Dane, Whisper, with me!" The captain yells over the storm while another flash of lightning tears across the sky. He swings himself down the side of the vessel and drops into the rocking rowboat.
Ox, the captain is using you to set an example to the others. If he lets one fight go unpunished, brawls would soon become commonplace.
"A captain taking to the rowboat, eh?" remarks Skulk aloud. The Caliban steps into the boat and stares through the wind and rain, hoping for a glimpse of the sea creature. (Perception: 7)
Dane points it out. He'd never seen a beast so massive. He's definitely in fear of the monstrosity, but Ox's call stirs him back to attention. "It's right there! She's tremendous!"

Nylia picks up her oar and looks out toward the water, suprised at the size of the beast. Following the captain's orders, she starts rowing out toward the whale.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I will roll for perception again, with advantage from Dane, and disadvantage from the storm. Is that right? If I'm not supposed to roll, ignore this. 3

Dane points out the whale, and you begin to row towards the behemoth, followed by the the two rowboats. Once you are within 50 feet of the whale, Luc-Pierre gives the order to lay down your oars and grabs a harpoon.
"First one to spear the beast gets double rations for a week!" He yells, hurling his weapon at the monster.
Attack: 21 Damage: 9
Initiative: 18
Whaling: The harpoon functions as a javelin. Attack rolls have disadvantage due to the heavy rain and distance. Please roll initiative and post your initial attacks.
NOTE: After you take your actions each turn, roll a DC 10 Acrobatics or Athletics check to keep your balance on the rocking boat. If you fail, you fall into the sea, and cannot climb back onto the boat until your next turn.

Dane is the first to lay eyes on the behemoth.
The whale weighs in at no less than 250 tons, its body a pale grey. Luc-Pierre let's out a yell and picks up an oar.
"Put your backs into it, you haven't lived until you've harpooned a whale in the eye of a storm!"
!Where is it?" I shout, asking for Dane to help point it out to me. I then pick up an oar and start rowing.
