Observing Little's reticence to speak, Dane says "Bonne. Okay. I'll be off then." Dane leaves to go carry out Whisper's orders.
Little watches you leave, a half-smile playing on his lips. "I hope we will have no need of your services." He mutters, just loud enough for you to hear.
After the last of the supplies have been rolled belowdecks, the whaling vessel finally departs Passwater. Captain Luc-Pierre heaves a sigh of relief as the docks are swallowed by the fog behind you. "Right," He shouts to the crew. "Time to earn your pay!"
So the days pass, while you find yourselves employed in a variety of ways. You learn how to scrub a deck, wash the dirty dishes, repair leaks, prepare stew, and fish over the side of a moving vessel. Even with all these duties, you find you have a few hours to yourself each day, to spend as you wish.
What do you do during these free hours, and how well do you perform your duties on board the ship?
Doing the best she can during the voyage, Nylia specializes in working below decks (light spell and darkvision), but is also adept at carrying and pulling heavy objects and ropes (high STR score, proficiency in athletics). If anyone is injured (or poisoned or diseased) and she is nearby, she will use lay on hands (paladin, 15 points total) or healing hands (3 hp, once per day) to stabilize them so they can get safely to the cleric and ship doctor. She keeps her chain-mail armor off while on deck, as to not drown if thrown overboard.
Fishing (survival): 8
She spends some free time praying for the safety of the crew, the ship, and herself. She spends the other part of her time talking to the crew and fellow adventurers and trying to gauge the trustworthiness of as many as possible. (Insight: 11)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dane spends time getting to know the people on the ship, probing to see who might be willing to hear the word of the Light. Insight 18
He would also try to get to know Nylia, since she is saving him plenty of work. "Thank you. This really means a lot. Anything that keeps them from seeing that man Little is going to be incredibly helpful."

Skulk has a few interests to which he applies himself during his free time:
Playing cards with other crew members (he's willing to bet a few coins as well)
Improving his accuracy with a blowgun (setting up targets on the main deck and firing blowgun needles at it and, of course, taking bets from anyone who's interested)
When possible, chatting with the cook and spending time in the galley (always hoping for a bit of extra food and drink)
Learning to tie the multitude of sailor knots
Taking naps
Regarding his duties aboard ship, Skulk doesn't go above and beyond what is expected, but he's faithful to do what he is told.
Nylia, by the end of the first weekat sea you can seperate most of the crew into two groups: those tou can trust, and those you cannot. Whisper falls into the first group, while the sailors Ox angered fall into the second.
Ox, you sleep with one eye open, and your enemy, whose name you learn to be Carrigan, does not make any openly hostile actions.
Dane, you soon find several sailors who are interested in hearing more about the Lawgiver, and every night they gather on the deck to discuss your religion.
Skulk, you find the sailors to be much more accepting than the common villager, although there are those who make a point to ignore you. If you want, you can wager any number of gold coins to represent the many bets you have made during the week. Roll a d4. On a result of 1, you lose all of the money you wagered. On a roll of 2, you lose half. On a roll of 3, you double your wager. On a roll of 4, you triple it.
While Nylia is not interested in converting (she has The Morninglord and Saint Markovia), she does listen to Dane's spiel about his own religion with interest. She exchanges her own thoughts on her beliefs as well if and only if asked.
"Tell me about this 'Little'." She listens to Dane's description. "Oh dear. There's no doubt he's necessary for the crew's health, as are you, but I've no doubt anyone would prefer your magic to his saws."
Ox, you sleep with one eye open, and your enemy, whose name you learn to be Carrigan, does not make any openly hostile actions.
(Wait, when did I get an enemy?)
Also, I don't sleep. If we have hammocks or something that we sleep in, I don't use them. Instead, I trance on the deck, if I'm allowed, and during the parts of the nights that I'm not spending 4 hours resting in, I do any menial chores that weren't finished during the day, like scrubbing the deck, or cleaning up supper, or anything that needs doing.
"You see, the Lawgiver provides us that which separates us from the beasts. That which provides order. Law prevents the masses from devolving into theft and killings. I know that some of the people here aren't a fan of whatever law rules over the land, but think about this... When we are out on the sea, which law rules? That of the captain. He's no perfect man, but he makes the ship run smoothly and safely for us. Now, with the law, what must come afterwards? Punishment for those who breach the law. Out here, if you anger the captain enough, you take a short walk into the ocean. On land, you may end up in the stockade or on the gallows. The Lawgiver teaches that fire is the ultimate purifier of those who break the law. It is through fire that we are all made pure..." It continues on.
Also, you all have never seen any of Dane's skin below the neck, besides his hands.

As I here Dane start his sermon, I scoff and head over, saying matter-o'-factly, "Order only creates a system where any tyrant can become leader of a bunch of sycophant followers that all want a taste of power, so they follow whomever's in charge because they are the one with the money and power. The law only functions if everyone buys into the system where they sell their freedom and give their money and work to become a group of people akin to a cult, worshiping power that they don't have, but wish to obtain."
I then walk with swagger more to Dane, once I get face-to-face with him, I tap his armor, and say smugly, "You know, you did get one thing correct. Fire is the great purifier."
I then flick a burst of flame in my hand.
"Fire purifies everything; dirty water, food, forests, souls, even human flesh."

Carrigan is the man from the night before who attempted to intimidate Milkey.
