You walk for a few blocks and notice that the farther you go from the Basilisk Gate the fewer refugees you see. Still the streets are crowded as the night is a few hours away and people are getting about their business.
The Elfsong tavern is an old two story building with little decorations. It has this name because from time to time, the disembodied voice of a female elf fills the tavern with a melancholy song, giving the establishment its name. The ballad isn’t loud enough to disrupt conversation, but most patrons stop speaking when the elfsong begins, then resume only after it ends. Many customers frequent the tavern in the hopes of hearing it. (Those who speak Elvish can understand the lyrics, which lament an unnamed lover lost at sea. No one is sure how the spirit came to haunt the tavern, just as no one can predict when it will sing again.)
A tall half elf, Alan Alyth, tends bar while two young men (named Falten and Yimiur) take orders, deliver drinks and food to tables, and joke with the clientele. Flanking the entrance are two bouncers: a suit of animated armor (called Klank) and a gruff female half-ogre (named Skoona). Both are here to protect the other staff members, not the patrons, and won’t break up a fight unless a staff member is involved.
Well-armed patrons huddle around tables in the main room and in private booths. Three padded chairs are angled toward a fireplace on the east wall, underneath the creaky wooden staircase that climbs to the second floor. Some drunk is usually passed out on the couch against the north wall. Next to the couch sits a wooden sea chest that contains an assortment of games (Dragonchess boards, well-used decks of Three-Dragon Ante cards, and so on).

TAVERNS IN BALDUR’S GATE
No wise person walks the streets of Baldur’s Gate or enters one of its taverns without a weapon or an armed escort. Anyone who has lived in the city for more than a tenday knows this from experience. Taverns might appear safe at a glance, but they are among the most dangerous places in Baldur’s Gate — full of alcohol, tempting coin, and unscrupulous people. Volothamp Geddarm, a notorious raconteur known for his tavern reviews, encapsulates his Baldur’s Gate experience as “hard on the stomach, especially when someone sticks a knife in there.” Customers are expected to look after themselves when fights break out, and one shouldn’t expect any help or sympathy from the Flaming Fist. Tavern murders are common, and usually end with the poor victim being dragged away and either left in an alley (to be picked clean by urchins, then eaten by rats) or tossed in the harbor.

Entering the tavern Amea gazes around "Well, nice place, but wheres the person were looking for..." Amea gives a puzzled look glancing around before realizing something. She turns to address the group "I suppose if were all working together we should know our names. My name is Amea" She looks up and down the group sizing them up checking whos best to hide behind in a fight

As they entered the tavern, Elvira adjusted her belt, making sure the few simple weapons she had were clearly visible. She looked around, taking in the patrons of the bar. Despite being a bit taller than the average human, Elvira did not carry herself as much of a fighter. She smiled towards Amea as she introduced herself. "Pleasure to meet you. I'm Elvira. Elvira Fairwind."

The simple dressed bard pipes up at the back of the group as they enter “My name is Alucard miss it is an honor to make your acquaintance.” As he bows low he also looks over the room and quickly moves his coin purse to the front of his breaches. An old trick to dissuade potential pick pockets.
Smiling at his new teammates, "Fin, Amea, Elvira, Alucard"Beggar repeats their names trying to commit them to memory. "They call me Beggar." Looking to the front of their group, "What was your name again, Ranger?"
"Quite a diverse group we have here." Elvira smiled at all of them. She motioned towards the bar. "Shall we get a drink? We may be here on business, but a drink in hand can go a long way towards easing perceptions. Would be rather rude too to come and not get something."

Glad to be out from under the eye of his arresting guard, Fins mood is quite cheerful (not that it isn't always). Hearing the suggestion of drinks he pipes in "New friends, the first round is on me"
As Fin approaches the bar he sees Falten for the first time. Recognising him from his late night escapades around the city he gives a nod to the waiter.
His voice drops as he orders "A round for my colleagues here please barkeep."Then in almost a whisper "Could you point me in the direction of Lady Tarina" he places enough money onto the bar to pay for the round, as Alan goes to take the money he slips an extra gold piece in and winks.
((I just picked one of the staff to be known by Fin as he quite often ends up in seedy bars etc after his late night antics. If one of the others is more appropriate let me know. Or if none are, disregard that interaction ))
Falten looks at Fin and his face becomes a bit red with shame.
He stammers a few words of apology. "Sorry about that night. I never drink that much but you know I can't resist a dare. Daril still owes us a few mugs with what we pulled off." he says referring to one of your favorite late night gamesand one of your frequent partner in crime.
"What do you want with Tarina? She is upstairs playing a game." he asks.
Remembering the night in question, although his recollection is hazy also, Fin chuckles as he replies "Ah Daril, I know he's good for it. We'll catch up soon, but my party and I have need to speak with Tarina on matters a little more serious than our drinking. Can we head up or is it a closed room?"Knowing the unspoken customs of the street, Fin didn't want to interrupt the "game".
"Depends what you want from her i guess." Falten says" but you can probably just go and see for yourselves. Just don't all go or you might get crowded in there." He chuckles at that and goes back to work.
He turns to the rest of the party. With Faltens information in mind he says "So this Tarina lady is upstairs. Most likely engaged in something not necessarily legal. I would go but I've never been too good at starting up important conversations with people I don't know. Perhaps someone more.... persuasive should go"
"I'm rather good at holding conversation, and making friends. My brothers always called me a chatter bird." Elvira chimed in. Her dark grey eyes turned towards the stairs. "It would be for the safer if two of us went, though. You know how Baldur's Gate is. Times like these won't make it any better. Everyone else can stay down here. Maybe find out a rumor or two from people."

Alucard nods to the others as he makes his way to a server inquiring about the owner of the establishment in hopes of working out a deal of a room and food in exchange for entertainment.

Perking you at the mention of the dead three and coin the simple bard nods vigorously “Dear sir you can count me in on a bit of that coin!”
Fin
"The names Fin. Not really a Flaming Fist, more a Filching Fist, if ya know what I mean." he replies, grinning ear to ear as he makes the pun.
