Brocc frowns at the barbarian speaker. "So you blame all hillfolk for a single clan's action, if it was even that clan and not someone pretending to be them..." He shakes his head in utter contempt. "If one of the other clans did something bad, would you be ok then with everyone attacking all of your clans, killing your women and children, and making every clan pay, for that single clan's bad choice?" He puts his lance away. Looking to the hillfolk... "Do you know of this clan he speaks of? Where can we find them, so we can learn if they did truly steal this crown or if the griffon riders here were simply outwitted by someone pretending to be those hillfolk?" He gives the barbarian speaker a glance that clearly says he thinks it is the last, as he doubts it would take more than goblins wearing cloaks to make these barbarians believe they are hillfolk.
Herman put his hands in his face. He keeps following the evolution of the griffons, leaving the others parley.
ANyway, he'd think it is hillfolk's turn to speak now
ooc: has any of us ever know of this Feldspar Blood clan?
Herman knows that most of the Moonstone Hill Folk Clans are named after stones most prevalent around their ancestral hills, he never really bothered to learn more. The Hill Folk are mostly ignored by the more organised and martial barbarian tribes.

An old hillman throws his bow down and comes forward to stand level with Brocc, " Appreciate your spark lad but that was us....I went with that trade group. But we didn't steal nothing. Never even saw such a thing....but then we were mostly meeting with subchiefs and the like."
" We would never......well, maybe not never but it was a good deal. Silver and gold for tin and iron."
" Feldspar hold six hillforts and another dozen encampments about here....well, they did...not sure how many are left now.", he looked saddened but accepting as if used to loss.
The bristling barbarian glowered and looked to the group gathered in the centre, but the more decorated man there brushed the back of his hand and he grunted and continued speaking.
" You came, you met and when you left the crown was gone. Who else could have taken it? Hill Folk are always stealing....", he pointed at the gathered companions. " ...they steal from your people all the time, no?"
" No one else was nearby....our griffons have sharp eyes."
Brocc looks to the hillman speaker. "Who was all with you on that trip?" he asks the man. "Can you be certain one of them would not have done this thing?" He softens a bit towards the barbarian, as it seems they were right to be at least thinking the hillmen might have done this thing. He turns to the barbarian as he waits for the hillman to respond. "And you, I might start thinking of who, among your own people, would like this new king not to take the throne. If your griffons have such good eyesight, then it is likely that it was not an outsider, but an insider who stole the thing. Seems to me that doing so while hillmen were there, would give a great way to do so without the blame falling on someone inside your own people."
Meanwhile Zeltheris's muttering continues, possibly not quite quietly enough, "Oh, this is good! Betrayal from within, by the hill folk or the riders, oh it doesn't matter, either way it'll make an epic tale! Now if only the king had an evil brother who wanted the throne and was provoking a war so he could conquer the other tribes. Ooh, or maybe another group wants the riders and hill folk both weakened and divided so they can conquer them both at once! Oh this could be an excellent tale indeed!"

The old hillman frowned, " Jellin..Herki....I think, yes, Joliin, Doylu....some other headfolk..most of them are dead now." He pointed to two bodies on the battlements and then waved his hand towards the surrounding hills.
" One of them might...but if they did then they just hid it away, nobody has had extra monies that I've seen."
As the question was asked the barbarian ground his teeth, " If there is one that has done this then they are without honour....I do not think you are right....but we have not found the crown yet. Despite our best....efforts."
The hill man suddenly drew himself up and coughed, drawing a crude knife from his belt he cut himself across the palm then resheathed the knife.
He walked towards the barbarian with a resigned expression holding his hand up.
" Can the pact be reinstated now? Between us? Things are clouded on both sides."
The barbarian looked at the old man and reached for his belt dagger...but hesitated as if unsure....

Both the hillman and the barbarian looked at Zeltheris with barely concealed loathing.
"Someone has to get this madness to end." Brocc says to the hillman chief. "Accept his peace and let us work together to figure this all out together."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Using Thaumaturgy to make his voice more booming and carry further he'd try to call out to his compatriot Banzo "HELP! hOW DO YOU STEER THESE THING?!"
Hopefully the turtle man would have better luck figuring out how to control these griffons than he did. Meanwhile he'd just try and pet the damnable thing and hope at some point it decides to like him...
Banzo removes the makeshift blindfold and tries to steer the griffon in the direction to go back. If he can he will let the griffon fly back on it's own.
If it starts to fly off north again he will try to secure himself to the griffon and ride it out.
The griffon refuses to turn back but it does begin to slowly descend heading towards a rocky crag below.

His griffon begins to follow Banzos as it descends, some minutes later the two beasts alight on the rocky crag; calling softly to each other they turn to regard the humanoids on each others back.
Hanging onto the back of a griffon, a tortle can be seen waaaaayyyyyy up in the air. Instead of panic, a sense of grand adventure settles into the bones.
The griffons do not attack but seem to be rapidly running out of patience now that they are on the ground...
"So friend Banzo...think there's any chance we can get these griffons take fly us back to our companions?" Hatch asks, wondering if he should get off now while they're on solid ground (or as close to it as a rocky crag can be considered) when he alights on an idea! "Quick Banzo, check your steed for saddle bags or the flying beastie equivalent! I think riders usually keep some spare feed or treats to give their mounts during long rides, and anything to help these two feel more agreeable towards us would be a mighty fine boon right now!"
Hatch would then look for any such bags containing any such griffon food to feed to this feathered ride.
"I think we have to rescue our griffon-riding friends first, before we do anything else." Brocc says as he looks to the barbarian leader. "Any chance you can help get our companions back for us, the ones that went off on those two griffons."

Banzo follows Hatch's example and looks for a treat/feed bag.
"We should dismount before they take flight again, I don't want a second ride above the clouds!"
(If no treat/feed bag is found, or the griffon starts to take flight, Banzo will dismount first.)
The two men do find a leather sack containing a number of dead rabbits attached to the riding straps of each griffon, the beasts eyes focus on the bags....its hard to judge expressions when beaks are involved but the two wager the griffons are looking less antagonistic at this point....

The griffon ignored Hatch utterly seemingly enraptured by what was happening with the griffon and the turtleman before it.
The griffon calmed somewhat but was seemingly unwilling to do anything but hover in place while its eyes were covered...

The barbarian looks back at his fellows again then nods and clasps hands with the old chieftain.
" We are at peace again......at least until we have discovered more."
The two men look around the scene of destruction as the unconcious barbarian and griffon begin to stir.
Zeltheris turns to the rest of the group, "So, do we continue our original mission? Or are we going off on this new adventurous investigation first?"
