"I think we have to rescue our griffon-riding friends first, before we do anything else." Brocc says as he looks to the barbarian leader. "Any chance you can help get our companions back for us, the ones that went off on those two griffons."
" Most of our mounts have flown home, but....", he waved his hand towards the griffon and rider that were staggering to their collective feet over near Shalana and Herman.
" Give them a few minutes to recover and they can go looking for them."
The hillfolk began to venture out and collect their dead.....
"Well, that answers that. Be a good griffon an I'll keep you in rabbits, yah!" Hatch with feed the griffon a rabbit, and then urge it to fly back to where the hill folk and his companions are.

Banzo sees Hatch feeding the griffon and decides to do the same with his. Banzo feeds a rabbit or two to his griffon, taking care not to put his hands too close to the beak.
"There you go. You were just hungry." Banzo talks gently to the griffon.
The two griffons still glowered at the companions but looked at each other and seemed to come to some sort of decision before abruptly leaping into the air once more and then spiralling about and heading back south again.....

As the wounded barbarian roused his rather battered looking griffon to head off the companions turned and saw two shapes winging their way towards them from the north.
Zeltheris nods absently, "Yes, I suppose its good that they didn't die heroic deaths in the costly misunderstanding. Would have made a better story though. Anyway, where are we headed now?"
Hatch and Banzo see that the fighting seems to have stopped as the griffons descend, the barbarian riders have all gathered in a small group and the hill folk are gethering and wrapping their dead in hides.
Their companions stand a little way off to the side in discussion.
The two griffons land and rather unceremoniously slump to one side urging their passengers to disembark.....another, quite wounded, griffon walks gingerly over towards them sniffing the air.
"A truce for now." Brocc says. "Seems the crown went missing when these hillfolk were at the barbarian's home for a visit, so the barbarians blamed the hillfolk. Seems to me that someone inside the barbarian's own ranks would have found that a very opportune time to do the stealing, with someone else to blame for it." He shrugs. "Not sure what the next step is to be though."

"If one of the barbarian's did steal the crown they would of done so for a reason. Can they use it to become king themselves. Usually a coup involves an army or force of some kind."
Banzo turns to one of the barbarians and asks, "Have any of the barbarian people been building up forces or have lots of friends in the military?"
" No...they cannot. They must challenge to be king, they must throw themselves into battle in the Blood Cleft. The one who emerges alive is king....or queen...if they used such things you speak of they would be torn to pieces by the Chieftains."
Brocc moves over and adds... "Or do you know of anyone at all who would not wish your king crowned?"
" There are many....but to do so by theft....their family lines would carry that shame forever."
( In terms of where next? You still have the Healers, or go crown hunting, or assist the hill folk with rebuilding...or any of the older Hills missions.
“I agree, we need to look into this missing crown.” Brocc agrees. “I don’t think we are going to learn anything here, though it might be wise to speak to any who went to the barbarian village during that visit from these hillmen, and see if any of them noticed anything amiss.”
"Yes, eventually we will want to visit the barbarian home to investigate there, but, first, I think we should speak with the other hillmen who were among those who visited when the crown went missing." Brocc says. He moves over to his spider mount and slips his lance back into its harness at the spider's side. Turning to the hillmen leader. "Can you gather all of those who were with you during that visit?"
"Well, if the crown can't be used to become King or Queen by theft then I'm afraid whoever stole it probably plans to sell it or ransom it for gold and wealth."
Banzo casually moves and shifts and walks about while he's talking, thinking while he's pacing, and talking to everyone.
To his group, "Guys, we should look into this crown thing while we're here and possibly do a few other quests in these hills before moving on."

Banzo looks off the way he just flew back from. "Do you think we should visit the home of the barbarians? To ask questions and get a better idea of what this crown actually is and means, things like it's description and well, I guess we already know it's importance to them. I mean if they're willing to go to such extremes over it."
The barbarian leader walks over from his group.
" The crown? Its about this big..", he holds his hands in a fanned position. " .......made of gold....has a griffons head at the front and the rest is made to look like feathers."

" I'm the only one here thats still breathing, Jellin is the only one I know where he is for sure. Two days walk north-west at the flint quarry."
"since we saved some of your children and avoided more deaths, feel free to decide a way of retribution and then please put two days of rations upon that, be quick"
He states it as a matter of fact, not asking nor imposing
Brocc frowns at the mention of payment for their aid, but just shakes his head and moves off after the turtle-man. He is atop his spider as they head NW away from the hillman village.
Zeltheris moves over to Herman and whispers quietly on his way past, "I think you meant reward, retribution would be what they would take against the riders for the attacks. In any case, its not very heroic to ask like that."
Some of the children and teenagers rush forward skittishly and drop some bundles of rabbit jerky and dried berries at the companions feet before going back to preparing the dead and comforting the younger ones.
The group of barbarians gather up and prepare to mount the three griffons, the leader stops and glances around then walks over to the elder Hillman and drops a pouch into his hand with a grunt before walking back to his men and leaping up onto a griffon.
The Hillfolk watch the companions leave silently, then turn away and continue their preparations and repairs.

“Well, it appears our companions may be making their own way back.” Brocc says as he too spots the shapes coming their way.

"Crown?" buzzes Shalana.
