Hatch walks in with the rest and looks around, though clearly not the investigator that Banzo is. So he goes to the center and uses Divine Sense, in the long hope that perhaps he could detect something that way that might be hidden to his eyes otherwise.
Hatch finds no trace of anything even as he scours the vault.....he is confident that no celestial, fiendish or undead forces were involved in the theft.
Herman knows a nickname in a tribe is very important, he must approach the matter with discretion but he is curious
Once inside, Herman looks at the guide:
"eh, these kids nowadays, how dare they to call you SHAMED one, can't be your tribe name, can it?"
Zeltheris looks at Herman for a moment to see if he's serious before sighing, "It's probably because of the same reason he was chained up and beaten when we arrived. You know, when they said he shamed the tribe with his failure to kill us."
The guide nodded, " As you say. But it is only until the next full moon and then I can reclaim my name if my griffon will accept me and I can win my way through the challenge."
"Eh? What's this challenge about?" Hatch asks, finding himself of little help at the actual investigative efforts.
Brocc moves around the chamber. As he does so he ritually casts detect magic
Once that is up he looks for any magic in the area, or if any strong magic remains from what might have been used in the theft. He will also study the area, to see if his knowledge of the arcane arts gives him any insights...
Arcana: 19 Guidance: 4
The guidance and arcana check are for after he has completed use of detect magic, as both take concentration.
Brocc detects the very faintest scent of illusory magic.....a faded trace almost gone....there is an essence to it that is unusual but he is unsure what it means...
Zeltheris tries to help out whoever he can without getting in the way, this part not being his strong suit. (help for anyone who’d like it.)
Zeltheris assists Brocc as best they can but it is when Brocc is trying to describe the essence of the magic that he found that Zeltheris supplies the term.

" King names a champion, I fight champion for my name. All is good."
Brocc frowns as he moves to their guide. "What do you have around here for fay creatures?" he asks the man. "From what we are finding, there was illusion magic here, and that magic seems to be fay in nature."
Brocc frowns as he moves to their guide. "What do you have around here for fay creatures?" he asks the man. "From what we are finding, there was illusion magic here, and that magic seems to be fay in nature."
The barbarian man made a warding sign, " In the hills? Some.....the occasion fairy, mite, pixie or various sprites. Some nasty buggers like Miks, Black Fairys or Spriggans......some Nikrechauns....."
" Don't know who would have dealings with the fay though......thats strange."
Zeltheris frowns as he contemplates any tales of the fey he might have heard over his time as a story teller.
History: 12
Zeltheris knows that fairys and similar beings are known for their tricks and pranks played upon mortals, though he has heard tales of darker fay he cannot recall too many details...
"We still can't rule out a more 'mortal' culprit, there are those who seek to work with the fay for their own ends...but this evidence does suggest our plan of interrogation may not be as fruitful as we had hoped. Still think we should make some preliminary interrogations, but our prime focus now may need to be researching the local knowledge of fay beings in this area..." Hatch said, a bit perplexed by this new wrinkle.
Zeltheris shakes his head, "I mean its certainly possible a fey did this just to cause mischief or to spite another fey. Could the fey just have been the thief, but not the one behind it?"

" My people would not truck with such beings.......but then I thought my people woud not steal.....and if they have done so then perhaps they would. Those most likey to deal with the fay would be the Wild Elves. They are vicious and strong fighters."
" Halflings are strange short folk....perhaps they would truck with such beings? Chameleonites.......I do not know what such creatures think with their cold reptilia.....uh......yes......anyway....", he trailed off avoiding Banzos gaze with an embarrassed expression.
Zeltheris shakes his head, "I mean its certainly possible a fey did this just to cause mischief or to spite another fey. Could the fey just have been the thief, but not the one behind it?"
"Has your King made any rulings or done anything recently that would negatively affect the Fay or their way of life?"
Banzo will look around at the others in turn, "We should still question the others as they may reveal something that helps."
" I do not believe so.....unless they objected to the peace with the Hill Folk. We have warred with Dwarves, Elves, Goblins and other tribes over the last few years."
“Well we know a bit more than we did previously.” Brocc says thoughtfully. “We know a fay was involved, though not why or for whom. Maybe we should seek out the local fay, and see if they can tell us anything more.”
“I know little about the wilds as well, but we have a guide.” Brocc nods to their barbarian guide. “Can you lead us to any of the farie-folk that live around here?”
"It might not be the fault of your people if any are involved with the Fay. I have heard of some who use magic to influence and control others. One or more of your people may of been corrupted by them."
Banzo begins to pace and on each pass moves a little closer to Zeltheris, "And their pranks can vary from something minor to a cruel death. But we don't even know for sure to what level they are involved."
"You don't have to be embarrassed. I am getting used to the many different reactions from people who have not encountered my kind before." Stopping right before Zeltheris, Banzo will turn a little sideways and lean a little toward him, "You can knock on my shell for luck if you wish, I will not be offended."
(after Zeltheris knocks on my shell... or not...)
"Was anything else kept in the vault besides the crown? Anything else stolen or tampered with... or disturbed in any way?"
" No, only the crown was kept here. There are other treasures but they are carried by the king and his chosen."
“Well we know a bit more than we did previously.” Brocc says thoughtfully. “We know a fay was involved, though not why or for whom. Maybe we should seek out the local fay, and see if they can tell us anything more.”
"Is there a copy of the crown or something with it's likeness on it that we could see? Some way to show us what it looked like besides describing it?"
Banzo looks over to Brocc. "Strike while the iron's hot, huh? Follow the trail before it gets cold. I like it. I'm in. Let's go!"
The man looked around then pulled out a scrap of leather and his knife, carving a rough image with the point into the surface of the leather.
From appearance it seemed to be a roughly shaped heavy crown....if it was made of solid gold it would be weighty indeed as there were few delicate features to it....from the image it seemed to be roughly cast in the shape of a griffons head with the wings forming the sides of it.
“I know little about the wilds as well, but we have a guide.” Brocc nods to their barbarian guide. “Can you lead us to any of the farie-folk that live around here?”
" I can lead you to places I know they've been seen before. I do not know if they will be there though. Black or sometimes called Shadow Fairys I can definetely take you to but they are nasty things....."
" Lets see what we can find."
" Are you all prepared for the wild? Or do you need rest?"
"Well, hearing you've made war with so many people, have made so many enemies. Frankly, it makes questioning seem rather pointless. There's far too many suspects to formulate theories. The only clue we have is fay, so that's the clue we should follow. Take us to them, the areas they may be, the shadow fairies if we can't find any others."
Zeltheris tries to help out whoever he can without getting in the way, this part not being his strong suit. (help for anyone who’d like it.)

Fay.

Herman follows the others, he knows nothing of fay.. But he is surely interested
Zeltheris frowns as he contemplates any tales of the fey he might have heard over his time as a story teller.
History: 11
"What motivations would the fay have to take the crown? Do they have a beef with these griffon people?" Hatch asks, not sure he can see a connection.
Their guide looked intrigued, " How so?"
Zeltheris knows that fairys and similar beings are known for their tricks and pranks played upon mortals, though he has heard tales of darker fay he cannot recall too many details...
" Not that I know of. Though it is made of gold.....a Nikrechaun hoards gold....though I think it has to be freely given....not sure."
Brocc tries to backtrack the fay magic, to see if he can tell where it leads.
"We still can't rule out a more 'mortal' culprit, there are those who seek to work with the fay for their own ends...but this evidence does suggest our plan of interrogation may not be as fruitful as we had hoped. Zeltheris shakes his head, "I mean its certainly possible a fey did this just to cause mischief or to spite another fey. Could the fey just have been the thief, but not the one behind it?"
As far as he is able to determine it goes through the skylight and then disappates....but its hard to determine with traces so faded.
" A prank......well.....a lot of people have died for this prank...."
" My people would not truck with such beings.......but then I thought my people woud not steal.....and if they have done so then perhaps they would. Those most likey to deal with the fay would be the Wild Elves. They are vicious and strong fighters."

Zeltheris won’t knock, but does quickly tap out a little tune before turning back to the others.
Herman looks interested, but clearly at loss
"I love the wilderness, Brocc, but I would not know where to begin, what do you suggest?"
“I know little about the wilds as well, but we have a guide.” Brocc nods to their barbarian guide. “Can you lead us to any of the farie-folk that live around here?”
" No, only the crown was kept here. There are other treasures but they are carried by the king and his chosen."

Ooc no need to rest for Herman
