"yes, let's play! Let's play the " tell tale" game : you know how does it work?! You choose a subject and we tell its story, then it is our turn and you tell the story... But don't lie, it is the rule.. Come on, come on, choose"

And he sits on the grass, with crossed legs
There is a giggle from somewhere over Hatchs shoulder....though there is nothing to be seen there, then a dry crackling voice whispers from the roots of a nearby tree, " Turtle Man, tell story of Turtle Man."
"Hmm, I can not tell Banzo's story, for it is his to tell. Banzo, if you would care to share one of your adventures with our new friends?" Hatch would ask after hearing the giggling over his shoulder.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Anyway, back to my tale. I left my tribe to seek adventure and heard tales of a group of mighty adventurers call the 'Heroes of Chalice.' One day while searching for them I befriended a beautiful half-elf maiden. Together we decided to wait in their hometown for them to return. While waiting in a tavern we overheard the owner was in some distress, as their pet, who had a habit of wandering into their neighbors abodes, had been kidnapped by a Necromancer... ooohhhhh that's bad!"
Banzo looks around to see if there are any more signs of the small creatures nearby.
Perception: 19
"Can one of you get some water nearby," Banzo asks of his companions, "I'm a little thirsty and there's some more to the story yet"
Addressing the surrounding shrubbery, "Please join us, there's plenty for everyone. After I wet my whistle I'll continue my story. You don't want to miss what happens next."

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
(apologies... service has been down the last few days, all is fixed now and should be able to post daily again going forward)
Banzo will sit cross-legged on the ground and begin unwrapping some rations and place them in front of himself. "Everyone sit and take a rest." said to his companions.
"There is an island far to the South where many of my kind live. It is our homeland if we have one. I have only heard stories myself as the tribe I am from are nomadic wanderers. We travel from place to place, having no true home, unless you count the tribe as home. One day I might try and find this island just to see what life their is like for a Tortle." After a brief pause, "I wish we had some nuts or berries to go with this." gesturing toward the ration he preparing before him.
The companions were suddenly liberally pelted with various ground nuts, tree nuts and berries of various shades.

Addressing the surrounding shrubbery, "Please join us, there's plenty for everyone. After I wet my whistle I'll continue my story. You don't want to miss what happens next."
Banzo sees no sign of the watchers but Hatch and Herman spot a dozen or so winged figures about a foot tall sitting on the branches about them and Broccs low profile enabled him to see a number of wingless forms of similar size hiding among the bracken.
"We are here to see if any of you know about the crown the barbarians have lost." Brocc speaks up, tired of beating around the bush as it was. "There was farie magic involved in the stealing of the crown, and we wanted to talk with you lot to see if you knew who might have been involved with that."
Hatch would sigh a bit as Brocc bleated it out. "Not one for subtlety or games then, are you? It'd be better to play along with them and ask them for the story, than demand a straight answer..."
There is a degree of annoyed buzzing among the bracken as Brocc spoke but the udience seemed well pleased by Banzos words and Herman and Hatchs follow up.
Three of the diminuitive figures suddenly flashed with a bright green light and appeared before the group now grown to human size. Two of them were delicate non-binary figures dressed in pearlescent green with silvery hair and dragonfly wings. The one that stood between them wore a garland of flowers about her head, her skin was the colour of pine resin and her hair was emerald green as was her spidersilk dress, she curtseyed slightly to those assembled, her large amber eyes bright over cerulean lips..
" Queen Athasme is pleased by your words and will tell the tale you desire."
" Long ago a crown of gold was made by a wise woman whose folk imagined themselves masters of the sky-lions. Into it was poured a degree of dominance and a splash of pride....and a tiny sprinkle of fairy dust."
" A lot of stupid smelly men wore the heavy hat......and they kept it safe and kept it secure. But then a man did something very, very bad and the fairys heard of it and were asked to act. And as we had been part of the making it belonged to us as much as them.....so the heavy hat was taken and thrown away. Given to cousins tainted by Chaos to do with as they wish until the man had made amends."
" Now tell us more of missing pets.......or other tales...."
Says Herman, and starts to recount the tale similar to little red riding hood, where he is the hunter that eventually killed the bad wolf, whose pelt he is now wearing
"... And grandma also gave me a delicious slice of her cake"
"her majesty, your previous story about the crown was very charming, can you tell us the tale of the man who did something very vary bad and then the faeries intervention? I bet it is very very nice"
Nodding his head (covered by the wolf helmet) two or three times in expectation
After completing his tale and listening to Herman's story, "Do you by chance remember the name of the man who did the very, very bad thing... or what the bad thing was? Perhaps we can right two wrongs, or at the very least try?"
There was a smattering of gasps and applause from the undergrowth and overhead.
Queen Athasme smiled predators smile at both Herman and Banzo.
" The one who did the bad thing was called Father, he struck our friend......so we took what he guarded. If he strikes our friend again I will eat his heart."
"Who is your friend that he struck?" Brocc asks with a frown. "Also, what does he need to do to make amends for this transgression? How can he earn back the crown?"
"Who is your friend that he struck?" Brocc asks with a frown. "Also, what does he need to do to make amends for this transgression? How can he earn back the crown?"
The faerie queen scowled at Brocc but with a slight frustrated trill answered him, " Our friends name is Katla. Amends? I do not know this thing."
" His punishment was to have it taken...I do not care what he does to get it back."
Hatch will get down to one knee and bow before Queen Athasme. "I thank you kindly your majesty, for answering our questions and listening to our tales. It truly is an honor to meet one of such beauty and grace as yourself. If you do not mind, may we speak again? I would treasure your company, however short it may be."
"We have solved the mystery." Brocc says with a glance to the others. "I vote we return to the barbarians and tell them who has their crown, and let them deal with it. We have no reason to get further involved here, unless the barbarians wish to offer us something of value for doing this for them."
"Thank you noble queen of the fay. May we part as friends as our quest is somewhat urgent and we must seek out this Gristwhistle of which you speak. Perchance might you direct us toward his abode?" Banzo is genuine in his praise of the fay and in his mind he now counts them as friends.
Once directions are secured he will turn to his companions, "Shall we be about our business good sirs. The King is awaiting the success of the 'Heroes of Chalice' and I don't aim to disappoint."
" There is a hollow beneath a hill....it is not far."
Your guide nods in understanding, " It is the place I spoke of before."

" However short it may be for us, it may not be so short a time for yourself....but if you are offering yourself then return here on the new moon and we will dance together."

"Fair point, Brocc. We were about other business when we sort of got all tangled up in this mess."
Banzo waits until we have departed from the fay and are well on our way before adding, "Originally we wanted to make sure our hill people friends were not going to get slaughtered by these barbarians. Perhaps we should just pass along what we've learned and let the barbarians deal with this Gristwhistle fellow. I don't think the dark fay are going to be as nice as Queen Athasme and her court."

Herman looks at Brocc with a severe look,
Hopying he didn't brake the interest, he adds:
"yes! Indeed! We want to know the story of the stolen crown, please pleeease"
Hatch would sigh a bit as Brocc bleated it out. "Not one for subtlety or games then, are you? It'd be better to play along with them and ask them for the story, than demand a straight answer..."

Ooc: ok I will retain my post for our next tale, if needed
There was a smattering of gasps and applause from the undergrowth and overhead.
Queen Athasme smiled predators smile at both Herman and Banzo.

Zeltheris simply keeps up a quiet tune to try and entertain the faeries.

Herman is still looking at the queen, because in awe but also because he wants to listen if she says the dark fey location.
With the hand he gestures to the others to keep it low
(Brocc's comments above were after we left the queen and her people behind.)
" There is a hollow beneath a hill....it is not far."

" We have not had a visitor of the Pit before."
The tune seems appreciated and the sprites and imps and brownies wave as the companions depart.
A little way down the road....
