Rufus observes the hole widening under Brocc's efforts and with the others aid. Once it appears sufficient for his diminutive form to slip through, Rufus offers to the group. "I believe I can slip through yon hole now. I can look for a means to raise the block to allow ye to escape this vile place as well. What say ye?"
With Lindales Guidance Banzo smashes into the stone and then Hatch and Brocc set to work widening the hole, Rufus slips through the hole and examines the cavity the block fell from. It looks to him like theres no way to winch the block back into place but widening the hole there is enough space up there for three of them to work with hammer and pitons and after half an hour or so a path through was made and they were able to escape the cave.
Emerging back into the open air was a relief as the fresh air hit their faces....
Once outside Brocc would dust himself off and climb back atop his spide mount. "Shall we head back to meet the boat?" He asks. (How long was the boat going to wait again?)
Rufus basks in the feel of the breeze upon his face. He can venture underground for a bit; but it is always reluctantly as it seperates him from the elements he feels closest to such as the wind and rain.
After a few moments to recover from his descent into the tomb and his joyful return above ground, he moves to follow Brocc atop his trusted steel steed.
"Let's just go."As enjoyable and ... stable, real, as the world around was now, Lindale could not shake that bizarre feeling from the strange encounter and would prefer to get to some relative safety.
"I just want to get back to civilization and fall asleep while I'm still too tired to dream - for surely when I can dream it'll be nightmares I think," Hatch said, feeling somewhat more grumbly than usual after witnessing the horror of that thing.
The companions began making their way along the river bank picking through patches of scrub and rocky outcrops as they made their way upstream.
They still had a few hours before the barge would leave so there was no real rush.
Large fish swam lazily in the river below, catfish and the huge razorfish, at one point they found the remains of a small campfire with rabbit bones and a small bone charm carved in the shape of a wolf.
A little further on they came across a short green-brown skinned individual with a shaved head dressed in buckskins and carrying a bow, the goblin halted as they approached.
Lindale enjoyed the walk to the full: fresh breeze, smell of grass, wet soil, and the river itself - you did not need to be a wolf to sense it it all. She did not actually look where they all were going, trusting the others to choose the path, and sudden "hello" startled her. She looked from behind Banzo's wide back and raised brows in surprise. A goblin? Alone and talking to the strangers? "Hello!" It was just a polite answer to a polite greetings, now she was waiting what that little green man has to say.
The goblin waves goodbye to the group as they continue on and after almost an hour they spot their transport waiting up against the lee of a riverbend.
One of the two deckhands spots them and waves to them silently.
Soon they are back on board, though it does take a little effort to get the spider safely onboard without too much damage to the wooden barge.
The captain waits there with a questioning expression.

After helping to make a hole Hatch will (carefully) take a few handfuls of the glass fragments and store them.

Once his crowbar is wedged nicely between some of the stones, Brocc uses it to pry open a larger opening...

A little further on they came across a short green-brown skinned individual with a shaved head dressed in buckskins and carrying a bow, the goblin halted as they approached.
" Hello!"
Hatch nabs the small wolf shaped charm if no one's around. He likes wolves.
Then when the meet the goblin he lets the more social members provide the introductions.
The goblin regarded Banzo with interest for a few minutes then shrugged, " Stevwin."
" Hur you mob gurn? I'm jes out kitchin dunner."
" Only my mob and orc mob out here. Not seen turtle fella, elf girl, gnome...horns....spider-thing.....your a weird mob aintcha?"
"A bit wierd." Brocc agrees with a shrug. "We are headed to meet up with a boat, you good on your own?"
" Not much option really....near everybody else has disappeared....dunno why."
" Still...fewer mouths ta feed."
" What are yous mob upta out here?"
" Truth? Well, you big folks are good at killing stuff....so could be."
" Barges....yeah...theres one pulled up to the bank upriver. That your ride?"
"Should be." Brocc says in response to the question about the boat upriver. "They siad they would wait for us in that direction."
"Were they supposed to go ashore?" Captain was probably mentioning it before, but the later events made Lindale forget such trivial things.
