Ventheris will sigh, “Your bar’s former owner has mentioned a possible ghost, and now my companions are talking about camping out in your place to look for it.”
Rinzak inhales deeply once more before saying partially to himself "That is fair...you have been assailed by questions and comments." The wizard clears his throat and says "I had requested you prove how well traveled you were by naming the capitol of my people from which I hail."
Upon hearing the potential plan and questioning the Owner, Rinzak adds "And what precisely would be receiving in compensation for doing such a thing? The ghost stories I have read in Limbo usually end horribly for those who investigate a ghost." A tone making it quite clear he believed any stories from his own people were superior to ones created here in the Prime Material.
"The capitol of the Githyanki?" He asks, "Wait, no, your eyebrows are thinner, and you look less angry, more prestigious, though. You're a Githzerai, so you must be from Shra'kt'lor, am I incorrect? Must nicer place than Tu'Narath."

Rinzak's inhaled slowly, at first rather let down by this arrogant creature mixing up his race. However when not only did he correctly say his homeland, but also physical differences between their peoples as well as the Githyanki's capitol city, Rinzak slowly nodded "Ok.....you are one of the few to not be all talk. Truly impressive."
The Githzerai gives a slow nod, turning to the others and the owner "Apologies, carry on. You stated this being is invisible, however is there a particular location it haunts?"
Ventheris will sigh, "Spending the night in a stranger's kitchen doesn't sound too exciting to me, and if I wanted to play with ghosts, I'd have just stayed home. Though admittedly this one sounds less violent than those. If we agree to do this, what do we get out of it? And what should we do if we find it? Do you want it removed, eliminated, documented? Two of our number seem interested, but how do the rest of you feel?"
Zook has been listening quietly to the interchange between everyone. He had mixed feelings about hunting a ghost. The very idea of the undead gave him the willies, but then again, he'd never actually seen a ghost before, or any undead creature for that matter. He'd heard stories, mostly tales of fear that were told to him by his uncles who detailed how monsters from the world of the non-living would not only rip you limb from limb, but would steal your very life and energy right out from under you. That was enough to dispel any notion of wanting to tangle with anything resembling a skeleton, ghost, ghoul, or worse...
...and yet, there was something intriguing about this situation. A haunted tavern with a ghost that told people to get out... Why would a ghost want people gone? What on earth would cause a spirt to hang around a tavern? There was certainly some mystery here, and his gnomish curiosity was peaked by the whole thing. At the very least, he'd love to be able to talk with the spirit and find out what it wanted. Maybe there was nothing to fear... After all, his masters had taught him that fear was not real, it was all in the mind. Through his training, he'd been taught to resist fear, to ignore the hold it often has on men, and to keep his mind clear and free of negative thoughts. So, perhaps this was a chance to see how if any of that training had stuck.
Turning to Ramath, and nodding, Zook answers Ventheris, "I'm in. This spirit does not sound as if it's out to hurt people, otherwise, the innkeeper would have mentioned that fact. Perhaps it just wants something. As my master used to say, you can only hear water in the pot if it's boiling. At the very least, there's a mystery here, so perhaps we should try to communicate with it and see what it has to say."

Volo replies to you, "Well, I didn't ever finish writing my book on undead, I never found anyone truly a master on the subject. I am a master of many things; exploring, knowledge for adventurers, spellcasting, wit, charm, reflexes, not to toot my own glaur, but I don't know a ton on undead. You sound pretty distinguished on the subject? I might have some notes left back in my room, if you could observe the spirit, I might get back to writing it?" He says, as if asking you a question.

Fen is as visibly excited as Ventheris seems underwhelmed by what is being discussed, but he holds his tongue, realising that he may have spoken out of turn earlier.
Hecate watches the proceedings silently. In her travels she has learned that the most harrowing and exciting adventures often have mundane beginnings. Besides, this is her life's work, and she will never pass up on the opportunity to investigate an undead rumor.
Fen says to Venthiris "I like the idea of helping Volo, but I agree with your question" and turns to Volo "Given your great accomplishments and even greater collection of treasures and magical items, can we expect anything in return for helping you with your book?"
[OOC, I’m happy if we press him for something more exciting to look into at the same time if we want to treat this as a side quest to advance Hecate’s studies into the undead].
"Treasures?" He chuckles, "No, I merely observe to make my tomes of knowledge. I don't have any great treasure troves outside of the books that I write. I could offer each of you signed copies of the finished product? Also, 10% of the profits of the book to you as a group? Of course, while you help me investigate undead, you could keep any money found in dungeons and other such items."

Ventheris nods at the offer, "That sounds interesting, but involves a great deal of advance work for a book that may not be published for some time. If you agree to include us in your book as contributors and perhaps a small advance, I would certainly agree."

If Zook agrees, Ramath just gives a firm nod.
