Lander looks up at Keragri and sees the rubber ball bounce off his head. He immediately begins to laugh as he hears the two youngsters taunt the goliath. Lander runs away from the goliath in the opposite direction the ball bounces. "Nice shot you two!" He leers at Keg, placing his thumbs in his ears with his hands fanned out and sticks out his tongue. "Hopefully you throw a ball better than you arm wrestle!"
"This is just a game", not knowing the cultural norms of Goliathkind.
"You throw the ball, not the heaviest boulder you can find. If you hit someone with it, they must do the same thing while everyone else tries not to be hit by the ball."
Fedex hopes he understands, then for a moment, is concerned for the safety of the children.
All: The ball whizzes past Riona and rolls near Fedex. Since Keragri missed, Fedex has the option to scoop up the ball and choose a target.
OOC: Riona, what you posted works fine! Lander, I don't believe there is a way to see the result before you actually post. If someone knows if this is possible, let us know!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Fedex sees an opportunity for a quick hit on Lander. He quickly picks up the ball on a dead run and guesses which way Lander will dodge. And with a mighty heave ...

Lander turns and sees Fedex pick up the ball and heave it at him. In a moments notice he decides which way to dodge.

He almost avoids the ball but gets hit on the hip. He runs over to the ball, picks it up, and turns looking for a target and decides Riona would be a good bet seeing how she tried to take advantage of his short legs before. He winds back and throws the ball as best he can. "Special delivery Riona!"
(OOC- At this point if I know its a hit from Fedex before should I have been playing what happens like that or wait until the DM makes the official determination?)
OOC: Lander, the way you handled it totally works for me! I try my best to not tell you what your character does, thinks, and feels emotionally. It's your character and you have the most fun when you're in control. I will describe how your actions affect the world around you and how the world affects you. In this instance, I set the scene for you guys and told you the rules of the game. You all running with it and narrating your actions based on the parameters I set is exactly how the game is supposed to be played. Nice job everyone!
I'm not bothered by by the fact that you decided what happens to the ball after it missed you. I guess technically, that is supposed to be up to me, but it's not like this is a huge story altering detail. Sometimes it's nice to sit back and let the party run with the story a bit. It helps reinforce that this is a collaborative story. Now, if you'd said a green dragon landed in the yard or something like that, I'd take exception, ha ha.
Fedex laughs as he moves to another advantageous position. He quickly glances to the children to see if they are tolerating our “taking over” their game.
Fedex: The children are laughing and enjoying the adults joining their game. They seem to take particular enjoyment in running around Keragri and between his legs. They each hide behind a massive thigh and peek out to watch Lander throw the ball. "Woo hoo! Take that!" "You can't get me!" their taunts, cheers, and laughter fill the quiet morning.
All: The children do seem to be enjoying themselves. "Rawr! I'm riding a dragon!" shouts the girl as she clings to Keragri's thick neck. She points to the rest of you, "Get them dragon! Rawr!" The boy, on the ground next you the rest of you, says "C'mon! Let's slay the dragon and protect our village! Chaaaaaaaarge!" And runs up to Keragri with stick in hand. He begins swatting Keragri about his ankles "Hiyah! Back foul beast!"
Lander laughs at the little boy's seriousness. He grabs a small stick and gently taps Keragri on his legs also, pretending to fight the dragon. "Though shall not destroy our village you demon. Go back from whence you came! With brave knight Sir Grant by my side, I have no doubt we shall prevail. Come Sir Grant.......Let us press our advantage."

Fedex notes that the game has changed and instead of involving himself in the frolicking, decides to study the surroundings. Specifically, if they’re being noticed by parents or passerbys.
You see a woman standing in the doorway of the home that stands on the small yard. She dries her hands on her apron and crosses her arms as she leans against the door frame. She smiles and chuckles to herself as she watches her children play with the adults they undoubtedly roped into their game. She sees you and offers a small wave. She then calls out "Grant! Not too hard! You kids have five more minutes before it's time to come in and wash up for breakfast!" She then heads back inside. You see that she appears to be checking on the children now and again through the window.
Riona smiles at the display of might being put on by the children and Lander against the dangerous 'Dragon" and takes the moment check in on Mr. Declan. She delicately sits down, folder her legs under her, then blinks her awareness into her familiar, leaving her eyes completely white and vacant. In the sky Mr. Declan blinks as well, his orange brown owl eyes shifting into a moss green. With that she requests that he fly 200 feet down the road, staying about 30 feet up, then return while she watches through his eyes.
Not sure how you want to handle mental checks when Riona is seeing and hearing through her familiar, if you want to keep the uh animals perks (ie keen hearing/dark vision) but use Riona's stats or just use the animal's perks and stats
You feel a lurch in your stomach as your awareness merges with Declan's. The dichotomy of seeing the world pass below you and feeling your body still on the ground takes a second to get used to. You see rural homesteads stretching out over the land around Hill's Edge. Along the road that the party was headed you see a few travelers, some walking, some riding wagons laden with goods to sell in town. Beyond the outskirts of town you see farmland cover the area like a patchwork quilt. A river worms it's way across the fields and beyond lies a dense wooded area. When Declan gets more than 100ft from you, you're suddenly forced back into your own body. The suddenness is jarring and you experience a few seconds of vertigo.
OOC: The part of the spell description that covers this scenario says this: While your familiar is within 100 feet of you, you can communicate with it telepathically. Additionally, as an action, you can see through your familiar's eyes and hear what it hears until the start of your next turn, gaining the benefits of any special senses that the familiar has. During this time, you are deaf and blind with regard to your own senses. I interpret that to mean you use their senses and skills for any checks made while looking/listening through them. One thing to note is the part where it says "as an action..." This doesn't limit you when we're free form role playing like we are now, but if we were in a combat or time sensitive situation, you wouldn't able to use an action to see/listen through Declan and make a Perception Check, since Perception Checks fall under the Search action. That would surpass the 1 Action, 1 Bonus Action (if a spell or ability allows), 1 Move, 1 Interaction (Also called a Free Action) limit each player has on their turn. Here's a handy chart that shows what you can do on your turn:
Lander looks up at Keragri and sees the rubber ball bounce off his head. He immediately begins to laugh as he hears the two youngsters taunt the goliath. Lander runs away from the goliath in the opposite direction the ball bounces. "Nice shot you two!" He leers at Keg, placing his thumbs in his ears with his hands fanned out and sticks out his tongue. Riona jumps then begins to snicker at the surprise game.
"Oh dear!"
She freezes look up at Keragri. Then, without another seconds hesitation, pulls up her dress a little and takes of in the same direction as Lander.
"I don't have to have to outrun him... I JUST HAVE TO OUTRUN YOU!" She yells as she does her best to outpace him with a shit eating grin on her face.
Fedex shouts out to Keg,
"This is just a game", not knowing the cultural norms of Goliathkind.
"You throw the ball, not the heaviest boulder you can find. If you hit someone with it, they must do the same thing while everyone else tries not to be hit by the ball."

I aim for Riona, this game seems fun. Although the Goliaths I used to live with had better games for the young ones.

"Haha not today!" She happily shouts and adds a goading skip to her stride.

"Ha I've still got it!" Riona ducks as the ball wizzes past her. She then turns and shoots a wink at the children playing with her new large friend.
She jogs over and kneels down, gently saying.
"You know I bet if you ask really nice he will give you a piggy back ride."
She then looks up at Keragri with a pleading look hoping he will play along.
I let the young ones piggyback me. They are having the most fun of their lives. They remind me of her...
The children climb onto my sturdy arms as I twirl them around. But this nagging feeling keeps coming to my head, we have a job to be doing, do we not?
