All: The children's mother returns to stand in the doorway and calls out "Time to come inside!" The kids reluctantly file toward the door and the mother says "Say goodbye to your friends, I'm sure they're busy and must be on their way." The children say goodbye and wave before racing inside. The woman gives you all a wave and shuts her door, leaving you all in the cool, but sun filled yard.
She graciously takes his hand and dusts herself off as she stands.
"Why thank you Fedex. I took a look a bit up the road, our journey out of town should go smoothly."
She smiles at him warmly patting the top of his hand in appreciation for the assistance then turns her attention towards Lander and Keragri.
"Alright boys play times over we got ground to cover."
As she passes Keragri she pats him on the shoulder and laughs.
"You're a good sport, I know kids can be a handful."

Good to know! When i read it i couldn't decide if the 100 feet was just for telepathic communicating or if it applied to the second statement as well, thought i was chance it ;)
Lander waves goodbye to the kids. "Goodbye. Best run off to your mother. Oh, and don't forget your ball." Lander bends down, picks up the rubber ball and hands it to the little girl. Once their mother shuts the door, Lander walks back over to Fedex and Riona. "Has Declan spotted anything?"
All: You travel down the road leading north-west out of Hill's Edge for about an hour. The morning chill gives way to mid-morning warmth and the sky is mostly clear except for a few wisps of cirrus. As you begin to crest a hill in the road, you hear before you see, a man cursing and attempting to stay atop a bucking horse. The mans clothes appear to be finely crafted, and you see that the large, powerful mare he’s struggling against bears an expensive looking saddle. The man quickly loses his seat and falls to the ground with a thud. He continues to curse the horse as he picks himself up and spits in disgust as he sees his now ripped sable cloak. The man angrily approaches the horse, but suddenly jumps back as its hind leg viciously lashes out at him. The horse snorts and paws the ground as the man stands outside kicking range, his hands on his hips. He turns his body slightly in your direction as you approach, keeping an eye on the horse, as he says “Hail! Care to purchase a horse possessed by Asmodeus himself?”
Lander smiles at the man. "Hello there. It seems your horse has the manners of my dear departed Great-Uncle Melphor." Lander laughs. "Although, he never tried to kick me in the face." While Lander is talking to the man, he's also nonchalantly looking at the side of the road, bushes, trees, etc, to see if there may be anyone hidden.
As you turn to look at the bushes, the horse rears and whinnies, kicking at the group. Everyone scrambles backward to get out of range and you're knocked onto your rear as the stranger stumbles backward into you. "My apologies," he says as he helps you to your feet "can't turn your back on her for a second."
OOC for Fedex: In the interest of streamlining and allowing everyone a chance to contribute, moving forward I'd like it if we choose one action per post. Think of your post as your turn. I should've clarified this sooner, my apologies. Would you like to go with the Perception or the Animal Handling check?
OOC: I'd like to say that within the last hour of traveling before this point, we had reminded ourselves that Khubic recommended that we stay in the open (no dark side-quests). And I'd like to confirm with the team that our alibi is that we are refugees pushing farther on because Hill's Edge is getting crowded and work opportunities are drying up. Likewise, we all would have reviewed the map shortly when we were outside of town. And finally, what does everyone think about who should be carrying the envelope? My vote would be, Keg.
(OOC: I'm game with whomever wanted to carry the envelope. I know at one point we had discussed Riona because she could give the envelope to her bird if needed in a hairy situation. Keg is also a solid option. I remembered us deciding to say we were refugees but as of now didnt feel the need to put that out there with any of our encounters. BTW, what a pathetic perception role. Haha.)
Standing at a safe distance from the ill tempered horse, you scan the area. Your military training takes over as you note potential bottlenecks, kill zones, and areas of ambush. The area you're in now is very open. The land on either side of the road slopes down several feet, but not so much that you can't see that the ditches are clear. So far nothing is setting off any of your internal alarms.
OOC: No need to apologize! I should've put that in the recruitment post.
All: The man says to you all, "200 gold pieces and she's yours." with one hand on his hip and the other massaging the bridge of his nose, eyes closed. "I paid ten times that amount for her in Neverwinter. She's thoroughbred and I have the certificate of pedigree on hand." He sighs and shakes his head, "Well, in my saddlebag."
Fedex: The marble-like eye of the horse tracks you as you near it. It snorts and flicks it's tail, whinnying again. "Careful! She's named Hell B*tch for a reason!" says the horse's owner, softly. You lock eyes with the Hell B*tch and sense in it a commonality. Stubborn pride. You stand still and wait with your hands up, taking deep, measured breaths to allow the tension to flow out of you... Hell B*tch continues to eye you, but the snorting and tail flicking stops. After a minute or so, she drops her muzzle to the ground and begins picking at the grass. You take a slow, but steady step towards her, making sure she can see what you're doing at all times. She doesn't seem to react to you, still plucking at the grass. Another step. Two steps. You slowly reach out and softly stroke the jet black hair of her mane with the back of your fingers. You sense the tension flowing out of her. You grab her reigns and gently guide her over to her owner. "Ok, what's the secret?" he says, keeping his distance, hands up. "I've seen her cripple two of my best hands and she went all cow-eyed for you the second you laid a hand on her."
"She's majestic. She is a queen amongst horses. She is to be partnered with, not lorded over."
Fedex leads her to her owner with the reigns and stops a few feet in front of him. He turns and with his free hand softly strokes the nose. He leans in and whispers into her ear.
Turning slowly again, he hands the reigns to the man and says,
All: The children's mother returns to stand in the doorway and calls out "Time to come inside!" The kids reluctantly file toward the door and the mother says "Say goodbye to your friends, I'm sure they're busy and must be on their way." The children say goodbye and wave before racing inside. The woman gives you all a wave and shuts her door, leaving you all in the cool, but sun filled yard.
Fedex smilingly waves at the children and mother. He then walks to Riona and offers a hand to help her to stand up.

If the coast is clear, he will slowly and non-threateningly approach the horse, speaking smoothly,
”That’s a good girl .. that’s it ... that’s it ...”

"Sir, if we had 200 gp amongst all of us, we would already be mounted."
Now Fedex will try and calm the mare to return it to its owner.
