The guard attending Lung leans in and whispers something in his ear. It’s clear from the look on the mayors face that he’s deeply embarrassed. “Ahem, well, Jorvik here reminds me that I might be a little too used to the comforts of my house. Please, do as you wish - rest, eat, take a load off. I only ask that you come and see me before you depart for the ruins again, assuming that is your intent.” And with that he gives a nod to Jorvik and retreats inside.
Ithelion stares at Krom a time before answering. Eventually her features soften a little, "Then, by all means, get the ball rolling. The hardiness of Dwarves is legendary, but for me it's been a long and troubling day."
She sighs, glances around, and lower her voice, "Look, I'm in no fit state to be diplomatic -- you know what happened last time. I'll be there in an hour, if it lasts that long."
With that she heads to the inn, and goes directly to the bar.
(( I can't recall if they still have rooms; if necessary and possible, she asks for a room again; after doing so...assuming one is available: ))
"Would it be possible to have a meal delivered to my room, and perhaps a pail of hot water?"
Garnet is surprised at the appearance of the mayor as well and nods along with Daeymar's comment. She agrees with Krom and would prefer to get this addressed quickly. She doesn't mind listening to what the man has to say. He invited them in knowing their current state, so she didn't mind the grime if he didn't. However watching Ithelion leave she reconsidered the idea. Speaking aloud to Krom and Daeymar after the mayor left "We should probably wait to visit with the Mayor untill we are all together." Shuffling her grip on the ant shell "I would like to take the chitin to the blacksmith, if they are still open. See what we can get for it. "
Garnet will head over to the blacksmith after this conversation concludes ethier alone or if someone joins her.
Farmhand (or is it Bait? Haha), Krom, and Garnet head to the blacksmith ship, which is near the old road leading to the ruins. Even at this hour, you all hear the rhythmic pounding of hammer on anvil. Opening the door the hammering stops and a sturdy dwarf comes to meet you. His hair and beard are long and fiery red, both are tied back. He looks you up and down, giving a bit of a nod at Krom, and says, “Well met. Rorik’s the name. What can I do fer ye?”
@ithelion - true to Felosial’s word, the innkeeper does provides you rooms and agrees to have some food sent up to you. The hospitality doesn’t include elven wine unfortunately, you’ll have to pay for for :) The innkeeper arranges for a bucket of hot water as well.
Ithelion gratefully retires to her room. Before her meal arrives she meditates to calm her mind. The memories of years past that had been brought back by the days events -- things she had thought well and truly forgotten -- plague her. As she had been taught, she examines each memory, turning it around in her mind, owning it and taking what she needs from it, then once again discarding it. Unnecessary flotsam from a time long gone, and a person who no longer exists.
When she hears the knock at the door she lets out a final breath, walks to the door an opens it, a smile on her face. "Thank you, please give Durnan my heartfelt thanks as well" she says.
With that she takes the meal and closes the door, then places it on the bed and opens her backpack. Inside she finds the magical bag, and inside that her bottle of brandy. She smiles, pulls it part of the way out of the bag, then replaces it with a sigh. "Later. Best keep a clear head" she says.
Before she eats the meal she spends a few minutes cleaning herself and her clothes with the water from the bucket, her magic an indispensable aid. Once she is satisfied she settles in to eat, again feeling the loss of Elosa when finds herself setting aside morsels for her. She smiles nevertheless, and places them to one side. "For later" she says.
Once she is fed and satisfied that the grime of her distant and recent past is again washed away, she returns to the tap room . She smiles and waves to Durnan as she passes, then goes in search of her compainions. On the way she checks if the store or temple are open in the hopes that she might obtain some charcoal and incense.
"This is Krom, Daeymar and I'm Garnet." She points to her companions then herself . "We are interested in what you make of this." Garnet holds up the piece of Chitin and knocks on it with crystal knuckles. "It's seems pretty hard." She really has no idea if it can be forge worked or not. If the blacksmith seems interested she will hand the piece over to him for Rorik to inspect.
@ithelion - Corkie isn’t there but the shrine is open, and you go in. You find an acolyte who manages the supplies and you can buy what you need for your spell for 10 gp. They have lots. You catch up with the others in the blacksmiths....
@rest - the rhythmic pounding stops as you enter. A sturdy, muscle-y dwarf looks you up in down. “Well met. My names Rorik and this ere’s me forge. What can I do fer ye?” He has bright yellow hair and a long beard, both tied back in braids to keep from getting singed. He wears a well-worn leather apron and nothing else. The heat in here is oppressive. He takes the chitin and inspects it. “Aye, I’ve seen this afore. Makes good flexible pieces. Depends what ye want with it? Whatcha have in mind, lass?”
"Well, to be honest I have no idea what it can be crafted into. Or if it is better to attempt to sell it whole."
Garnet considers a moment before continuing her answer. "Maybe an armor piece? Or pieces? Something that will be useful against other creatures." She feels a bit unimaginative, she isn't really much of a crafter. "Do you have any suggestions? You mentioned you have seen this before. What is it best used for?"
Krom wanders around Rorik's forge casually inspecting the work.
The work that is on display (that you can see) includes a couple of axes, a warhammer, a pair of war picks, and the regular mundane items one needs a blacksmith for - knives, shovels, horseshoes, and the like.

She feels a bit unimaginative, she isn't really much of a crafter. "Do you have any suggestions? You mentioned you have seen this before. What is it best used for?"
Rorik puts his hand to his chin in thought. "Hmm, well I can give ye 20 gold fer the piece. Whoever done it weren't really knowin' how to do it." At your words, he nods. "Aye, if I work it well enough it might be used as such. It works well fer light armor, something to make you quicker but ye sacrifice the sturdiness of heavier armors. A shield or two, aye," he rubs his chin. "Ah, but it's all about what ye want an' who's gonna where it. There ain't 'nuff fer a full plate, mind ye, but somethin' lighter - as I said."
Garnet considers her companions for a moment, flexible armour would not be beneficial for Ithelion robes suited her better. Krom and herself were more suited to heavier armour. Daeymar however could use the lighter gear without hinderence.
Addressing the blacksmith Garnet points at Daeymar. "Our rogue could benefit the most from some new gear. As for what we want made specifically....We will leave that decision up to you and your experience with the material."
“Aye aye. Well, I’d be happy to make some armor - mayhaps fer your friend there,” nods to Daemyar, “sooner or later a birds gonna come along and catch the worm, if ye get me meaning. Ho hoho haw ha ha.” “Well, it’ll be protectin’ ye but the best part is that he’ll be lighter on yer feet. I can see it takin me maybe a day or so, cheaper if ye pay a course. Run ye bout 50 gold, considerin’ ye save me the trouble of gettin’ the material. What ye say?”
[the chitin armor would be considered light armor ac 12 +1 to all Dex rolls].
Rorik takes the gem and rolls it around and knocks it on the table. Holds it up to the light and licks it. “Hmm, aye, aye. This’ll pay fer it sure. An extra 25 gold an ye'll have it by mornin’. A course I be willin’ to trade, if what ye got is more like this!”
The guard attending Lung leans in and whispers something in his ear.
