"Unless someone wants to wear it. I suggest you put the chainmail in that box Chiquita, its worth some coin."If she agrees he helps take the chain then heads to the door with the gnome in it "Daemyar You opened this one already, no?"
Garnet wipes the blood from her sword a habit she is used to preforming after combat. She will follow Shere to the room where the prisoners are located to see if he and Daeymar need any help freeing those still locked up. She would like to observe the condition the prisoners are in and if any need aid she will try to lend it.
"Unless someone wants to wear it. I suggest you put the chainmail in that box Chiquita, its worth some coin."If she agrees he helps take the chain then heads to the door with the gnome in it "Daemyar You opened this one already, no?"
Ithelion nods, grateful for the help, and with Shere's assistance, she gathers the rest of the gear, placing the sharp items in the chest and the others loose or in sacks into the Bag of Holding, then moves to the room. (( as described above )).
You walk into the prison room and you notice the two remaining kobolds chained up. They look rough but happy when they see Meepo, who works on unchaining them. There are several decapitated kobolds on the floor, owners of the heads strewn in the previous room. The small cage holds a dark gnome who says, “Ah phew! I was getting worried you were some hallucination. Names Erky, Erky Timbers. Would you mind?” gesturing to the cage that surrounds him.
Meepo enters the room and seems really distraught. He begins to gather up the bodies and the heads, and laying them out more respectfully in this room. He spends some time trying to match the bodies to the heads. Judging by the deepening furrow on his brow, you think he isn't being quite as successful as he'd like! He goes over the bodies but you don't notice anything of note. He simply says a few whispered yips and throws deadly glances in the direction of Sharpie, who has also entered the room. She stands near the entrance nervously. "This where prisoners are kept, sold back to the kobold *****, uh, queen. Ever since the hobgoblins, they don't last long here but use for.....other things."
@shere - you look around the room and sense it has been used as a prison: manacles, crude instruments for torture - surprisingly similar to the one you saw in the kobold enclave. And of course the hastily decapitated kobold bodies.
@ithelion - as Shere tries to attune to the room, you investigate the bodies more closely. Yup, decapitated - probably with a long sword and in one swoop. You guess it was Noxxus, the slain hobgoblin out in the hall, doing. Elosa sees a lot, as you might imagine - weird snake-like things, moss on the wall, small bones, a bunch of big creatures - was that a mouse that just moved?! She swoops to the potential food near the bottom of the wall, and just misses out on a juicy little mouse, which scampers into a tiny hole in the rock. She squawks and comes back to where you are. [remember she has really low intelligence, unless you want to go into her senses?]
@krom - during this time you're keeping watch - nothing presents itself, which makes sense. You've all created enough sound to either draw or repel possible things from this area...for now, nothing presents itself.
@daemyar & @shere - "Ahem, I assure you that is my real name, sir. Of course I will answer your questions and info to share but please, let me out of this thing! I may be small but this is cozier than a halfling in a whore house."Ithelion, using your investigation from earlier, you can see that Erky is dressed in relatively fine clothes - being of the more refined life, you can tell this even through the dirt, grime, blood, and other disgusting details that cling to his person.
You don't find a key for his cage but judging by looking at it, you think that perhaps you could bend the bars or Daemyar might be able to pick the lock...
(( No problem re Elosa -- happy for her to find mice...my main interest is in making sure that there is no odd draft or tracks leading nowehere (secret door), and noone hiding in the shadows -- I assume her perception is good for that. And IIRC, going into her senses uses Ithelion's perception not Elosa's heightened senses, so there's not gain there other than range ))
Ithelion looks at Erky and nods, then at Daemyar and Garnet, "Hopefully someone can free you" she says, glancing at her companions, then turns to Meepo and Sharpie, ushering one or both out of the room. In low tones she addresses whoever she is with (( Meepo might be busy with his body parts, but Sharpie was standing nervously in the doorway )).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Garnet will move into the room when she hears Ithelions question grimicing at the kobold dead. She trys to focus on the gnome to see if she can remember anything about him or regonize anything from his clothing.
@ithelion - Sharpie shrugs, "He was caught by the harvesters in one of the tunnels of the deep. I know Durnn keeps him in case anyone gets hurt, he can fix them." Erky perks up and adds, "Yes, the gobliness is correct. Which, I will be more than happy to explain once I am out of this thing."
@daemyar - as far as you know, he's telling the truth. You can easily pick the lock, if/when you wish to.
@garnet - with your personal history and because of your race, you recognize this creature immediately as a deep gnome, a svirfneblin. It's hard to tell with all the grime and dirt, but his clothing is finer than you'd see on a fighter - a scholar, or an acolyte - perhaps even a spellcaster of some sort.
“Feel free to explain ‘Eksy.’ You may not be some spy, but it is certainly suspicious that you are down here all alone.”
Erky crawls out of the cage and stands up. You all hear numerous cracks as his stiff joints and vertebrae expand a little. "Ahhh, that's the stuff!" He looks around at you. "Alright. Yes, I was wandering around down in the Underdark but there is a good explanation for that. I don't know how long I've been gone for but I actually came from a town called Oakhurst. Maybe you know it? Anyways, I had been taking refuge with a dwarven blacksmith there, finding him antiques and old metals and the like. I am pretty good at it. I have studied the area and there is a ton of evidence to suggest -" Erky stops and looks at you all. "Anyways, I wasn't even close to this place when I found a cave. I followed it of course. My kind are at home in the dark and, to be quite honest, it reminds me of home. I got lost - quite embarrassing actually, but unless you've been down there you can't really understand. I was actually kind of grateful the goblins found me, otherwise I might be food for some mind flayer or drow. Turns out, I might have had better luck with the drow. Luckily, I have some - useful talents - that allowed me to remain alive." He looks to Sharpie and Meepo. "Strange allies. Hmm, I can only assume you're here for the dragon and to put an end to the hobgoblin era here. Is that about right?" He repeats this last part in common and goblin.
"Well, it looks like the revolution is in full-swing - quite exciting actually! - What do you want to know and how can I help?"
Ithelion listens to the gnome, her interest piqued by the suggestion of some historical knowledge. She looks at Daemyar's when he speaks, not really finding anything suspicious in the gnome's tale so far, then turns back to diminutive prisoner. "Evidence to suggest what?" she asks.
Part of her knows that she should focus on the current situation, but a recently-starved part of her clings to the hope for insight and meaning.
Erky looks a bit ashamed. "I, um, yes, well...I suppose it doesn't matter if you know or not. It is said there might be artifacts - weapons - magical ones, hidden deep within the earth in this area. The books I've read tell tales of a place called Khundrukar and a great dwarven blacksmith, Durgeddin the Black. Deep in the bowels of the dwarven stronghold did Durgeddin forge magical weapons of a quality not seen again in Faerun! Rorik, of course, sent me off to find anything I could. Ahem, of course, I am not an idiot. The loaf didn't want to do it himself and I - well, I am not a good apprentice. And people were beginning to wonder about that "little fellow with the hood chumming with the blacksmith." I'm pretty resourceful and I am at home underground. Plus, I'm a sucker for knowledge! So, here I am. Anything else you'd like to know?" He looks at you pleadingly, "Say, you wouldn't happen to have food and water to spare, would you? Boiled kobold isn't my favourite - in fact, any type of kobold or goblin cooked makes me nauseous."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Krom's ears perk up a bit hearing Erky talk about the dwarven stronghold and the blacksmith. Reaching into a side pouch, he tosses a ration pack towards Erky.
History: 12 to see if those names ring any bells for Krom.
