No you were making normal time. You made it to the New Road, which cuts down on travel by not being difficult terrain. Moving even at normal speed you should be able to get there....as long as nothing happens on the road ;)
You spent perhaps an hour in the Mongrelmen camp, and a bit more getting prepared for the journey on wagon.
The road ahead looks like it winds through the forest, keeping the mountains on the left with more dense forest on your right.
When you are ready, let me know your travel actions (if anyone is actively keeping watch, etc and the proper rolls). Lorell, if you attempt to get the wolf to hop up on the wagon, it balks and runs away.
The cart ambles ahead slowly, the lone horse getting used to pulling the entire load. Luckily, the ale kegs are missing so it doesn’t slow down too much. As you leave the open plain behind you, you are hemmed in on your right by dense forests and to your left rising mountains and smaller groups of trees.
You carry on for a couple of hours, covering about 6 miles or so. The horse is slowing and it probably needs water. Do you wish to push on? Or stop to give it water?
( Probably up to people who know about horses, but in the absence of advice to the contrary, if it needs water it should get water. Are we passing any streams as we go? )
Ithelion asks Elosa to keep a lookout for rivers or streams, thinking that probably the road will cross one, or run parallel to one at some point.
If the horse starts looking distressed she will suggest they stop, and tip some of her water into a bowl, remembering that she was always taught to give water to dehydrated people in small quantities.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ithelion will also go, wishing she had had a chance for a short rest.
She glances at the others to see if they are coming, and sends Elosa ahead to scoutShe glances at the others to see if they are coming, and sends Elosa ahead to scout as she walks warily into the forest
Garnet will also hang out by the cart to keep an eye on the road with Krom. if possible maybe make a few improvised repairs to the wagon so it does not give out before Oakhurst. She has 50 feet of rope in her pack that she can use if needed.
Perception: 15( for the road look out) Wisdom: 10 (for the repairs?)
Ithelion/Daemyar - Elosa spots a small creek surrounded by a copse of trees not to far off. You lead the horse there, and when you near the creek, inexplicably, one of the small trees turns at your sound and hisses at you, it is about 30 feet from you. Ithelion, Elosa squawks at you to warn you. Whoever is leading the horse make an animal handling check. Roll initiatives.
tree thing - 4
Garnet, Krom, Lorell - Garnet wraps some of the rope around an axle, it looks like it reinforces the connection to the wheel. Krom you notice something amiss immediately, and see the little walking tree move! It is about 60 feet from you. Roll initiatives.
Yes you took the horse. Leading a horse to water isn’t a skillful task but calming it down is. You manage to keep the horse from bucking and running off. Tree cover where you entered is minimal, and there is a copse if trees near the brook Elosa sensed.
( ooc: Can we make it to Oakhurst? I thought we weren't making great time before. )

Ithelion looks at the loaded wagon, the bumpy road, and the blood stains.
She elects to walk, and will map and watch with Elosa as she walks beside the wagon.
"A real bed in Oakhurst has some appeal."
Krom will keep watch as they make their way to Oakhurst in the cart.

You don’t see any water sources visible but you could scout around.

We’ll stop at the very least. Any water ways on that there map?

Elosa finds water not far off in the forest. You would have unhitch the horse and lead it to the water.
Who will go with the horse? All or some?

( How thick is the forest, guessing not very if we took the horse in? If we brought the horse, why didn't someone with animal handling skills come? )

On Ithelion's turn, she will move/run/dash with the horse back toward the cart.

( "You can lead a horse to water..." but it requires Animal Handling to make it drink! )
Ithelion channels the natural inclination of the horse to flee into a rapid return toward the road.
