This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
It is approahing midday now. From Adathar's map and Ithelion's detailing, you can estimate that you would reach the crossing near Thundertree before the sun starts to dip. That is, IF the terrain does not get worse.
@lorell - as you walk you keep an eye out for herbs and plants that might help you on your journey. You manage to find lots, being so close to water. You are also able to find some edibles - roots, berries, fruits - that allow the party to cut their ration usage. You believe that if you were to have time and the right tools, you could concoct some useful potions. As it stands now, you could easily make poultices and salves or even restorative tea. perhaps the next time you are at a place where you could buy a mortal and pestle, and some vials, you could use any extra time to create them.
@daemyar and @garnet and @elosa - you both are able to work together and find suitable paths when you need to. Elosa alerts Ithelion at one point to avoid going into the forest as there is a herd of wild boars. Instead you are all able to walk through the shallows - it's uncomfortable but necessary.
@krom - you keep the group ahead of you at a steady pace, making sure the sketching and detailing of Ithelion, and the stopping and cutting of herbs by Lorell doesn't hold you up too much. You've been on too many marches to know it doesn't pay to fall behind.
@all - Elosa notices it first, but it's not long after that you all smell the scent of fire. You are forced up a muddy embankment and around a grove of trees. Luckily, Garnet is able to keep the river's location accurate and as you loop around, heading back towards it, you come to a river crossing. There is a hut, a boat and docks - on the side you're on as well as the opposite bank.
26
There is a well-worn path leading down to the river. You notice it as you look around - it's about 20 feet to your right. While there is a fire lit and a cooking pot hanging over the flames, there doesn't seem to be anyone in sight.
Lorell picks any and all edible plant items that are within range of the group as to not get separated from the group. He will then split the shares of edible plant items evenly among all of the party members. Lorell will also pick any herbs that can be used for potions and for teas.
Ithelion asks Elosa to investigate closer and closes her eyes for a few seconds. After seeing what she can, she turns to the group.
"Looks like a ferry; it's probably our best option -- and I believe that's the road we want.It looks like it will fit us all, and it seems whoever is there is a hunter. I guess they own the ferry and will probably want to charge us for the privilege."
"Shall we go down and see if we can get across?"
She glances at Daemyar, "Perhaps pull that hat of yours down a little...I remember the barkeep's response. Out here, it might be difficult."
Then to Garnet, "You...you have a mix of fearsomeness and manners...perhaps...if you don't mind...you could do the talking? I wouldn't trust myself."
@ithelion/elosa - neither you nor Elosa notice anything out of the ordinary. Through Elosa's eyes you notice signs of habitation - as mentioned previously, the fire, the cooking pot, large tracks around the area, even a deer skin drying in the sun. There are fishing poles leaning on the hut as well as an empty fish rack off to the side of the hut. The boat could hold perhaps 10 people (depending on their size) and is gently rocking in the waves and tapping the dock as it moves. Some birds - ducks and gulls mostly - lazily circle above the water, hoping to catch....whatever it is that those creatures eat.
From this distance (the tree line and through Elosa) you can't make out anything else.
Looking over at the campsite ahead Garnet agrees with Ithelion's assessment. It does look to be a ferryman. Preening at little at the elf's confidence in her, she steps forward. "Yes, I can try to speak with them." Garnet paused as looked around at the others. "There are five of us, the inhabitants are probably wary of our little group. I can go over first see if I can hail someone. " Garnet notices Elosa flying about and she addresses Ithelion. "Does your little friend see anything suspicious?" As Garnet speaks she pushes her hood back so her face is revealed. If she was planned to speak with someone she wanted to make sure they could see her clearly. Less intimidating that way.
Ithelion thinks for a moment. "We saw large tracks...the occupants may be larger than normal. It's perhaps best if we go down there together -- just in case -- but you go a little ahead to speak while we do our best to look friendly...and I suppose there's a chance Daemyar might be an asset. We need to be flexible -- another reason for us all to go down."
[[ Does she have any sense of the building or doors are larger than normal ? ]]
From this distance it's a pretty standard looking tent/yurt structure, looks like it's been made with animal skins; structure could be a misleading word. Daemyar would recognize this type of structure as easily collapsible and mobile, similar to what hobgoblin and other humanoid raiding parties might use for a quick camp out. This one in particular looks a bit more permanent. [think yurt as opposed to tent. Again, it's hard to tell from this distance].
Krom looks down at the campsite and spotting the boat says a little hurriedly, "Looks like there ain't no one here, best find a bridge or some other crossin'."

Ithelion frowns, "I assumed they were in the hut...there are skins, and a boat, and tracks on the ground. Do you not think they are the ferry owners? This is the road we need, I ... think...what does everyone else think?"
[[ Assuming we are still too early for the thunder tree...are we? ]]
Then she thinks a moment, "Or do you think we need to keep going; that this is just someone's farm?"
"That makes more sense...there should be a 'Thunder tree'...and I don't seem to see anything matching the description."
"Perhaps we should keep going for a little while at least."
Garnet points at the docks and boat as she speaks"It looks like a ferry crossing because of the double dock and boat size.Personal use would not need that. The owners probably don't get a lot of people for the ferry out here but it would be good for trade heading to Oakhurst." Garnet continued "Well if ya'll don't have any further objections. Let's head on over.” she paused looking to Krom " I know you are worried. Just be ready if anything goes wrong and keep an eye on our backs." With that Garnet made her way over to the camp site. She stopped near the tent structure close enough to be easily seen in the fire light but far enough to not frighten anyone inside. She called out to any potential patrons. " Hello? We are looking for a ferry ."
( Thunder tree is ruins not a town? But the boat and dock on each side sounds like a ferry description. If ya'll want to not go forward. I can edit my post. )
Daemyar looks around. “Looks like a ferry to me. We can look for the chef or just steal the boat and be done with it.” He pulls his cloak around him and his hat down low
Garnet slowly makes her way down the path with the rest of you watching. About 20 feet from the fire, she hears a bowstring being pulled back: “Yeeea, an’ ‘nat’s fur ‘nuff lass.” A deep baritone voice is heard over the sounds of the stream and the squawk of birds. Garnet, your attention is drawn to one if the willow trees to the left.“What want here?” The voice asks.
Garnet immediately stops and holds out her hands, her shield still in her left but showing she has nothing hidden. "We have been traveling along the river looking for a place to cross. Saw your boat and thought it looked like a ferry. If it's not I can turn back round and we will leave you alone." She keeps explanation short and as simple as possible.

Lorell will roll a perception check as well and also a nature check since we are in the wild to see if he finds anything valuable/useful.
