Wash, you've heard the name. Something about a scandal, and you think he's on a Crownsguard 'most wanted' list. But this was all from a few years ago. You really don't know much more than that.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Balassar just digs into the food placed in front of him, washing it down with ale as he hears the name Huron trying to think about anything he may know.
Alton quietly eats his breakfast with a smile while he listens to Wash and Nima chat. Probably one of the few times Alton isn't talking about something.
Balassar, when you first arrived in town, you befriended a merc who had been part of the hunt for Huron Stahlmast, a brilliant human engineer assigned by the Empire to develop new weapons in Hupperdook. You don't know the details of the case either, but you do know that a warrant was issued for his arrest, but he evaded capture. You imagine there's a substantial reward from the Empire for his capture or execution.
Balassar just looks at them "Human engineer, worth a lot if we catch him. Empire don't care if he's live or dead either." with that he takes another mouth full of food washing it down with ale.
Alton pipes up from his breakfast, "Maybe we should use today to prepare and gather supplies. If Huron's lair is behind that metal door we might be in for a tougher fight than we had with Sken."

Wash agrees "We can definitely get supplies, but I know my way around here quite well, so we should be able to get it done before morning's end." [Warning, Wash might be overestimating his knowledge of the town.] Wash continues "I think we shouldn't give Huron too much time though, as if he is building a war machine, we want to confront him before he finishes it."
I don't think he's completely ready. Like not, ready to go ready. Nima keeps eating, clearly enjoying Hupperdook food once again now her captivity is done. Not ready to go tomorrow. Maybe getting ready. Hmmmm.
Well, I think you should go to the Watchmaster first. To get rid of that... she points at the corpse of Sken, and to get rid of me. She smiles sweetly, and then scowls. No doubt I'll be spending the next day telling a dozen different idiots the same story so they can all feel useful about themselves. Bleh. She finishes her breakfast. Well, are we going or what?
Less than an hour later, you all sit in the Watchmaster's office, in a busy official complex. Sken Zabriss's corpse has been inspected, identified and then taken away. Nima has been taken off for interview; she gives you a wave and a thumbs up, and doesn't appear worried. One of the gnome watchmen appears to be a cousin of hers, and they get chatting amiably as she's led away. You are shown to a waiting area where you remain for over an hour, before the door opens. You enter the Watchmaster's office, a pleasant room that's clearly a workplace rather than designed to impress. Bram Gulchswattle is sitting behind the desk, reading a report, and he nods as you enter. Dr. Washburne, and... Alton and Balassar, as I recall. I understand from Mistress Cinnarid that you have quite a tale to tell.
At this point, I would assume that you give the Watchmaster an account of your investigations and their results. If there's anything you want to emphasise, or to hide, let me know.
At the end, Gulchswattle nods, seemingly satisfied but also unhappy. Well, I'm pleased and not pleased to hear the name Huron Stahlmast again. Pleased that we know where he is, or at least have some idea. Not pleased that he seems to have thrown in his lot with the enemy in Xhorhas. However, first things first. He pulls a bag of coins from his desk drawer and hands it to Wash. Five hundred gold, as promised, for bringing in Sken Zabriss. Whatever plans Stahlmast had for her, they were important enough for him to engage in a risky prison break, and as far as I can see those plans have been thwarted. Good work.
Now, are you willing to go through that door and find Stahlmast himself?
Alton would add just a little dramatization to the big fight with Sken, but not omit any information, because who doesn't like a slightly exaggerated fight scene in a story.
Alton, nods with Wash, "We might take the day to prepare and plan, but I think we all want to help eliminate this threat to Hupperdook. Do you know of any good places to stock up on supplies, Mr. Gulchswattle?"

Wash asks Alton what he needs and leads the group to the relevant shop.
Wash also suggests on the way "I think we should invest in some potions of healing. I don't know if it was obvious, but I almost dropped fighting the kobalds and Sken and my own healing abilities were stretched paper thin."
After saying goodbye to the Watchmaster, you head up to Upper Hupperdook to the town's main market.
Here you can get pretty much anything in the Player's Handbook in the adventuring gear, weapons or armour and shields sections if it costs less than 50 gold. If it costs more, then check with me - it's probably available, but I'll confirm.
Healing potions are certainly available, they cost 50 gold. As a house rule, you can consume a potion yourself using a bonus action (RAW is as a full action). It's still an action to administer one to someone else.
Wash will (attempt to) buy 2 healing potions (-100 gp), a steel mirror (-5 gp, for seeing around corners), 10 pieces of chalk (1 sp, good for keeping track of where we have been) and 3 bags of caltrops (3 gp, like standing on lego, but in D&D).
Wash will ask if either of his companions has rope and pitons, and will buy some if not*.
He will offer to buy Balasaar a crowbar, a portable ram and a hammer, just in case we have any rogue-type tasks*.
*Depending on what Alton and Balasaar answer (which influences what he is buying), Wash might buy a Dungeoneer's Pack or Burgler's Pack that includes some of the above items.

Wash agrees "So after breakfast, should we report what we've learned so far, then go and see what we can do about this Huron bloke?"
Alton pipes up from his breakfast, "Maybe we should use today to prepare and gather supplies. If Huron's lair is behind that metal door we might be in for a tougher fight than we had with Sken."

Wash's fears allayed, he finishes his breakfast, offers to pay for the four of them and starts walking towards the Watchmaster.
Less than an hour later, you all sit in the Watchmaster's office, in a busy official complex. Sken Zabriss's corpse has been inspected, identified and then taken away. [Woohoo, so much gold! Wash gives Alton and Balassar 167 gp each and keeps 166 gp for himself.]
Wash nods his head, and looks at Alton and Balassar.
Alton would add just a little dramatization to the big fight with Sken, but not omit any information, because who doesn't like a slightly exaggerated fight scene in a story.

Balassar just pockets the coin "How much is the bounty?"
The Watchmaster looks as though he was expecting the question. One thousand five hundred gold, he replies.
Wash wasn't going to ask about getting a reward, but he gets a big smile on his face when the Watchmaster answers Balassar's question.
[If the Watchmaster doesn't answer Alton's question about supplies (or offer us some supplies - wink), does Wash know where the different shops are?]
Wash would know where supplies can be found, yes. The Watchmaster isn't interested in helping you find them, but they're easy enough to find.
[Yay, shopping episode!]
Wash asks Alton what he needs and leads the group to the relevant shop.
