Flint considers Barek’s statements and Alaric’s call for a plan. He ponders for some time, and then finds a moment with Alaric, away from Barek’s earshot. He keeps his voice low and leans in toward Alaric, “So, I’ve been thinking. If these wee devils are so unhappy with Klarg, they may not need much of a push. We could approach at night, while Klarg sleeps, and let Barek enter the cave to deliver a message from us to any goblins he encounters. We could promise coin if they just take a long walk, long enough for us to get rid of their Klarg problem.”
“Of course, there are risks. Barek could betray us, or some other goblin could go radge and attack Barek. But, if it works, we walk in, takeout Klarg, find our kidnapped fellows and walk out.”
Flint looks to Alaric and anyone else close enough to hear. “What do ye think?”
"Separating Klarg would be useful. Even if all they did was stayed in their caves -- they need not leave. It might be worth putting to Barek: We left you alive, we do not want to kill your people. We want the one who made you do it... Would your people let us through... Could you persuade them? It's high risk -- they may kill the captives (they may do that if we attack) -- but also high reward."
Alaric will try to spend most of his time ahead, scouting for more ambushes etc. He doesn't want to repeat his previous mistake. Hopefully a lot of this conversation occurred early on...
(Eraminus is following Barek, I believe then it is Alaric and Flint, followed by the wizard) Eraminus looks around, his hand gripping the hand axe tightly. He felt like they should be getting close. He glanced around to ensure there was no patrols they hadn't noticed.
Continuing to walk in line, Alvara chimes in, "I like that plan, no reward without a little risk! And I was just practicing my Minor Illusion for a treasure chest last week. You guys think this will look like enough to sway some of 'em goblins?"
She raises her hand to cast Minor Illusion and conjures the image of a large ornate chest, overflowing with gold and silver coins.
(( That sounds right on the walking order. I didn't see anything but let me know if I need to roll anything for Minor Illusion! ))
Alaric would, when not talking to the others, try to be sneaking a little in front (if that's possible), so that he has a chance of seeing any ambush before they see him....but not so far in fron as to have no back-up!
Flint, feeling confident that the group is starting to have a plan come together, takes his place, just a few steps behind Eraminus, walking north.
Upon seeing Alvara's magic display, Flint is visibly impressed, saying "Aye, lassie. I am sure that will have these goblins transfixed!" Flint takes a moment to consider the magic displays that Alvara has shown. He asks, "Where I grew up we did nut have that kind of magic. The only magic was divine, given to us from the Odinkin. Where did ye learn to do such a thing?"
Alaric draws a line in the dirt across the path, and waves both arms across each other and shakes his head. He then indicates either side of the path, as if ushering people along it. Finally, he holds up his has agai and examines the path more closely.
Can he understand what the string does? Alarm, or physical trap? And perhaps reduce the consequences of failing to disarm it if that's what he tries to do?
Also, can he see any on the side of the path that might be designed to harm those people avoiding the main trap?
The string ties to cord on the path, round, like a snare. If he attempts to disarm it, he can do so without being hit by the snare. The sides of the path appear somewhat used, perhaps by goblins that have walked around the trap.

Alaric stops in his tracks, crouches down then turns around and holds his hand up, palm outwards, signaling the party to wait.
He approaches the string, looking to see what it might be attached to. He also listens and looks for the signs of anyone hiding off the path.
[[ I'm not sure how disarming traps works, if that's what it is... ]]
Does the string cross the entire path? Would it be possible for the party to easily and safely step over it or around it?
I'll leave this one of of a spoiler so everyone can learn. To disarm a trap, you use your Dex Mod. Simple! :))
Alaric:
The wire stretches from one side of the path to the other, but no farther than the path itself. It can be easily walked around.

He will attempt to disarm the snare:
Dex roll: 15 (if he can add proficiency to it, being a Rogue and all, that's another +2)
If it goes off, he will try to make it look stylish and deliberate!
Eraminus follows his direction, slowly and cautiously making his way over to Alaric. He whispers, "The path is trapped?"
Alaric:
It goes off, but Alaric takes no damage. And looks cool while he does it lol.
