Ramious looks to Alyssa, "Up to you, you can pick whatever you like. Maybe we even switch stuff 'round as we need for this battle, and talk about what people keep later. If you'd rather the thing that stops petrification for this battle, then maybe just loan the ring to Leon until we're outta this place?"
(Will we get a short or long rest, or is the DM keeping us in suspense? *GRIN* )
Bernard shrugs, "Whatever is thought best but it seems someone should use it. If no one else does, I would at least. I usually am at a distance and looking at the enemy generally helps with aim but I am pretty good... most days."
Alyssa would furrow her brows. She didn’t understand why it was her choice. “Bugs is the healer. You and Leon are up close. I see no value in why I should take one over any of you.” She’d return to her studies.
"I'd say do as you guys wish." Leon says to the others. "I've already made my feelings known, I will not be taking any of them for the coming battle, as none of them compliment me." He settles down for some sleep. "Wake me when it is my turn for watch."
"I shall wear the bracelet for now then. It will leave me the ability to aim better. When all is done, we can always readjust or even sell it when we return home," Bernard says.
To every eye the room looked secure enough, except the door may be, but that remained closed too even if Alyssa's magic could not block it in any way. With alarm set and the walls of the hut protecting everyone from potential harm you could fully enjoy the rest, may be even without much guarding.
However, if someone was guarding - and the guard happen to have a night vision - the guard could witness an interesting occurrence: some strange noises filled the air - a bubbling sound, coming from the still closed hatch, with some scratching and careful knocking, as if someone or something was trying to move the thing aside. Eventually it did: the hatch moved away and from the opening emerged the pale figure. It turned around, sniffing the air, and then with a big jump covered the distance to the axe, picking it up with a whimpering sound changing into a happy soft cry.
Clutching to the weapon, the figure made a few steps toward the door but did not touch it. Instead, sniffed the air once more, cackled and hurried to the opening, diving in without a splash. A few minutes later the lid returned to it's place. Nothing disturbed the silence anymore, just some occasional rustling sounds like sand settling down.
((Of course, if you want to kill the intruder - feel free to interrupt, but if not - you had your long rest))
Assuming Ramious is either on watch, or woken up when the intruder comes along, he turns to the others and points at each in turn, whispering a message into their minds, "I say we leave it. Suddenly I'm real real glad that snake thing cured my curse...i mighta ended up like that poor sod." He shivers, secretly glad to see the tempting axe removed from his site.
Bernard would agree. "We save our strength and we can take care of the big boss. After that the local heroes should be able to reclaim the temple and handle the smaller threats."
Alyssa would watch in silence from her perch. She'd scribble and sketch in her notes. It reminded her of an old tale. The elf would agree to leave it be and return to a meditative state.
After a restful night sleep, Bernard would wake up and pull out some trail rations to eat. While they are all eating he'd ask. "So what's the plan? How do we want to do this."
Ramious wakes up with the others, glad to see the axe is indeed gone. He eats a bit of food, nibbling, and sits quietly....busying himself by checking through his bag. Being a soldier, he knows the time before battle well....and does his best to have it pass without building fear or nervousness. He nods to Leon's response, "Yeah. Until the door is open, we won't know what we're dealin with. But ya, don't look at it." He goes about wrapping a spare shirt across his eyes. He can still see through the fabric a bit, enough to make out shapes and the like, but hopefully block "eye contact". He looks around the room, testing it out, then shrugs. "Maybe we crack the door enough for a pet to go through and check things out...and we take cover here? But we should be ready to fight in case it's right into the blender so to say...."

"I think I got my first move planned out... I'm going to have my glow bugs try and swarm it. That way, even without looking directly at it, we should be able to tell we're its at from the glow," Bernard says.
Alyssa would open her eyes from her meditative state. While the guys discuss their tactical approach, she'd leaf through the pages of her spellbook to confirm her repertoire for the day. "We can prepare as much as we want, but until we encounter it, we may not know for sure." The elf would shrug. "I'll go through the door first if no one wants too." She'd snap her book closed and pick herself off the ground.
"Let's have the owl look around first..." Leon says. He walks over towards the doors, then has his owl appear on the far side of it. (If you require the door to be opened first, then he will do so, but the spell does not say Leon has to be able to see where the owl appears at.) In the meantime Leon casts darkvision on himself and Bugs.
Ramious stands to one side of the door, ready to rush in. To Alyssa he says, "Lemme go first. As we'd say in the army to our Cadre Mages...it's always a fair trade. The infantry takes the hits, the wizard blows 'em to bits."

Without his darkvision enabled currently, Leon just shrugs and rolls over. He goes back to sleep.
