Ramious watches this happen. "Well, crap in a sack. That sucks." He looks at the metal floor. And looks at the metal bearings. Then pulls a wooden torch out of his bag and hucks it down the hallway as far as he can.

"Okay, okay. Let me take a look at this," Bernard says as finishes his rest. He gets on his knees and begins looking at the floor and walls nearly certain there is some sort of trap.
Perception to spot traps 9
"Looks clear guys," Bernard says with confidence. He stands and begins to tentatively walk the corridor.
Leon sends his owl back to its sanctum as soon as it reaches the far end of the hall, and reports in on the room beyond. He frowns as the metal balls burn up and leaves nothing to hit the ground afterwards.
To his trident... “Can you aid us against that?” He asks, nodding towards the hall. “What if we bring up the force cube and allow nothing to pass?” He speaks the last more to the group than the trident, but includes it in the question as well, as it likely knows more about its powers than anyone else, having had other wielders before Leon, so likely has many and varied experiences under its figurative belt.
Alyssa would look to Bernard as he patches her as he’d speak aloud his self-doubt. Her expression would immediately soften, understanding all too well the shadows that cloud our self-perception. She’d been battling with her own inadequacies since, well, the beginning. But, Bernard saw her when she felt the most invisible. With a blink, she’d reach out to gently take Bug’s chin to lift it up. “Chin up Buttercup.” Words laced with magic, the elf would offer a smile, a little awkward at first from being cheesy to try to break the ice.
Cure Wounds 2d8+7 (If needed, to top Bernard up if his SR wasn’t enough.)
Alyssa’s face would relax again before going a little somber. “These places are made to challenge us… Break us…” She knew that all to well… Then after a pause, she’d continue. “But if anything, you keep us together with more than just bandaids and bug goo. We need you.” Her lip would tug into a bit of a sheepish smile. “‘Inadequacies’ and all.” A wasn’t just saying it. She was sincere and meant it. “Leon grounds us. You round us. Rami p…” She’d pause her string of rhyming, chuckling awkwardly. “I’m the ‘Debbie Downer’.” She’d tease, shifting a little uncomfortably before lightly nudging him. “Anytime you’re down though, I’ll try my best to help you back up.” Alyssa would offer her hand to help him up.

Ramious looks quizzically at Alyssa. "Ramious...p...p....plays around with us?" He grins, happy with himself.
Then turns back to the hallway. "The floor's metal. The metal balls melted. The wooden stake didn't. Think it's....a metal related trap. Anyone feel like walkin down the hallway with no metal on their bodies? Maybe yer own can sorta shuffle his way down there? Did the owl see any levers at the far end to shut things off?" He grins at Leon.

"The force should protect you!" Confidently (but he always sounded confident) declared the trident in Leon's mind.
Meanwhile, Bernard's careful steps quietly echoed off the walls. About 20ft in something begun to disturb the ranger and after a while he realized it's his hand - or, to be precise, the rings on his hand that become quite hot, and soon the feeling promised to become unbearable. The accidental touch of the sword proved that it heated up too by now. (Mind you, returning will cost another 20ft)
Alyssa’s eyes would narrow a bit suspiciously when Ramious would ask if any one else would like to talk down the hallway. Normally he was insistent on being the guinea pig. Eventually, she’d shrug. She was plenty expendable and didn’t really need her armour to defend herself as long as she had her crystal focus. The elf would start to unlatch in preparation doff her armour.
A would pause. Her brow would pop. “One clever way to get us to undress.” She’d wait to see if they were going to use the cube.
Bernard feels the pain and braves through it for a bit. However, after 20 feet he has had enough. Forty more feet he would feel would sear his flesh beyond belief. So, he noped out of the situation. Turning around he hustled back, "Nope, I was wrong, definately a trap!"
"Wait here then, no reason for us all to chance it on this..." Leon says as he moves into the hall. He activates the cube of force and attempts to walk down the hall alone. He would do max setting on the cube of force, so nothing should pass through it.
If "nothing" included Bernard, then soon Leon had to stop when came across the ranger that looked with the growing concern at his hands and counting other minor and major metal things in his possession.
The githyanki did not feel anything suspicious, neither did Wave (the weapon immediately informed Leon about it with a very appropriate comment about it being right and not so vague hint on its awesomeness).
"Well I am glad you are with us." Leon informed the trident. He frowns at Bugs and sighs. "Going to have to let the defenses down, and get Bugs in here, then return to the others..." He suits words to actions and lets down the defenses long enough to get Bugs inside. Then, with Bugs in tow - defenses up again, he returns to the others. Once again letting down the defenses he nods once. "That worked. If we all stay in the force cube, then we can travel the hall without issue." As soon as the others are ready he puts up the defenses again, and heads across.

The force (cube) proved to be a great protector - slowly, Bernard's rings cooled down again and the group safely reached the room, that owl reported before. The room - 30x30ft - looked almost cozy by the dungeon standards: algae and fungus on the walls, proving no foul effects are in the air, no (visible) traps, dry floor and wide stone stairs leading up and out of the room, one small door on the side...
"What did I tell you!..." begun Wave another round of boasting, when that small door suddenly flew open and a few snarling roughly humanoid figures with razor-sharp teeth and jagged claws pour out of it like wasps from a disturbed nest. One, two, three... - eight figures surrounded the cube, clawing at the invisible walls in futile attempts to reach that sweet meat inside.
Even if you never personally fought such monsters before, hairless mottled, decaying hide stretched tight over the bones, the sharp teeth of a carnivore, and sunken eyes that burned as if they were hot coals - the very image of the creatures mentioned in every scary story about gravesites, the ghouls.
"Oh, yes, and there are monsters ahead. Around," added Wave and became silent.

You are inside the cube of force and three sides of it covered with ghouls. The side which is still exposed to the corridor is free from them (the cube is blocking the exit to the corridor). Leon and Ramious are at the front and can attack (when/if the field is dropped) five ghouls in melee. Alyssa and Bernard can either melee a couple of ghouls each or shoot any of them.
"Speaking of fun!" He holds out his hand and is rapier appears in his grasp. "Can we back this cube up, all the way down the burning metal hall, and then fight them in the hallway where they have to come at us 2 at a time?"

Alyssa would let out a breath of relief when Leon would safely pick Bernard up along the way. Her posture would further relax when the cubed pair would arrive to escort Ramious and herself the rest of the way. The elf would do a quick check with Bernard, offering her magic to cool down his metal a little quicker, soothing any burn threats.
A soft smile tugged at the corner of A's lips as she rested a hand on the protective barrier while they walked. She continued to marvel at its properties, further appreciating the way Leon 'wielded' this power. He worked well with Wave and it's come to safeguard them in many ways. "Thank you." She'd whisper softly out loud to them. To fill any dead silence, the cleric would hum a gentle melody as they continued the rest of the way.
When the hoard of ghouls would converge on their front face, Alyssa would begin to reach for her Thorns tucked in her side. She'd pause when Rami would speak up and suggest bottlenecking, preparing herself for tactics yet to come. She remembered that there were additional properties, but potential limits to it's magic. A would be ready all the same.
"I don't think we can move back down the hall." Leon says with a shake of his head. "We also cannot move to the stairs here, as we cannot move forward while the force wall is being blocked by the ghouls." He shrugs. "We will likely need to fight these here and now, but can take a moment to get prepared before I drop the cube."
Yes I think we have used 10 charges so far, depends on how you rule the dropping to pick up Bugs, then the dropping to get the rest of the group inside. Might be more like 15 charges used. Likely not a good idea to go back down the hall, drop the force wall, fight the ghouls, then use the force wall again, as it would be nearly out of charges then. Up to the group though, just not going to be able to use it more than once or twice more if we do so.
Ramious watches this happen. "Well, crap in a sack. That sucks." He looks at the metal floor. And looks at the metal bearings. Then pulls a wooden torch out of his bag and hucks it down the hallway as far as he can.

It's more of a field, generated between the metal bands, so, the faster Bernard is shielded from it, the better.
