"Oh, for the love of-" Nenne says as Lemon takes off upstairs. "You fool, have you not been paying attention? These temples are full of dangers! You cannot do things so carelessly!" She follows him back to the upper level and notices the statues of the Chultan warriors. Her head cocks to the side.
"Look," she points at each in turn. "Their headdresses. The clay warriors we battled each had distinctive headgear, as well. Which of these spears belonged to which creature? Their placement is likely as important as with the keys, yesterday."
"Sorry elf. Ye are right. This... honor of mine gets to me head hahaha!" He gives a hearty laugh. "Let us put the appropriate spears to their holds shall we? I can stand by this 'er contraption, and in case it needs help holding, mine body can help. Otherwise..." he looks to the contraption that they tried to open from earlier before, "I shall go ferst (first). I am in good health," and he sweeps his arm outwards to everybody, "and in great company! Aye, and if it be poison, I have me ways of avoiding that! What say ye beings?"
Orvex temples his fingers on his chin, raises a finger to say something, and ultimately decides to say nothing. He walks to stand by Boosey and says, "Do you think the whole pit floor is made from past golems?"
„What were you thinking about? You have this habit of thinking but not speaking your thoughts. And would it make any difference or is this just something to satisfy your scholarly curiosity?“
"It just seems reckless to be anywhwere near that mural knowing that it is trapped. There could even be more traps that we don't yet know about. Whoever designed this temple, or shrine really...I don't see any real place for worship here. That leads me to think that this is more of a dedication to the god than an actual temple. Also, I'm not entirely sure these were gods. I suspect they might have been men...where was I? Oh, yes. This place was obviously designed to twart intruders. Presumably, there is another cube under that hatch, but to what end? I am loving the expedition, make no mistake about that! I do have to wonder what it's all for though. This all just seems like one big death trap."
At Orvex's comment Boosey looks around the pit. "You might be right, but I really couldn't say. There is strange powerful magic at work in this place, and that puzzles me. How can these things be destroyed, and suddenly reappear in their cells as if nothing had happened? This floor, too. Look at it, where we've been fighting. It looks like a battle has taken place here, but" and he looks at Orvex, "when we came in here the sand was perfect, not a blemish on it." He sighs and looks to the passage that leads back up the stairs. "We should get back up there before the others do something that might set this lot off again!"
Once on the upper floor, Boosey says to the others. "Let's be cautious before putting these spears on the statues. I'd suggest that we do all four at the same time, athough," and he looks thoughtful, "if these things animate as well? Well, we'll have to try one way or another, but we should at least make sure that the right spear goes to the right statue"
„Have you already recorded what we have done here, Orvex? If not please do it before we place the spears into the sockets. Write every detail down: attacking the golems only in the pit, one at a time, taking note of the different heads, how we placed the spears. Just everything. And before we try the spears, take the notes outside. I don’t want to suffer amnesia again without some notes to remind us of our failures. Maybe the magic won’t erase the notes if they are outside.
And who knows how Shagambi liked to be worshipped. Maybe fighting in the pit was like praying. Anyway, the cubes are important, and this could be a way of making certain one is worthy of getting a reward by solving a puzzle. Or being able to enter his real temple where the real ceremonies are held. We will find out when we have all... how many cubes are there?“
After a short piece of time studying the statues and the spears, Boosey turns to the party with a look of triumph on his face. "I have it," and he quickly explains his thoughts to the party, directing each spear to the correct statue. "That one first," he points to the statue to his left, "then clockwise in turn. Ready?"
Now armed with some direction, Lemon gleefully takes a spear and inserts it into the first statue's grip. The spear shaft slides down through the warriors hands to clink against its plinth. Suddenly massive gears turn somewhere in the floor below the party. The shrine vibrates, clanking and ticking can be heard under the floor, and dust falls from the ceiling. As sudden as it came, it all ends. Shrugging with a harumph, Lemon tries the second, aquiring the same results. When the final spear is inserted, the pedestal begins to turn on the spot just as in Unhk's shrine. An ornate stone cube corkscrews up from a hatch in its top.
Allister grabs the cube and looks at it. „Looks like there is at least two of them. For in every shrine for every old god. Shall we continue our search?“
"Слава Богу," Nenne sighs. A knot of anxiety loosens slightly in her chest and she calls out, "Well done, the lot of you. Now may we extract that cube and leave this horrid place?"
Orvex squeals in glee again watching the cube rise up out of the pedestal. After it is acquired, he asks, "If the intent is to travel to another shrine, might we venture to I'Jin's Shrine? I am eager to sketch the floor design."
The gnome breathes a sigh of relief once the clanking stops and the cube appears. "Yes, let's leave this place and not return. It has taken a price from us far higher than it was entitled to." As the party leaves the temple he says, "If there is one of these cubes in each of the temples, there must be a place where these are gathered together. As we traverse the city, we should keep an eye out for such a place. It could save us much time." He gives a mirthless laugh. "There is one place it is bound to be though," and he points at the temple sitting atop an island surrounded by lava. "In there."
The party takes shelter in a nearby ruin, taking care not to disturb too much inside so as to attract the attention of anything that might be living inside. An hour later they find themselves on the road heading north again. Orvex explains that the shrine for I'Jin is just off the main road and very easy to find. The road is raised off the valley floor, probably due to flooding, so it makes travel easier, but vegetation has still found its way up through the street. As the temple comes into sight, Orvex points it out saying, "There! That is where those magnificent floor tiles are."
The further the group walks, the more preoccupied Nenne becomes, and the more purple undertones start to color her skin. When Orvex makes announcement, the contrast between his expression and hers couldn't be any more antithetical.
"Has no one else noticed that dark presence?" she brings up, crossing her arms in a self-protective way. "The farther north we travel, the stronger it feels."
Orvex quickly looks around alarmed, but seeing no immediate threat he turns back to Nenne with a quizzical look. He asks, "What presence? I don't feel anything. Do you mean like we're being watched?"
"Aye. I don't feel this presence elf. Maybe it be yer... divine sense just actin' up? Unless ye are able to discern it and tell what it may be once we be gettin' close to it."

"I have most of it. I will add more. This is a good idea!"
