The trolls eyes go wide as the energy gathers in Nenne's hands. It looks as if it might pounce at any moment but the creature visibly relaxes when the spell affects him. That is, until he has to swat at another bat.
At a bit of a loss as what to do, Boosey shouts again to Vigg. "Okay, stay still. My friend here is going to try something. You may want to shut your eyes, there will be a very bright light to scare the bats."
"You read my mind, storyteller," Nenne says, eyeing the gnome. "Please communicate to him that my spell will require me to touch him. He will glow very brightly, but it will not hurt."
After this is translated, she approaches the troll carefully and lays a gentle hand on him, casting Light.
As Nenne approaches the troll's nostrils flare betraying its anxiety about what is happening. The moment the cleric's hand touches the dark green skin of the troll it backs away quickly retreating five feet. It slaps at its glowing body and bats. A couple dozen bats take flight from the creature. It watches them go and it yells at the cleric, stamping a fist to the ground to accentuate its words.
The gnome relays Nennes message to the troll. "The cleric needs to touch you for this, please let her." He winces slightly as the troll looks at Nenne suspiciously. "She has already healed some of your hurts, she will cast a spell on you that should scare the bats away."
Boosey says to Nenne. "It's just a bit skittish is all. I think Vigg wants you to try again," He looks back to Vigg. "It said it wants more of that, anyway. You want my friend to try again Vigg?"
The light takes hold again, but this time the troll doesn't move away from Nenne's touch. Black-red blood comes off on her fingertips. No more of the bats flee from the conjured light, preffering their reappearing meal. The troll growls at Nenne after realizing the light isn't working. It then repeats two words to the cleric's face too close for comfort. The thing's hot, foul breath can be felt by the eladrin, though the troll does not seem overly hostile in this moment.
"Vigg," Boosey addresses the troll. "You need to stay absolutely still. My friend Nenne is going to do something quite scary, but don't panic. If it works, we should be able to move some of the bats again. Sound good?"
"There is one more attempt I can make," she says, dispelling Light and taking a step away from the troll. "Please communicate to him that I will leave his side to cast another spell. Tell him that small magic creatures will appear in the air to fight the bats. The magic creatures will not harm him, but the bats may become angry and bite him anyway. The magic will continue to fight until the bats leave or are dead."
Nenne does not move from her spot and looks the troll in the eye while she waits for Boosey to translate.
Boosey relays Nenne's words to the troll. "I need you to understand what is going to happen now, Vigg. There will be other creatures appear that will fight off these bats, they wont harm you, but the bats might come back and bite you. You must NOT harm my friend, or we will have to leave you to the bats. So you understand? Stay calm, and we will help you."
Nenne backs up 15 feet from the troll, places her hand on the symbol of Kelemvor on her shield, and casts Spirit Guardians as a horde of sparkling, black panthers appear around her.
As the spirits bite and claw into the bats, Nenne notices their wounds are healing over. The spirits persist however and with the trolls slapping them away as they become weaker, the spell eventually wins out. With the bats gone, still regenerating, but flying off the trolls make several casual hand motions to Boosey and retreats into the jungle saying words in its tongue.
"Did any of you notice the bats were healing themselves?" Nenne asks the group, squinting at the creatures as they fly away. "I grow less fond of this jungle by the hour. Let us press onward with caution and alertness."
Boosey stares after the troll for a while as it makes off into the jungle. He laughs and turns to the others, "it said thank you! Well, it's as grateful as a troll can get, anyway." He nods to Nenne. "Thank you, too. It would have been a pity to kill the creature. We should go before those bats come back to find fresher meat."

Nenne drops her spell after the bats fly away and holds her hands up in a conciliatory fashion. "Apologies if I frightened you."

Nenne will oblige, casting Light a second time and hoping the strobe effect will frighten more of the bats into leaving.

"That's not working," says the gnome, stating the obvious. "Anything else that you can do? It wants you to keep trying!"

"Here we go then. Nenne?" and Boosey casts healing word on the troll before she begins for 9 healing
