Feldspar's Investigation roll 24
OOC: Now we're getting somewhere.
Feldspar: "Cold? The earth is always cold, unless you go deep. Up here... it all feels cold to me. We'd best get moving." He hoists his warhammer onto his shoulder, and heads off after Milo.
OOC: how's your investigation check helping the party advance?
Medb nods to Milo remaining at the center of the party.
OOC: Roll athletics to advance thanks to Milo everyone gets advantage. Individual order on the climbing path what's the order up? Medb is in the center.

"I can go scout ahead if you like. It was my old job, after all..."
Wuldric slips past the rest of the party, quietly making his way up the cold slope. This definitely isn't his first time climbing mountains given his motions.
Stealth 10
OOC: This is a failure. DC is raised on stealth challenge to advance.
Wuldric barely hikes two feet before sliding back down over loose rock underfoot. The hunter does not advance.

Milo leads the group on the first stretch of the climb. Twice he has to turn around and chose a diverrent way, because the path is to threatarus but overall he finds a good route.
"Step here, Wuldric. Grab here as you walk," says Feldspar. You can tell he has a practiced eye for detail. "That bit looks secure. Just look more carefully before you step. Here, let me help." He offers his hand to Wuldric.
Athletics roll with advantage:49
EDIT: Feldsparstumbles backwards trying to help Wuldric.
OOC: how's your investigation check helping the party advance?
I can use it to find secure spot to hammer in rope anchors, secure hand-holds, and so forth.
Thankfully with Feldspar's foresight he had already attached a rope to himself and a piton in the mountainside, he manages to stay attached even though he slips trying to help Wuldric climb up.
OOC: You know you haven't rolled or used your portent rolls yet Feldspar!
Harok and Wuldric contributions are up next! Stealth, athletics, and investigation are off the table as well as the idea of 'assisting with the climb' as it's been essential the actions of two rolls. Please contribute something else to advance the party!!
Harok looks and studies. (Ball park how high is the party ahead versus how high do we need to get? ) As he looks he begins attaching his rope to a bolt and licks his finger holding it up to judge the wind.
OOC: Harok would have no idea having never been in this area before.
At the base of the mountain, as the rest of the group attempts to climb Valor remains behind last to attempt to move up. Looking up at the craggy and relentless climb he shakes his head.
"I think I've made a mistake," Valor says calling out to the group. "I wish all of you good fortune but this is where I leave you," the man says turning from the group and mounting Saske horse before heading back down the mountain towards Vasselheim.

"Hmm cant tell if I have enough rope..." Harok will begin to untie the bolt, stop and leave it affixed to the rope before re-securing the rope to his person.
Perception 4 talking aloud to himself. "I can't blame him...what am I missing here. There's a way."
Harok looks around. The large well armed half orc is visibly frazzled by the cold and the climb. "We NEVER came this far, but when I was a boy my father took me on hunting trips every year. I hated it."
Harok squats down and looks at the ground to see what the ratio of grass, rock, and sand is. "Footprints don't always happen even if something big goes by."
He starts to move bbn laterally a few yards left, then back right. "But big stuff deer and larger does go through and people who are always in town usually don't realize. That was one of the lessons."
Harok looks back the way they came. First with both eyes, then right only, left, and again with both. "Deer, goats, and the things that eat them go up here." He turns ahead and again scans multiple times.
"Most animals aren't intelligent but they aren't dumb, and nature loves efficiency to the point of laziness." He scoops a handful of ground looking for small rocks and tosses it down seeing if it rolls straight or finds a groove.
"Snow melts to water which takes the path of least resistance flowing down, we should do the same going up. Animals often use the same trail to the point it becomes worn and easily traversed. Might make it easier going if we found and followed one. If I were an animal......"
Harok's observations advance the party to a visible ledge thanks to finding an animal trail making climbing easier. The ledge itself is ahead about another 35 ft.
"Nearly there," Medb calls out her tone relieved as Henwyn appears with a pop then darts around the party chattering encouragement which unless you speak Sylvan just sounds like cheering.
OOC: Wuldric is up!

After tumbling backwards, Wuldric springs to his feet in silence, Opening his notebook. "Maybe I've written something here about the mountain? Or something here will at least jog my memory about it... There's gotta be something in here," he says, frantically flipping through the pages.
OOC: with the use of Feldspar's portent roll of 15 Wuldric succeeds. We'll defiantly talk about skill challenges in future...whew...
Wuldric study of Vasselheim and the areas around gives the party the knowledge of the mountain and what rock formations might cause slides. His knowledge advancing the party finally to the ledge.
Once on the ledge they see now a cavern. It's pitch dark ahead with no light whatsoever, even in this bitter cold late afternoon, reaches inside it's depths.
Milo looks into the darkness: „Who has a lantern that i can borrow for now? I left most of my torches with my horse. I assume i am not the only one who needs some extra light?“

Harok attempts to peer in. Perception 21 (look to see but more smell animal or rot) Reaching into his pack he pulls a wooden stake. "Here, this will burn. I don't know if hiding would be much use anyway, a cornered predator will be an issue."
"If you do we can try and hide first. Perhaps we can all get a ranged volley off before it breeches the exit. If it doesn't see us and we steady ourselves I like the odds." Harok pours some oil on a stake and lights it with his tender kit.
"Douse that if needed. I'd rather fight a creature already bleeding if it isn't cornered. "
