Halec examines the map constructed with Igna's aid to try to discern the best path to the next closest shard of the Ruby Snowflake. "To catch you up on other oddities, Jharen, we received the aid of a witch in crafting this map which charts the estimated directions which the shards of the exploding relic traveled. We can use this to mark off the shards we have recovered, and plot our course towards the next one."
The fighter closes his eyes tightly and twists his mustache roughly as if afflicted by a headache. "We've also noticed a trend for bounty postings on the city's bounty board to have insight to shard locations, inexplicable as that may sound. A tournament offered a gem as a reward that could be a shard piece, for example. I can't really offer an explanation but thus far following those bounty postings does indeed seem to lead to shard pieces, rather consistently."
"That is rather... peculiar" replies Jahren regarding the bounty board and tournaments. "Have you followed this path?"
At a slightly different moment, Jahren tells the party "well my friends, I owe you many thanks for my release from that cell." "I wish you the best of luck on your noble quest. May additional help reveal itself when you least expect." Pausing for a moment, he adds "unless of course you would allow me to follow you on your journey and make a record of your story?"
The lore seeker looks at the second book he took from the library, curious as to what further knowledge he may or may not have lucked into.
OOC: So should we conclude that Ophiwalyn has left the party semi-permanently?
OOC. Sorry, not sure why I put that name. So Al-the-Bard has left, AND Anthony has basically left the party, determined to run off on his own even if another character replies immediately right after Anthony speaks?

The mayor smiles "Yes, there should be more bounties at the Cheatau by now. Oh, also, while you guys were gone, some new stores have opened up in the Fountain Plaza, you should check them out!" he looks up at the sky "Oh, looks like its getting late. There's an inn named the Lost Realms in the west part of town, its quite a fine inn."
“If you’re willing to aid us, I for one would be happy to have you join us, Jharen,” Halec says. “You seem a man of principle and learning, that is certainly an asset. We evidently have a long way to go. I still can’t fathom the mindset of that dark elf fellow, robbing and bombarding us and then just sparing us to toss us into a cell, but it would seem we have one more chance at this quest, so there may yet be hope for the region.”
To the mayor, Halec replies, “Thank you, I will peruse the bounties as well as the stores while we are here. No doubt they will connect to the shards somehow because that is how it seems fate has chosen to operate.”
Halec stares wistfully towards the plaza that once held the Ruby Snowflake in its original intact form. He takes a swig from his flask, and adds, speaking to Jharen and Ophiwalen and Chazrael if they are present, “I have this... this theory. It’s somewhat disturbing. The sort of diseased idea that likely one shouldn’t spread. It makes no sense to me, so many things that have happened since the relic shattered. It was as if the very paradigm for normalcy and rationality broke with it.”
He puts the flask away, puts a hand on his mule’s flake for the reassurance of something consistent, and goes on, “What if irrationality is the natural state of the universe? I’m no scholar but I’ve read of ancient times of titans and primordial, elemental chaos before the gods imposed order on creation and created life. I don’t know if these stories are literally true or a metaphor, I’m an engineer, not a theologian. But, what if the rational order of things was a lie? A beautiful lie perpetuated by this relic, the Ruby Snowflake? What if, in breaking it, the culprit also broke down the natural order of logic and reason, cause and effect? Gravity seems to operate as normal, time goes forward, but everything else seems... quite mad.”
He takes a moment to collect himself, then laughs abruptly, and cuts it off. “A good nights sleep is all we need. Yes. No more morose talk. We should go to the inn.”
Anthony breaks open the cell door, but as he is about to walk out, a guard sneaks up behind him and knocks him unconscious. (By the means of a hard blow to the head.)
To Halec, Jahren replies "well, I do know a few minor tricks." "I shall come and record your story and aid you in any small way I might. I have little to no experience fighting, you should know, and thus hope not to be a burden. First, for my notes, what do you call yourselves?"
"Also, at the risk of offending I must ask, is sir Anthony always so... rash?"
OOC: Yes, yes he is, although at this point, not having learned that his baby yeti is un-petrified, and not having slain slough, he is very disturbed mentally- to the point of borderline insanity. Hence, the slaying of commoners, throwing caution to the wind to slay the thieves, ripping cell doors off etc.
(The question about Anthony was in character to Halec and the others. Regarding the yeti, it seems to me he was either with you when you first ran off, and thus Jahren never cast the spell on it, or he was with us and is indeed un-petrified as the DM stated, in which case you likely would have seen him in his living state when we were all teleported back to town together. Any chance you are looking for every excuse possible to act out and be a murder hobo? Speak to another character and then saying "nope, I wasn't there" when they reply is also illogical. You are either speaking to the other character or you are not. You can be walking off as they reply, sure, but you are unlikely to be leagues away. Again, any excuse to be a murder hobo, no? What's really going on here?)
To Halec regarding his thoughts, Jahren replies "I will think on this." "There is indeed a great deal of chaos that makes up our world, although I have witnessed this in other lands prior to the shattering of the Ruby Snowflake. Might you tell me of an example of what you speak of that I have not already witnessed?"
