Serwa, do you remember the sign code we learned in the military? I only had a quick instruction, but i think you had to learn it more indept.“
ooc: about how long will it take to reach phandelver? do we have an estimated time?
“I wasn’t a scout, so I only recall a handful, but we can get some basics going,” she says. She demonstrates a scout holding up a closed fist, “Trouble, stay back,” makes an overhand motion, “Advance,” then she makes a sideways motion with her hand at her side, “Be ready for action but conceal your intention.”
OOC: The group would have time to work out other signals on the way - at least enough to cover basic MMORPG “emotes.”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Also, I am good to elapse to Phandelver- additional road talk can happen on the way, of course.
After sharing the few hand signals she can recall, Serwa says, "Hopefully it's enough to get us by. Anyway, we rescued one more hostage than I expected to, that's something. We'll see how things go at Phandelver." She seems hesitant to say much more, perhaps out of concern she will jinx their success, so after some time she lapses into another melancholy or morbid road song.

She does a pretty good rendition of a song she insists everyone should know, "Oh mermaid, oh mermaid, stop eating my crew," although the others are fairly certain this is not a "standard tavern song," but another of her made-up concoctions.
The rutted track emerges from a wooded hillside, and you catch your first glimpse of Phandalin. The town consists of forty or fifty simple log buildings, some built on old fieldstone foundations. More old ruins—crumbling stone walls covered in ivy and briars—surround the newer houses and shops, showing how this must have been a much larger town in centuries past. Most of the newer buildings are set on the sides of the cart track, which widens into a muddy main street of sorts as it climbs toward a ruined manor house on a hillside at the east side of town.
As you approach, you see children playing on the town green and townsfolk tending to chores or running errands at shops, closing up as the end of the day fast approaches. Many people look up as you approach, but all return to their business as you go by.
Sildar seems much more at ease.
“My friends,” he says, “let us secure lodgings. I’m told the local inn is very quaint, and I’m in need of rest.”
Serwa recoils a bit from the sight of the children playing. “I never could stand kids. Children of any kind. Even when I was one of them. Lily... a friend, used to give me a hard time about that. Kids are gross, and loud. Let’s get to that inn before one tries to talk to us.”
The wood elf smiles wryly at Serwa's reaction. "I thought you'd love children. Braised, in a white wine sauce." To Sildar he says, "Lead the way, good sir. You know the town better than we. Will you be staying with us?"
Aster says to phandalin: "its alright the tavern, but you cant expect much from phandalin." "I will gladly take the lead, sir elf." says aster to Xianon despite him talking to Sildar. Aster leads the group to the sleeping giant.
“The Sleeping Giant? I’ve heard that the Sleeping Giant is... rather unsavory. No, the Stonehill Inn is where I intend to stay, but you, friends, feel free to stay wherever you would like.” Sildar says, then turns to Xianon and says “I don’t know much more about the town then you, friend. This is my first time being in Phandalin, but I’ve been told some things about it by The Lord’s Alliance.”
The wood elf nods to Sildar. "I'm sure it will far exceed your last lodging, either way," he assures the rescued warrior. "Aster, you're familiar with the town? How is the Stonehill Inn?"
„The stone hill in is definetly more ‚luxurious‘, but if you are looking for the true tavern experience then the sleeping giant is your destination. Both places have their charm.“
“The authentic tavern experience, as in, graffiti in multiple languages and at least one table with a carving of a sex act on it,” Serwa says. “Ah, culture.”
"Daran Edermath is the general of the local militia. Or at least he was when i still lived here. Its not a large militia, but phandalin isnt large either, so its protected enough. The lion crest belongs to the Lionshield Coster. It and sells armor and weapons and is run by Linene Greywind."
Serwawill follow the lead of the others who have more familiarity with the locale.
OOC: To confirm, we still have a missing NPC ally, kidnapped, but our current course is to get in rooms and then report in to other authorities at present? Sorry, might need a reminder as I and others joined after the very beginning of the game.
OOC: Yeah, I think that is about it. First priority I think is to get a long rest, so unless someone feels strongly otherwise, lets go to the Stonehill Inn.
Tomora is intent on finding Gundren and learn more about the wind echo cave. Sildar told us there is a wizard named Larno Albrek that might know the location of Cragmaw Castle where Gundren was taken. So I think the next step is to learn what we can about the area and try to find this wizard.
The monk follows the lead of those who are more familiar with the area. "So in the morning we need to find this wizard who may know the way to King Grol's castle," the monk summarizes. "But you haven't heard from him in two months. What was he working on for the Lords' Alliance, Sildar? That may tell us where to start looking for him."

Tomora quickly stifles a wave to the children but can't help smiling watching them play "I sure could use a rest, as well...lets find that inn."
