"So whats the plan, then? I could turn into a little bitty spider and get the lay of the place...if you think its a good idea. Nobody would notice a tiny spider in this cellar."
"That's a great idea," Serwa says. "Just don't get stepped on. If you think you can do it safely, having a better image of what lies ahead gives us a better shot at getting those hostages out alive."

"Well, I can't get stepped on if I'm on the ceiling, right?" she says with a grin. "Ok, give me a bit, I'll see what I can see."
Tomora's form becomes misty and seems to be sucked down to a tiny spot on the floor. A tiny black spider remains, which scurries forward disappearing under the crack in the door.
After about ten minutes the tiny black spider appears from under the door again. The misty shape expands, re-materializing as Tomora. She grins "Ok, here's the deal..." She take dagger an begins carving a map of the base on the top of a table.
"Down them stairs are a bunch of rooms. the one on south, here (#1), the door is open and has the three bugbears. They were getting some laughs by picking on a scrawny goblin. On the other side, to the north - here (#2) - there is some sort of workshop full of bottles and alchemy tools. A rat almost caught me there. and this room here (#3) has..." she pauses for dramatic effect, "Mr Glasstaff himself, working away with his quill and ink. Past that the hall goes south to that door we saw earlier. This room (#4) is where their holdin' the prisoners...two women and an older boy...but there's two guards in there. I didn't like the look of the tall lanky fellow...he seemed to like to torment them two women..."
Rising, the elf takes a casual step back as Tomora transforms. "Good luck," he says quietly. As the spider scuttles away, he says, "Don't worry about the possibility of hostages. That's the last resort of the desperate, and the desperate can be manipulated." He sighs. "Things aren't quite going in the direction I expected," he says quietly, mostly to himself.
The elf peers at the rough map. "The bugbears and goblin are probably making enough noise not to notice us unless there's a real racket," he notes. "So if we take out the guards first, then we have a choice between smuggling them out and coming back later, or taking out Glasstaff himself, then the uglies."
"Perhaps...I couldn't really hear them (spiders don't have great hearing it turns out)..." Tomora muses, she points to the door to room #1, "but that door there is open, so they may spot anyone going by..."
Xianon grimaces. "...they'll make enough of a racket to alert everyone else," he agrees. He stares at the map, at a loss. "What about this door?" he asks, indicating the one to the cells. "Will the guards see us coming down the corridor?"
"No...that door is closed (the other ones too). They all swing into the rooms, too." Tomora rubs her head in thought, " I don't know..." After a moment she makes a suggestion, "I have a lot of magic left...If I stood here in front of the doorway I could keep those bugbears penned up in the room while y'all take out the guards fast...y'know, assuming I don't get killed. Though, I am pretty tough." She says with a grin and a wink "But who knows what Glasstaff will do...I ain't sayin' its a good plan, but..."

Xianon Lathalas
The elf look up from the map. "And what's behind that door?" he asks rhetorically, pointing to the northwest of the room. Standing, he makes his way to said door and examines it before trying the handle.
Xianon - you don't notice anything out of the ordinary about the door. It is wooden with an Iron handle and a built in lock - the same as most the other doors. You are not able to see the hinges on this one, as it swings away from you.
“Spider-scouting is pretty great,” Serwa says flatly, but sincerely. “Aster, I’ll get the military would have loved a lineup of druids that could do that, eh?”
She steps you to aid Xianon at the door, if needed, nodding that she is ready in the event of a nasty surprise on the other side.
One of my former medic companions was actually able to shape shift. The Army enlisted him for his healing magic, but realizing what he could do they transfered him over to scouting and espionage. But to the plan: The thing i dont like about first attacking the guards and rescuing the hostages is that, if we are discovered, we'd be cornered pretty quickly. On the other hand, we need to get those people out of here as quick as possible.
Aster adds: And maybe i am able to do some lockpicking. Im used to fiddling around with small parts. A body and lock are very similar. You just need to know where to poke around.
Xianon shakes his head. "Not without the proper tools, we can't. And none of these goons" - he kicks one of the corpses in the ribs- "know the thieving arts, so we won't find a set. Though I suppose we could improvise, if we could find the right kind of wire," he adds. "But I didn't see any. But Aster," he adds, "Surgery is only helpful if you know some anatomy." He hesitates, but under the circumstances doesn't feel he has a choice. "You'd better leave it to me."
I have opened some locks that i was not supposed to open back in my childhood. I am somewhat familiar with the anatomy of a lock. But i trust you to be more experienced. Aster pauses for a moment. Now that i say it like that, one could mean i would think you are a thief. It is not meant like that.
"I wasn't always a monk," he confesses with a rueful grimace. "But anyway, it's a moot point. No tools. So let's get back to our strategy." He points to the cells. "This option has the closest thing to an avenue of escape. We only have to push past the doorway to have a clear shot at the cavern and the tunnel out. We'd be even harder pressed to escape with the other targets." I wonder if the same trick we used with the goblins would work here. Walk into the prison with Glasstaff's head, and see what happens?"

I like that. I also feel like if we eliminate the leader the others will be unorganized. Isnt there a saying about cutting the head off of something? Aster also looks for the cleanest, least damaged redbrand cloak. Investigation if required: 16
Xianon looks up at Serwa and Tomora. "Getting past the bugbears mightn't be a problem. If they're having their fun, they'll be distracted, so at a disadvantage to hear us. Even you, O fearless leader," he says to Serwa. "You're really not loud. Until you start singing." He grins.

Serwa does not grin - as a rule - but quips back, "It's all about the diaphragm. Also, Aster may have a pretty good idea there. We've got enough dead and knocked out Redbrands, we could probably get enough of their cloaks that we would pass for them. Maybe we can't fool the other Redbrands, or Glasstaff, but we might be able to fool the Bugbear guards, for a little while, at least. Maybe we try a con to get the hostages out. If it goes badly we at least might catch them off guard a bit. Trickery isn't my go-to, but if it means the difference between them leaving here alive and dead, it's worth it."
OOC: For the DM, is this door opening? Or locked/stuck?
