Journey is bit distracted by the obviously magically animated armor. With his attention wandering, he doesn’t know what to make of Alan’s statements.
Journey and Ourick learn of Omdeker’s Odds and Ends, a store that sells of wide verieity of adventuring gear, including health potions and some simple arms. Omdeker’s Odds and Ends is two blocks north and one block east from the Elfsong. Ourick remembers that those affiliated with the Flaming Fist can buy standard arms and armor from the Quartermaster for the Flaming Fist. The Quartermaster building is located in Lower City, just outside the gate to Upper City. High quality weapons are available at the Blue Gill Forge in Upper City. No one you talk to in the tavern has been there before, so you don’t know exact directions.
Macawi is in significant pain from the blow she took during the earlier fight. It is hard for her to concentrate on much else and she doesn't notice much of anything in the tavern.
[We will say that the short and long rests happen without incident. I will write a bit about what Ourick and Filvendor observe while in the taproom tomorrow.]
As morning fades into afternoon, Alan is happy to chat with Ourick. As a business man and citizen of Baldur’s Gate, he has a lot of worries on his mind. He is not getting the shipments of ale he needs with the gates to Baldur’s Gate sealed. Alan is spooked by the recent murders perpetrated by the Cult of the Dead Three. It doesn’t help that graffiti associated with the cult has been appearing in the neighborhood, a skull encircled in blood drops. A couple of times Ourick hears Alan talk to his bar hands about a “special guest”. Ourick thinks this person must be staying in the large guest room (E11). Whoever this person is, their requests seem to be annoying Alan and his team.
As afternoon wears on to dusk the tavern begins to fill with more patrons. There are a dozen or so people in the tavern as Macawi and Journey finish up their rests. While Ourick and Filvendor have been in the tap room, they have noticed some of the more conspicuous characters. There is a shipwright with no eyebrows talking to a scar-faced halfling, an odd man writing in a small book in a corner, a jovial half-orc with a bellowing laugh, and a gregarious astrologer gambling with snooty apothecary wearing a colorful cape.
[Each of you thinks it is nearing the time when Tarina could arrive. What do you want to do? Also, if any of you wanted to make a shopping trip during this time, assume you did. Feel free to use your gold to buy any standard gear for the price listed in the player’s handbook.]
[Assume that you could buy/sell any non-magic arms or armor that appears in the player's handbook as well as any non-magical gear or items in the PHB. You can sell items for half the price listed in the PHB and buy them for the price listed. You can also buy standard healing potions. Let's assume that buying/selling magic items is not available for the moment.]
Mac will settle at the bar after the long rest and chat up the wait staff. She is talk about the wait staff trying to learn more about Triana. Maybe buy them a ale or two if she can get away with it, to loosen up their lips.
Macawi is successful in distracting Falten and Yimiur, Alan’s bar hands, from their work for a few minutes with the promise of some ale. Both were in good spirits and seem to enjoy working for Alan. Neither knows Tarina well, but Flaten has heard a rumor that Tarina has a dark past as a pirate. Yimiur thinks Tarina currently works as some kind of information broker.
It is now just past dusk, and the tavern is alive with revelry. Suddenly, a chill comes over everyone in the taproom. The candles and lanterns begin to flicker and burn low. Everyone goes quiet, but you can hear Alan say, “I see our lady will be joining us tonight.”
The glowing visage of a beautiful elf woman descends from the ceiling of the taproom and hovers in the air. The spirit begins to sing in elvish. Her singing is beautiful and filled with emotion. Those that can’t speak elvish can tell the song is about loss, regret, struggle and inevitability. Those that do speak elvish understand the lyrics:
O sing a song of Elturel
Of water, woods, and hill
The sun dawns on her ruddy cliffs
And fields green and still.
This land of long-abiding joy
Home of the strong and brave
Renowned by all, across the realms,
And never once a slave.
O sing a song of Elturel
When foes are at her door
Her fields torn by cloven feet
From some infernal shore.
Arise the mighty Hellriders
Take up your swift, keen swords
Then charge into the hellish fray
And scatter devil hordes.
O sing a song of Elturel
And when the night does fall
Sleep safe beneath Companion’s light
Until the dawn does call.
We’re bound by mortal covenant
That only ends with death
And so we’ll sing of Elturel
Until our final breath.
Occasionally, the spirit meets Alan’s and Filvendor’s eyes. However, she seems to be totally oblivious to everyone else in the room.
((Everyone who wants to can give me a perception check to better understand the scene. Everyone who speaks elvish can give me a history check.))
Macawiand Filvendor you notice that Alan is shocked by the song. He is listening intently, but mutters to himself, “It’s different… For the first time in 30 years, its different.”
You know that “the Companion” referred to in the song is the name given to the artificial sun that burns over Elturel, protecting the city and its surrounding lands against undead. You also recall that Zodge used the term “Hellriders” to describe certain knights of Elturel. The Hellriders were so-named long ago when they descended into the Nine Hells on horseback to fight devils. Most of them never returned.
I relay a shortened version of the song to whichever companions are next to me, focusing on how Elturel used to be a strong and proud place, the Hellriders being mentioned, and that the people of Elturel seem bound to fight for their preservation and dignity. I mention what I know of the "Companion" and the history of the Hellriders. [Read spoiler]
When journey mentions are health potion, Mac offers one of his up immediately to Journey.
Mac will head upstairs, but keep her ears open upstairs to see if she hears out of the ordinary. [I'll take the full 8 hour long rest.]

Journey will thank Mac for the potion, and pay 5s for his room, bunking with the Tortle if she doesn’t mind.
