Treenja looks at him in all seriousness. "Did you just call me a 'cat'???" He then busts out laughing. He finally calms himself and places one hand on the table, "We all have our fears my friend but my clansmen would argue with you about me being some gentle creature chasing mice." He unsheaths his claws, "My claws are much bigger and much more deadly. I will forgive you for making the mistake."
((I am guessing everyone is now at the inn. With as many posts as we have already had it is a bit hard to keep up. But I am loving it.))
Treenja stands and then kneels to Ton and then looks to the rest of the group in room. "I have served as leader of my clansmen for the past 20 years. I have made war and and I have made peace. I propose that we make peace here and now. I offer to serve each of you as you have already taken my instruction. Each of us have special gifts, please, Treenja stands and walks to Bo and takes her hand, "allow me to direct your gifts to complete the tasks ahead."
While still holding Bo's hand he looks to the others in the group, "If you feel that another would serve better in this role, please speak. I am willing to follow the lead of another."
He then looks to each as if he is waiting for their response.
"U-h-h-h S-S-Sure" replies Bo as she tries to delicately extract her hands from Treenja and get away from the "spotlight" he created around her. As she walks to the side and takes a seat she makes a mental note to apologize to Ton for putting him on the spot. Maybe I should write a list of all the apologies I'll need to make by the end of the trip, muses Bo to herself surprised at her amiable demeanor This group doesn't seem so frightening and maybe this venture will be worthwhile after all, she continues wondering if she should buy a pad and pen before departing.
Ignus looks up from his book as Treenja finishes speaking. He looks unimpressed. "My gifts will not be directed by anyone." Ignus lifts up a fist, slowly opening his palm to reveal a red-hot flame emanating from his skin. With the other hand, he reaches out, and a spectral version of his hand grabs onto a sheet of parchment on the innkeeper's desk. It pulls the parchment through the flame, lighting it instantly on fire. Ignus catches it with his other hand and blows it out, creating a dark puff of smoke. He inhales deeply. "Ah, I do love that smell."
He goes back to reading his book, continuing to speak. "Of course, I'm happy to be here working with all of you. I'm certain you're all talented in your own ways."
Verna nods, "Yes, as much as I appreciate you offering to lead, I would rather work as a group and see from there who works the best as a leader. That way we don't have any butting of heads."
Nodding and wacthing his display Treenja looks to Ignus and says in tone beginning with admiration and quickly changing to serious, "Ahh, you are quite talented. I remember kits like you, powerful, very powerful and very headstrong. I have also seen those kits lose their lives and the lives of their clansmen because the kit was intent on showing he was best."
Looking to Verna, "A group consensus would be a great idea for a smaller band. I have seen it before in such a large group, decisions will be slow and plans fragmented. And when they do, lives are lost. As I said, I would be willing to work under someone else as a leader. With a group this large, it must have a leader. I have served as a leader for long enough that I wouldn't mind following the lead of someone else. Someone like you maybe?"
Looking to the rest of the group, "Every clan has a head clansmen, every army a general, from what I have heard, even human lands has a king, and ships have captains. Someone must direct. As I said, I would be willing to, but who else will step forward?"
"A true leader is not one to simply stand up from their chair." This time Ignus doesn't look up at all from his readings. "They must show and earn their role. If that happens within our group, so be it...although personally I've never been one for generals and orders. Perhaps it's just not in my blood."
A few of his runes glow and flicker as if they were flames within his skin. "The elemental chaos doesn't have much use for order."
The dwarf has stayed mostly silent but when the topic of leadership comes up from the cat man, he decides it's time to step in. If'n ye think a leader be wise, and I agree with ye but not in the way ye have stated. Me own suggestion would be to have different folk lead when their area of expertise comes up. For example, if we be in combat, mayhap Ton or one of the other fighters be taking the lead. If we be dealin' with magic of the arcane variety, then Ignus or the like. If we be in a political or social situation, trying to win over a lord or some such, then Quinn take the lead, and so on. What say you to that sort of compromise?
Thoradin looks at Morax curiously and says Ye do be realizin' that we be travelling over the ocean to get to the Lower Continent yes? We be travelling down to to the City of Xi and then travelling by boat or airship over to the mainland. So yes...we will be having to sail my good man.
Treenja stiffens at the mention of us having to board an sea-faring ship. "Look, we already are being indecisive. Believe as you may, but as sure as my tail is long, we are going to end up dead if we don't have a leader. However, I have taken the beast's money and I will see that this job gets done.
In a more matter of fact tone, "Ton, I give ya my thanks for arranging transport. Kellin did ya give the man the money I gave you for the transport? I'm planning on leaving in the morning at dawn."
With that, Treenja grabs the package from Dao, his gear, and looks for Gordon, "Do you still happen to have rooms for the night? If so, I need to rent one."

(me, a captain) "the better to be uncontrollable, I guess. so, how are we gonna do this then? I'll stand by your decision, as those are my orders."

at the mention of magic, Morax stiffens. "as long as I don't have to sail, or deal with magic things, I'll abide by your decision" he amends.

damn it.
Only in death does duty end.
There's no way you are wanting to get on a boat, and you pray to your god that you travel by airship instead of ship to get to the Town of Birth

You don't want to get on a boat either, and the thought of doing so makes you noticeably horrified
