I appreciate that. But tell me when i should take over. I am not as strong, but i think i could handle a boat. Ferdinand is barely awake at this hour, but he tries to not show it. How were you alls night? he yawns I usually dont have problems sleeping but this place here, it has some dark aura to it.Oh and Icierys, you might want to move your hands a few inches to the right. Gives you more room to rotate your wrist. Does not make a huge difference, but safes you from some pain in the long run.
"I slept very well, considering. Thanks for asking." Dyrdramande says to all those that inquired. "I'm also grateful for a warm meal to start the day."
After reaching the boat, Dyrdramande gives a quick explanation about the mechanics of controlling a boat with two oars. "Remember sometimes paddling backward, or just dragging an oar in the water, are the best thing you can do to straighten your course." She says as she finishes up her instructions. She then hops in the boat near the middle so that, if needs be, she can replace either of the oarsmen. "Ready when everyone else is."
Jayne fully expected to pester Dyrdramande with questions and stories after the two retired to their room, but the half-elf was much more tired than she realized, and was out as soon as her head hit the pillow. Waking the next morning, she hums as she redresses and calms her matted hair. At one point, when she doesn't think Dyrdramande is paying her any mind, she mumbles something in a hitching, raspy language. The shadows appear to flow out from under the bed and spiral around Jayne at the same time a ribbon of light extends from the window and does the same. The light and shadow completely engulf her, but in the blink of an eye, there is nothing unusual. Did it really happen?
Jayne greets everyone brightly, clearly a morning person, but as soon as they are on the boat, her eyes find the tower, and she silently watches as they approach.
After about a half an hour of rowing you finally get close to the tower, and the currents definitely aren't being cooperative. Icierys and Rhys, please make a Water Vehicles (Str) check to properly maneuver the boat onto the small island where the tower lies.
While Rhys seems to manage on his end, a particularly strong current takes Icierys off guard, the oar slipping out of his grip. Ici, please make another Water vehicle check!
OOC: If anyone else wants to help Ici, RP how you do it and he'll get advantage on the roll.
(could Icierys have advantage since Ferdinand "helped" him by giving tips) Also Ferdinand tries to even out the waters by shaping the water
While the tips helped Ici, it isn't a matter of technique in this instance, but a matter of the oar slipping from his grip. Though shaping the water would give Icierys advantage.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Water Vehicle Strength part two, electric boogaloo: 7 (I didn't realize I had advantage!) 12
(I don't know why the banner came up, I always thought it only activated if you edited the spot behind the dice roll, not in front.)
Icierys fumbles for a moment, reaching for the oar. As his fingers touch it, it begins to slip away, but Ferdinand's magic gently brings the oar back into his hand. "Thank you for that," Icierys says, nodding at Ferdinand.
After a bit of rocking, Rhys and Icierys finally manage to pull the boat onto shore. Does anyone have rope to tie the boat down?
(For simplicities sake, we'll also say you used the rope to climb to 20 feet up the tower) As you reach the top, you realize the tower is completely hollow, met by a spiraling staircase that goes down deep, deeper than the lake it seems. It's crumbling and covered with moss and lichen and you can barely see the dimly lit floor a few hundred feet down.
Rhys will tie the boat to a rock on the shore. Looking down into the shaft of the tower, he will say, "What IS this place? Anyone else ready to descend? I am curious. And suspicious. Whatever is making that sound has to be way down there. "

Icierys scans the crumbling staircase, following it to the bottom of the tower. "We'll definitely have to climb to the bottom, but I'm not sure if the stairs will last the journey. Though I'm not expert on masonry, for it to have gone this long without maintenance, there's a good chance it could crumble out from beneath us." Fishing around in his pack, Icierys produces his own coil of rope, and attempts to gauge the distance between the top of the tower and the bottom.
Jayne looks at the others and looks at the stairs. Look fine to her, but what does she know? "I have some rope as well," she offers. "Oh, and some pitons," she says, producing one of her steel spikes.

while you sort out a way down there, i'll have a look around. Ferdinand sits down at the edge, folds his hands and in them appears a spider, that begins to crawl down the tower. Ferdinand will look through his familiars eyes, his own eyes fading in colour as he does so. I cant hear you, but i can still feel touch. If there is something important tap me twice. If i ask something, left shoulder means yes, right shoulder means no. Do you understand? Ferdinand will talk out his discoveries in the tower to the others.
ooc: do i roll perception using the spiders senses or ferdinands?
To save some time: Perception: 7 +0(spider) / +4(ferdinand)
"Oh, well, that is interesting," Jayne comments, watching the spider until it is out of sight. "So, your spider tells you what it sees?" She looks at Ferdinand when he doesn't respond. "Oh," she blushes, "you just said you couldn't hear us." She leans over the edge to look down in the tower. "Should we start tying rope together, or do we want to try the stairs?"

The oar hasn't fallen off the boat, just slipped from his grip.
