Talinian eyes the guard captain. "Thank you for the explanation, Captain. I think we understand now. Whether or not we find it disgusting is irrelevant as it is not our society and it works for you. What else can you show us?" Talinian has no desire to debate the morality of a society, however small, whose greatest aspiration is to become livestock. There was simply no other way he could think of the situation.
(OOC - I missed it too, sorry! I don't think the RP is bad, I actually get what you mean, just RPing out what Bones would think.)
Bones nods, "Yes, we're not here to debate your way of life. It is just rather strange to the likes of us, even though we've traveled and seen much. Please, let us continue on."
OOG Sorry for the huge delay. I am a high school teacher, and the head wrestling coach. With the semester coming to an end and the wrestling season just starting I have been cramming just like students, just mine is grading the assignments turned in late rather than turning them in late. I really should have gotten on and said something but that's how busy I was trying to make sure my seniors graduate this year.
"I apologise that our way of life makes you feel uncomfortable. But it does work, and well truthfully it works to your advantage. How many Vampire problems are there in the world?" You all would know that there have been none in the area, and the closest vampire problem would have been over 10 years ago, and in Caprivigia. (An other country) "Seeing as this place does make you feel uncomfortable we shale move on out. There is not much more I can show you now, and you look tired. Perhaps I could show you to some guest quarters, and then when the sun falls you can meet the masters.
(No worries. It's a busy time of year! Just as long as everyone is staying safe and taking care :) )
Mia's questions had only been out of curiosity. Her expression showed no disgust or discomfort. "Thank you for sharing." The warrior would break her silence and nod to Maxer. She was ready to carry on when the others were.

(OOG sorry again, wife and I got into a fight, grounded eachother from our phones, and I don't have a PC, except my school laptop that I just got back from my tech guy.)
Maxer continues to talk as he leads you closer and closer to the castle. Maxer says hello to several people as they cross paths. You see children playing and people working if you didn't know any better you would think this was a normal town. You cross through a gate way that leads to the section between the castle and the town proper. The houses here are a little nicer, and most are newer.
"This is where those of us who are too important to be The Blood live. Right there" he says pointing a finger, "that is my home. You guys are this way." He leads you to a house that is about average size for the section and pushes the door open. You all walk into the building and Maxer closes the door behind you. The door closing is much louder than you would have expected. Metal on metal and a clanking noise of a lock locking. As you take a look around you notice bars on the windows, that were hidden by shutters. The wooden door hids a prison door. You do notice food and water, and six beds. One of the windows opens and Maxer stands in front of it.
"I do apologise but the masters do not trust others in their home while they sleep, at least until they meet them and find their intentions." Maxer closes the window and you hear him walk away. During the day you are all left generally alone. At different times you hear kids coming up to the and trying to peek through any cracks or holes, these is of course followed by someone yelling at them to leave the guests alone. You may have tried to pick the locks but find yourself unable to. Hitting on walls and pulling on the bars you find that this building was built to not be escaped from. The days goes on and shortly after the sun has set you hear a voice. The voice in our real world would be a Russian accent, but in Vixia you would know him to originally to be from The Marshlands of the North.
"I am Unwanted Blood Mogoz, Master of the arms. I am here to welcome you and apologise for keeping you all locked up. It procaution we take make sure all safe. We not know you, and not all come here understanding. When I open door do you attack me?"
Talinian feels a slow burn at the dishonesty and duplicity already on display. For supposedly enlightened vampires, this group seemed very willing to employ dishonest means.
"You should have informed us instead of tricking us. This speaks ill of your masters' intent." Turning away from the door he surveys the room and his two companions.
"Well, at least they have offered us the chance to rest, though I, for one, will be eating my own rations. I cannot bring myself to trust what they have provided, not unless one of you has the ability to purify the food and drink of any poisons." After waiting for a reply, Talinian divests himself of his pack and bring out his travel book, flipping to a certain page. "After we eat I will set an alarm on this place so that we can all sleep. The alarm will wake us if anyone tries to come inside."
Sitting at the table, Talinian makes himself a meal and drinks. He eats slowly and deliberately. When he is finished, he sits cross-legged on the floor the tiefling wizard does the ritual to enact the guarding spell to keep them safe. That task finished, he lays down to sleep, setting an internal alarm to wake him in 8 hours.
ooc: Talinian will do the ritual as many times as needed, seeking to cover the doors and a space for them to sleep. If the house is small enough to be covered by a single 20' cube, great. If not, as mentioned, he'll structure the spells/cubes to cover doors and give them a safe space within the house to sleep. He wants to cast the spell as few times as possible.
ooc: I didn't post a reply to the Master At Arms in case you guys want to have some pre- or post-sleep interaction.
Bones shakes his head at Talinian, "I can't purify it now, though after we get a longer rest in I can prepare that spell for any subsequent meals they bring us." He looks around the room at the beds as well. "A rest would be good. Though I'm not sure how well we will rest given our current predicament. Sadly I can't get Cinder to go exploring more for us as he was destroyed back at the Mayor's house. I will have to find some incense or such to summon him again."
As the Master at Arms speaks to them, Bones looks around the room. His first instinct is retaliation, but then emotion always gets in the way of logic and knowledge. He takes a deep breath, but doesn't answer, just nods to Talinian.
(DM Question - would this rest have constituted a long or short rest?)
(OOC - all good. I'm glad your alright! Heaps of games have gone quiet over the holidays.)
(DM Question - would this rest have constituted a long or short rest?)
(OOC - all good. I'm glad your alright! Heaps of games have gone quiet over the holidays.)
ooc: I'm taking a long rest, personally. Remember, they've been up since yesterday, all through the night. 2 battles, a chase, a long journey to this compound.
Mialee would follow along behind with the others, familiarizing herself of all the people Maxer was greeting and the path they took through the community to where they were, just in case. She'd also make note of the house that he pointed out as his. Feeling as though the tour was winding down to the end, the silent warrior was starting to wonder when he was going to show her the training rounds she requested. But then, as they're ushered into the next building, Maxer locks them in. A dissatisfied grumble could be heard coming from Mia and her eyes would narrow at him through the bars. "Deceit." She'd mutter at him. It'd take a lot for her not to lace those words with magic to try putting Maxer to sleep right there. But no. She'd rather brawl with him than use cheap tricks.
Mia would cross her arms and pace the area for a bit before she'd calm down. Some training would have been nice before settling in for the night. After a little soft huffing and puffing, the warrior would make a sweep around the area to tidy it up with Prestidigitation to make herself feel better. Even if it was already immaculate. Mialee would take a seat with the others and she too would help herself to her own rations. "Though I cannot assist with the food, I could offer to create/refill some fresh water if and as needed." She'd say softly. The silent warrior would nod in thanks to Talinian's efforts to set up alarms for their rest. She'd also offer a bow of her head to Bones for preparing meals.
As silence and discomfort of the day begins to drag on, Mialee would feel herself grow restless. There was only so much space for her to do her training drills. Eventually, she'd grow tired of feeling like a caged grumpy bear and get over her reserve of singing. Starting with a low gentle hum, Mia would interrupt the dead air and begin to fill it with some melodic singing, even entertaining the children with her voice when they would come poking around. Otherwise, she would spend the rest of her 'down time' in the cell preparing holy water for each of them and mending and tending to any of their equipment.
When they are approached by the man with the Russian accent, Mialee would position herself protectively at the door with her arms crossed. "Where's Maxer? He's the one who deceived us." She'd try to stifle the grumble in her throat as she looked the Unwanted Blood Mogoz up and down. "We came with transparency and expected to be treated the same." The warrior would say firmly. She had no intentions of attacking the man, at least, she had no reason to at this time. Holding her position, she'd wait for Bones and Talinian to say their piece before moving or saying more.
So the bars are there but there is still a door on the other side of them so you were unable to look out.
The door opens as the confirmation of no attacking
Mogoz is the shortest half Orc you have ever seen, standing around 5’5” maybe 5’6” but most definitely the thickest you have ever seen too. His skin is a dark green has his muscles are trying to rip out of it. He wears no shirt, and his tuskes are longer than they should be for his face and pointer than you would have thought. His left bicep has two brass rings on it and the right has one ring on his belt is two long swords.
“Maxer shift ended, he at home with family, he did not deceive you, he did as told to protect us masters. Believe it or no we have people find out of us, then come and try to kill, we take procaution. I take you to the Master’s Council now?”
Talinian steps up, expression cold, magic ready to fly. "Just because he did as he was told did not mean he did not deceive us. My companion speaks wisely but I will not waste words on a hireling." He looks to his two companions to confirm then, once everything is done, says "Now we are ready."
ooc: if either of you want to do anything, feel free. I'm just covering the bases
Mialee would chuff and tilt her head up, away from the half-orc. Clearly he presented himself as a hardened warrior, and Mia would enjoy a spar, but she was not impressed by the excuse. She came in with an open mind, one of the only one from their group who wasn’t completely disgusted with their unique ways of living, and this charade happens. Pfft. There was nothing left for her to say. She was ready to move on.
Mogoz leads you into the castle’s courtyard, where there were horses, mules, a few ponies and a singular riding dog. He then leads you into the main hall of the castle. In the main hall sits a group of 24 chairs, all backs facing away from you, at the front of the chairs sit another 9 chairs facing you, a few of the chairs in the main sitting area are empty, and only one of the front 9 are empty. The 8 front chairs have someone standing behind them as well, most armored, or harty looking individuals, and each armed. Standing to your right in between the two groups of chairs standing behind a podium is Dalton, and across from Dalton is another podium this one has 3 empty chairs that Mogoz leads you to before taking the empty seat.
From closest to you to Dalton sit the following people:
A human woman of old age, she looks to be in her late 70s, grey hair, her wrinkled skin covered with Liver Spots. She wears plain robes, and has a cane in her hands with a very grandmotherly look on her face.
A male halfling, who looks like his is just about ready to be over the hill. His skin is espreso in complexion. And a sheepish smile almost like he is up to something, he is holding on to a flute and quietly playing a melody that gives you some joy. His clothing are a bright purple, and truly was the first thing any of you would have noticed when walking in.
An other halfling, this one a female, she is wearing clothing of almost ***** in nature, but with darker shades of dark greys, with a lot of jewelry, rings bracelets, necklaces, very little of the jewelry is matching one another. She is fiddling with one of the necklaces around her neck, she eyes you all looking you up and down consistently.
This is where Mogoz sits.
A young human boy, looks to not even be a teenager yet, no signs of facial hair. The hair on the top of his head is blond and well kept at a mid length. That you can see of he has two daggers on each side of his belt, and a third dagger on each side a little lower, and one more in each boot.
A half elf man, who looks to be in his mid 30s. He is wearing complete black and looks completely depressed. His hair is a long tangled mess, with his head resting on his hand as he is leaning forward. On his belt he wears a rapier and around his neck hangs a necklace with 4 rings on it and 3 beads.
An Ulfsark you have seen is in the next seat. Her fur is short with a brindle pattern, the hair on her head is long and has the same color combinations and a hint of grey now and again. She wears robes similar to the ones that Talian wears, except much older, and more worn.
A scantily dressed human woman sits next. Her hair long and dirty blond, skin of an olive complexion. Her nearly perfect figure looks extremely out of place, as does her posture, sitting across her chair with her feet thrown over the armrest, leaning on the other rest, looking in your direction. Once you are sitting she winks twice at the party, once at Talinian and the second at Bones, then blows a kiss to Mia.
In the last seat has to be the smallest dwarf you have ever seen. Based on the way it looks he might not even be a full 4 feet tall, and skinny as well. Sitting in his lap is a cat, laying on the ground to his left is a large dog, an owl is perched on and you can see a wiesel making its way in and out of his snow white beard and into his hair, both are wild and untied.
The young human stands up, and with an almost soft voice he says “Dalot you have brought outsiders to us, please explain these actions.”
Dalton starts to explain what all had happened to the council, as he is talking you notice that sitting in the front of the main crowd is Ingon, Dalton’s master, he sits quietly the whole time. Once Dalton finishes talking he remains standing. The young vampire turns to you three, takes a deep breath before speaking, “Well anything to add or say for yourselves? Please one at a time, and stand when you address the council.
