Ok, Baltor watches the Lizardfolk woman walk in the castle from a side door, and then shut it. Other than that Baltor sees nothing of intrest.
About 5 minutes after Baltor sees the Lizardfolk woman walk in the castle the council walks back into the Main Hall. All take a seat except for the boy.
"On behalf of the Councile and myself I would like to say welcome, with a 7 to 2 vote we believe you. You are free to leave here when ever you wish. If you wish to join our community you are welcome to apply to." He then turns to Dalton and Ingon "As for you two, you are also free to return to your works." And at that The Boy sits down, the crowd starts talking again, for the most part they seem to be pleased with what they had just heard.
Bones nods as the verdict is set out and the crowd goes about their way. He approaches Ingon as soon as the crowd moves on. "Excuse me, Master Ingon," he bows his head slightly, "Dalton had mentioned of Mayor Raymond's delve into necromancy and his hope to revive his wife. I wondered if you might shed some light on where he may have found such tutelage? I understand your mistrust in him, as I too found much of his actions and research to be... troubling. The fact that he openly kept his town in check through his necromantic powers was most unfortunate and misguided."
ooc: Talinian steps forward and says, "Feel the wrath of my Fireball of Vampire Immolation! All you nasty vamps within 100 yards of detonation will be turned to ash instantly! Die you disgusting blood suckers!" ... wait, that's my other 4th level wizard. :)
"Thank you," Talinian says, the urge for sarcasm ruthless suppressed. "For now, we must decline your gracious invitation of membership." He bows slightly in respect and then walks over to Thomas.
"So, Thomas, how did you come to be here and are you a vampire?"
"It's... interesting." Mialee would finally break her silence to Bones. "Believe it or not, I do see some balance in their way of life." She'd pause for a moment, knowing he and Talinian exhibited signs of discomfort, perhaps even disgust. Although some aspects did seem macabre, she still saw a shared benefit amongst both parties. "For example, I think of those who don't begin with a life of privilege, forgotten ones, or those who don't seem accepted by our ways of society, could actually work their way to a better life, or to a 'clear' reward that's tangible during their lifetime." And it all appeared to be completely consensual. She'd make a gentle gesture with her hands as she'd look around. "This community is indeed self-sufficient. And admitably quite beautiful, don't you think?" Mia would let her question sit, even a content smile would rest on her face. "This place is unique and filled with different walks of life. The knowledge and the stories in this room alone may surprise even Talinian." Her smile would tug a little further. "I'm satisfied with this experience and would be interested to have more interactions with any of these individuals should the opportunity present itself. Now, that doesn't mean I desire to sign up to join their ways, but I would be willing to be an ally of understanding. Although there were hints of deception, I feel their reaction to Raymond's studies genuine."
Mialee would offer a respectful bow to the council member who allowed them to be free to go.
I am working with the idea that we are somewhat splitting the party, with that I would assume that you guys all said something like “let meet up at location x at time y.”
Based on Ixi’s post of what Mia would do specifically, I am going to retcon and assume a few things. I would say that she waited till Talinian left to have the conversation with Bones, and unless you wish something else, Mia would have gone with Bones to talk with Ingon.
Ingon stands, "Dalton speaks too much I have found." Ingon gives Dalton a disapproving look, then smiles at him and follows it up with, "We will work on that right Dalton." and with a smile Dalton smiles nodding his head yes. "Good return home and get some sleep, it's been a long day for you I know." Ingon waits till Dalton walks away before talking. "He is simple minded, but a good man, a hard worker, and I really don't like sparing with him, because he is a hell of a fighter, and doesn't know how to pull punches. Anyways, on to Raymond." Ingon lets out a long sigh. "It is terrible that man really. I met him just after his wife had passed, he was on his way home from a magic school, he went in hopes to find a way to bring her back. I was waking for the night, as he pulled to my camp and thought I was staying the night and thought that he would stay with me. While we sat and talked, and Dalton slept we were attacked, of course. It was a large group of more than just average bandits, a Wizard was just one of their magic users, I think one was an unholy man, a few of their brawling types were giving Dalton a run for his money and well, Raymond was useless. I had two choices at that moment, reveal my nature or die. I should have chosen the latter. Knowing what I know now, I would have killed him too. But he did not seem to pose a threat of any kind. He asked several questions about my condition and my kind. He made the request to meet the council and ask to be made a Vampire. I told him a few small lies about the process, but still came back to him to tell him of their decision. He consistently had new reasons to be turned. We do have a few politicians who know of us. Truthfully had this not happened we were going to be looking for a way to have him removed. Anyways, I think I’ve gone way off track of your questions, what was it again?... Ohhhh, yes that's right, where did he learn magic? Well I would assume being born into a somewhat noble family he had a wizard teach him a few small things as a child, but not to the extent that Dalton said he heard from the fight. He also said that Golin and Oriteath and I quote ‘were a bunch of rat bastard @$$ #01es and wouldn’t give him $#i+.’, again his words, not mine. So where he learned more I couldn’t be sure.”
Thomas doesn’t look disappointed to see you Talinian but he also does not look too happy about it either. "Only Vampires, and the council's guard are promoted to be in a Council meeting." and with the wave of a hand at you all he adds, "and anyone being brought before them of course." Thomas stands and offers his hand gesturing in a if you wish to follow me kind of way. “It's been a little while since we talked last. I was bummed to hear you left while I was on mission, but happy at the same time, I was also happy. Right before you got back from the High Campus, I was sent out on a mission. Sideburry and Prehore had reported a few people had gone missing, 1 to 2 a month, for almost a year. Cridore (a young half-elf Zelator that you would have know, good guy, little on the odd side) was asked to go investigate he was from Swagelmond, so he knew the area, I meet his brother, if you thought Cridore was weird, he had a lot to go before being as off as his brother. Anyway, we tracked it, and found a Vampire living in the woods. He had started to build a small army, not all of the missing people were there, we figured they died, and he chose to not bring them back. So we engaged with the Vampire, Alfried. We should not have, we had a few local guards with us but not enough man power. I went down, and when I came back, I was in the hands of Alfried, he looked me in the eyes and asked me, ‘Do you serve me or do you die?’” Thomas drops his head and looks away from you as he mutters, “I agreed.” Thomas stops talking and continues to walk you have been making your way through the castle, a few Vampires have been ahead of you, some turning when you go straight, or go straight when you turn, right now there is 3 Vampires in front of you and 1 behind you, the 3 infront open a door and walk in. Thomas stops at the door, “I am in my dress cloth for the council meeting, allow me a second to change and we can walk and talk some more, I am hungry so I would like to go and get something to eat, that is of course if you wish to join me, I know for some it is off putting, honestly it is for me also.” You look inside the room and you see a row of bunks with footlockers at the end of them and a wall locker next to them. The three in front of you are inside in what looks like their own lockers, the 1 behind you squeezes by and into the room and goes to a bunk of her own and just lays down. Thomas walks in behind her and goes to what you can only guess to be his wall locker, he opens it up and starts to get changed.
Bones nods, "Thank you for your candour and the information. Pity that the source of his knowledge goes undiscovered," he sighs and thinks a moment, "I'm glad that we could offer some aid in taking care of your problem with the mayor. I know that our freedom to leave would be construed as payment but I wonder if I might trouble you for something more? If you have it, of course. I wonder if you might have any spell books that I might take with me in order to increase my repertoire?"
Talinian listens attentively to Thomas' story, not in the least judgmental at the choice his friend made. Who's to say how he would have decided in a similar situation. "I will accompany you to your meal," he says, not betraying in the slightest any discomfort at the idea. "I see how you became undead but how did you come to be here? And, as long as we're talking what new magic have you learned? I'd love the opportunity to exchange spells with you. I have begun crafting scrolls and have begun the research into creating wands, specifically a Wand of Magic Missiles. Have you crafted any? Being here must afford you greater leisure time for your studies. As for me, well..." as they walk and during Thomas' meal he fills his friend in on his adventures since leaving the school, omitting little but glossing over the name of the person he killed in the crypt.
Ingon looks to Bones, “I know that Raymond had a spell book, that being said, most of the spells in it are nothing big, most pages are just rubbish.” Ingon reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out a small book, that really looks to be pieced together rather than a truly bound book. And he flips it open to a page, then flips pages slowly showing them to you. What you notice is that most of the pages are almost the same thing, an attempt at a spell, but the page is still dull. Being a wizard, one thing that you would know, and most likely love when it happens, is when you copy a spell down correctly the page changes somewhat, they sharpen in color. (to make a real world reference, think almost like when Dorthy walks out of her house and into Munken Land and the world turns from Sepia to Bright Color, this example is a little more extreme than what the pages do, it just gets you to thinking.) So some of the pages are still dull, and each of the dull pages look almost the same, small thing here and there are different from one another, a few of them have ink scribbled over the attempted spell writing, one dull page is slightly burnt from the middle out. “Honestly other than these confusing pages there is nothing we here could not obtain on our own. If you being a learning man of magic I would be happy to let you have it, the council looked over it yesterday and deemed it worthless, I've just been too busy to dispose of it. Ohh, yes one last thing, I do want to give a big thanks for not just killing Dalton, I don’t like saying this but he is a best friend to me, sometimes closer than any brother could be.”
Thomas finishes getting dressed, there seems to be a childish horse play in the room, the female truly seems to be the most childish of the group, telling the boys to do some of the crudest things to her body that Talinian has ever heard, and at one point in time suggesting that she was going to leave piles of waist on each of their chests while they sleep in the morning.
“She’s a handful.” Thomas informs you after leaving the room. “That room is for those of us who have not started our own Pact yet. A Pact is almost like a family unit, most Pacts have 3 or 4 people in them, 1 servant, and 2 or 3 guards. Being new I have not been able to start a Pact yet, but I am working with a gentleman who seems to be open and willing to the idea of becoming my servant, from there I need at least 1 guard, and then I am out of that room. Dayas is never going to leave there and start a Pact, she is too wild spirit. Some of the older vampire Pacts have 3 or 4 servants and over a dozen guards, the council members have even more, Borin, the..” he looks around and lowers his voice, “boy Head of Council.” and the raises his voice back to normal, “he has 5 head servants, each with their own crew of servants and guards under them. So how have you been.”
Talinian askes, “I see how you became undead but how did you come to be here? And, as long as we're talking what new magic have you learned?”
“Ohh, yes. That, well shortly after I fought and lost Alfried, The Unwanted Blood came to do the same. When the fighting started Alfried had me under his control, but a small part of me, in the back of my head was fighting it, and I finally broke through. When I did come to finally I reached out and started to blast Alfried with lightning (witchbolt), I by no means turned the tide of the battle, but I did make it easier, and a lot less bloody on our end of the fight. There was only 1 other vampire who did not die in the fight, but he told The Unwanted Blood that he would pick up where Aflied left off, they knocked him out. We brought them all back here, to be killed more securely, not let them reform if you would. I have done a little learning here, but there is no library, and I am assumed dead by School so I am not able to go back there and learn, there would be way too many questions that I don’t want to answer, that being said went I get a Pact, I might try and go to another school, Torhild the Ulfsark from the Council thats what she does, every so often she goes to a school, she has a Ring showing to be in the Zeltor Circle so most don’t question when she goes in, when I got here she told me she would let me use it. I would be happy if I could get some spells from you. What's been going on with you?”
Thomas listens as you tell him your tales, nodes when it seems appropriate, laughs with you and at times where he just feels odd. When you guys get to the feeding building a few of the Blood are out being feed off of, others are still relaxing. A middle aged man comes to Thomas and says “Master Thomas, I have two Bloods that would be happy to allow you specify to feed, Apphine and Elel, do you have a preference today sir?”
“No Asher I do not thank you for asking, and finding me choices today. And I’ve told you, stop calling me Master”
“Yes Master, I mean just Thomas. I will check necks for you while you continue to talk with one of the guests.” Asher then looks to you, Talian and in a pleasant tone adds “I am happy that you all came without ill intentions.”
“Asher is the person I have been working with to become my servant.” Thomas explains as you two walk to a seat, Asher then comes back with a somewhat young looking half-elf who looks as happy as anyone else that you have seen, the man kneels on the floor next to Thomas, he reaches his arm out, Thomas grabs a hold of the arm and opens his mouth and lets his fangs sink into the half-elf’s arm, you see a slight wience of pain and the teeth enter, but then total relaxation, a little blood happens to spill out while Thomas is feeding, and the half-elf, who’s name is Elel, quitely wipes the blood off. You see other vampires come in a feed in a shorter time than Thomas, over all you notice it takes most of the vampires less than 15 minutes to feed, whereas Thomas it takes nearly a full hour.
When Thomas is done feeding, a woman comes over, and touches Elel’s arm, and with a bright radiant light the two holes close up. The Woman helps Elel to his feet, “Your getting better, it didn’t hurt as much as it did two weeks agos.” Thomas gives a quick thanks as the two walk to the bar the woman helping Elel most of the way.
Bones accepts the mayor's book with a slight bow, "My thanks, sir. And as for Dalton, I can understand your fondness for him. He is an earnest fellow. We were fit for a fight, given the events leading up to us encountering Dalton, but none of us a wanton killers and so did not wish to harm him unnecessarily." Bones holds the book in his hands, holding it closed with a hand on either cover, and he looks down at it for a moment. Coming back to the moment, he nods again, "Again, our thanks, Master Ingon. I'll gather the others and we'll leave as soon as the they have finished anything else they wish to do here. We have a long journey ahead of us, so best not to rush away, if that's alright."
"Master Bones, the council has said you may stay, which means for as long or short as you wish." Ingon also bows, "Now if you don't mind, I wish to go and feed before finishing a few small things and spending some time with Dalton." And Ingon starts to walk off and out of the caslte.
Talinian nods along as Thomas continues his story. He has no intention of joining these people but, well, there were things to learn. Of course, the most important thing he wanted to learn, how to kill vampires, they would probably be reluctant to discuss. Maybe Thomas would be willing...but Talinian decided to ask later.
"Is there a library here?" he asks instead. "If so, can I get access?"
"There are a few, but no. They are private ones amassed by each vampire. Even if they were to be combined into one mass it woul still not be that large. Is there anything specific your looking for, I mean of course spells, but do you have anything specific?"
Talinian nodded but held his tongue as they walked, waiting until they were alone. "Yes. I'd like to learn about undead. We've encountered a fair amount of it recently and I'd like to learn more, to better respond to the threat." He stops, turning to face Thomas directly. "I admire what has been accomplished here, Thomas, and I see no reason at all to doubt the sincerity of the vampires here. But these are not the only vampires or even the majority of them. The knowledge of how to properly deal with vampires is here. I would like to learn that. Not," he says, holding up a hand to forestall any objection, "because I feel in any way threatened by your and yours here, but because, as you yourself know, most vampires do not abide by such enlightened ideals."
He lets that sink in for a moment. "Do you think your masters would be willing to arm us...well, me really...with that knowledge. You can vouch for me, Thomas, and you know that I do not lie nor break my word. I swear to you know that I would only use such knowledge in defense of myself, my companions or any I am charged to protect."
Mia would have followed quietly content behind Bones and Ignon as they conversed. She was interested in knowledge, but was no wizard, so she was comfortable listening while Bones discussed the spellbook. Though, she would nod firmly, with a hint of enthusiasm, in agreement to Bone's comment about Dalton fit for a fight. Mialee absolutely appreciated having him at their side and would welcome a spar with him any day. Then when Ignon would take his leave, she'd give a respectful bow of her head in thanks and farewell.
Thomas looks at Talinian and thinks while they walk through the somewhat quite streets and thinks about what was asked of him. "I am still learning things right now myself, I have training I need to get to soon, I am learning how to use these new powers. Mogoz is training me, and I am still kind of new around here, so I just don’t know if I would want to bring it to the council, we can I guess see if Mogoz is cool with you watching.”
Mia make a perception check for me as your walking around.
Yes, sorry for messing this up. She is not heading to the main door, she is heading to a side door.
